@MidLifeCrisis007 that’s terrible that T&T told your DD to take a PCR so soon after testing positive. I thought it was common knowledge that you are not meant to test gro 90 days after testing positive but maybe it’s because I work in a hospital so it’s been drummed into me. We have to test all out patients 3 days before they come in for an operation but if they’ve had covid within 90 days we don’t test them, they just need to bring it their proof of positive test (email kr text which also states the end date of isolation)

Fiddlersgreen · 02/09/2021 22:11

Sorry for the typos!

NCTDN · 02/09/2021 22:12

Of anyone else as frustrated as me that a level dates are still to be announced? We're wanting to book a holiday but can't until we know all the dates including results day.

SandyBayley · 02/09/2021 22:18

@NCTDN - we've been told by DD's school that A Levels 2022 are likely to be mid May to the third week of June.

Yes! I’m waiting for those and GCSE dates too as will have both going on and want to book a holiday for after
NCTDN · 02/09/2021 22:55

I also want to know when college will set mock exams, but they can't decide that until the other dates are confirmed!

OrangeCinnamonCocktail · 02/09/2021 23:18

Yes...want to know if in did a miserable crimbo before mocks...

OrangeCinnamonCocktail · 02/09/2021 23:19

..do carry on and fill this one up

Fferny1 · 03/09/2021 00:14

Can you add me please @orangecinnamon ?
I wasn't added on the last thread either ... Feeling neglected...😁

crazycrofter · 03/09/2021 00:14

I have a GCSE and A Level student this year too, I’m dreading it! I don’t think ds could possibly have a more disrupted year than last year though, with constant cases from Sept onwards plus a few fake ones in May/June!

crazycrofter · 03/09/2021 00:19

Thanks @ExtremelyDisorganised that’s really helpful. Ds has ADHD, his organisation skills are terrible but he also can’t seem to manage more than 1-2 hours revision in total per day, even in holidays, so GCSEs are a nightmare (he has mocks next week and has only really touched 3 subjects). I’m hoping the drop to 3 subjects plus spreading out the work/assessments might help. But it sounds like he’ll need to be on the ball from the start (or I will!).

BlueMarigold · 03/09/2021 07:02

@crazycrofter I agree that this year was more disrupted. I am hoping the government will have a back up plan because I am sure our schools will shut down if there are too many cases. Is there any talks of letting younger children have the vaccine?

Piggywaspushed · 03/09/2021 07:12

On the subject of PCRs, when we had mass PCR testing on our school last term, we were told 56 days before having a PCR if you tested positive...

Fferny1 · 03/09/2021 07:38

I think the JVCI are still dithering over vaccinations for 12-15 year kids, due to occasional heart issues, even though Gavin seems to be in favour of them. The suggestion is to allow the teens to have one as the second dose is more risky.
I'm looking forward to the 🎢 ride this term.
Has anyone here had pre-holiday Covid pcr tests? DD2 did one yesterday morning & we posted it in the priority post box that was due to be picked up at 12 pm. Her result was emailed to her at around 3pm. How could it be that fast ?

OrangeCinnamonCocktail · 03/09/2021 07:58

@Fferny1

Can you add me please *@orangecinnamon* ? I wasn't added on the last thread either ... Feeling neglected...😁
Your name is there @Fferny1? It might not be notifying you. We figured put how to set this up at the end of the previous thread.
OrangeCinnamonCocktail · 03/09/2021 08:05

@Fferny1

OrangeCinnamonCocktail · 03/09/2021 08:06

@Fferny1..it is in the talk preferences. Click on the little blue arrow next to Talk menu and it's under 'customise' you can then make sure you get a notification when mentioned with the @.

AnneOfCleavage · 03/09/2021 09:40

@NCTDN - we've been told by DD's school that A Levels 2022 are likely to be mid May to the third week of June.

That will the same for everyone then won't it. I was hearing (albeit a good while ago now) that they were thinking of pushing them back to late June and July to make up for lost learning but seems that's not the case now. I too want to know the dates because of holiday planning. We booked a trip for after GCSEs which obv got cancelled and not been away since so feel we should do one to celebrate end of both big years with DD. Really want to know if there will be reduced content or lower grade boundaries etc for our cohort (GCSE too). I can see a poorly attended first week due to Reading and Leeds festivals as lots have gone down with COVID.

OrangeCinnamonCocktail · 03/09/2021 10:14

DH has just been able to move his allocated Summer Leave forward to last two weeks in June...it was October who has a summer hole in October!

This is going to sound churlish, but I do not want to miss out on a holiday abroad next year. Just a week lazing by the beach or pool, not cooking wiLl do me.

Monkey2001 · 03/09/2021 10:56

A neighbour who is part of shadow SAGE said there is not enough vaccine for all children to have it 😡. The heart thing is just something they have clutched as an excuse. The risk of heart problems with a vaccine is still significantly less than the risk of problems after catching Covid.

Zandathepanda · 03/09/2021 12:23

This sounds very likely and expected. I thought it was odd it was suddenly just one jab for these years when they have been going on that protection with two is better.
Dd was in for 10.30. At exactly 11.00 she got the ‘lateral flow negative’ text and forwarded it. Amazingly everyone in Year 13 is negative - wonder if they actually waited 30 mins to look at the test results?

Fferny1 · 03/09/2021 12:39

Thank you @Orangecinnamoncocktail.
No, it was just me not reading your list of names properly. I'm getting all agitated over dd's pre holiday Covid test. Now it turns out she accidentally did the free lfd test as well as the PCR. So we're still waiting on the PCR result which we need to go to Mallorca. And we've had to order her another lfd test to take with us for the two days before departure one.
It's all completely bloody nerve wracking.
Ds1 is back at school and can't come. So it's just me & the two girls plus dd's boyfriend going.
