Oh my all these photos are making me very pet broody!
We don’t own our home so sadly no pets here

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 16/08/2021 19:03

@Oblomov21

Friends of ours bought a dog yesterday.
😍
stoneysongs · 16/08/2021 19:30

Gorgeous colours on your rabbit, Kingscote, I've never seen such a pretty one.

@icanbewhatiwant
Yes, a Labrador. It basically goes:

Dog: eyes up ditch full of thick black mud
Me: do not drop your ball down there
Dog: drops ball into ditch
Me: don't go after it, come here
Dog: jumps into ditch
Me: surely even you wouldn't be stupid enough to..
Dog: sticks face in mud, finds ball
Me: you look ridiculous now
Dog: looks vaguely apologetic but also pretty confident she did the right thing

@singingstones ha ha. I thought it was a lab. but hard to tell through the mud. I love labs. Ours have rolled in some disgusting things though. The worst was human 💩 🤮 out on a footpath.

Love all the pet photos.

ExtremelyDisorganised · 16/08/2021 20:26

@Monkey2001 that's really helpful information about the application process, thanks you. Do you know if you can change your personal statement if you add more choices later? DS is still undecided between two subject choices which are quite unrelated and the personal statement to suit both is a problem. Also you might add useful experiences over the application period.

Oh no 🤢
We have regular rolling in fox poo but no human poo thank goodness. I don't actually mind the smell of fox poo.
We were camping once when the DC were small, and our friends' lab ate one of DD's poos out of the potty. Still going strong 12 years later and we always say they have a special bond Grin

Monkey2001 · 16/08/2021 20:32

@ExtremelyDisorganised I don't think you can change the PS, but I don't think it is very unusual to ask whether you can send a PS to a university in Extra/Clearing. As discussed before, it is worth knowing whether a university looks at PS anyway. I have a friend who managed to get offers for medicine and music in the same cycle 25 years ago. She chose music!

Zandathepanda · 16/08/2021 20:45

I debated whether to ‘out’ one of our animals but I found this one Dd edited with dark glasses, so they are incognito, in a standard pose.
Prepare to witness a very large tabby…

If we are talking pets...had to add ds3's crested gecko. I think she's so cute...can't handle her though, I'm scared I'll lose her.

The eyelashes 😍 Is that a species with the magic sticky gecko feet? We have a leopard gecko, but they don't have those. I'm not a fan of our gecko since she bit me and drew blood 😱. She's DD's responsibility with DH keeping an eye.
icanbewhatiwant · 16/08/2021 21:40

@singingstones yes sticky feet and they also jump like frogs. It was a toss up between a crestie and leopard. Cresties are arboreal, so need a tall vivarium with branches and plants, whereas leopards have a short wide viv and presumably prefer the floor. I think they are both crepuscular. Yes...Her eyelashes are beautiful.

Zandathepanda · 16/08/2021 22:07

Just spent 10 mins watching Crested Geko videos!

Zandathepanda · 16/08/2021 22:07

Gecko not geko

icanbewhatiwant · 16/08/2021 22:43

She sticks to the glass. She has the most amazing feet. Her back left is the best in this photo. But the quality isn't that good especially after I've uploaded. It's hard to get a good photo as she comes out at dusk.

Probably some useless info for you all...

Yes....quality is now rubbish after uploading. Even more useless!!

Zandathepanda · 16/08/2021 22:47

What do you feed her?

Monkey2001 · 16/08/2021 23:09

What a brilliant menagerie!

icanbewhatiwant · 17/08/2021 06:22

@Zandathepanda cresties have a complete food. We just mix it up in a milk bottle top. They are easy to keep as we have bio viv. So live plants and isopods, isopods (or woodlice) help keep it all clean. So no cleaning out. She always need misting with water daily to keep humid levels up.

Heifer · 17/08/2021 09:10

Loving the pet photos too - I've got 2 dogs but seems no recent photos to hand (bad parent). New phone and we are away in York at the moment so that is my excuse.

DD LOVED Nottingham Uni, especially the Hockey Centre with it's 5 pitches with tennis centre and water sports centre nearby, along with another sports centre on campus! Liked the look of the University Park campus and saw where the Medical Centre was (lots of study in there apparently). At the moment it's gone to top of the list. Didn't go into Nottingham itself - DD assumes it will be ok.

Went out in York last night, which was lovely (I would move here) but didn't do much to change DDs worry that not enough nightlife (she saw some posts on Tictoc saying how boring York is now, was good a couple of years ago but nightclubs have shut down). Funny thing is that DD hasn't even been to a proper night club yet so has no idea if it's her thing or not... We are off to visit the uni today so hoping she likes it.

Zandathepanda · 17/08/2021 09:36

Heifer We had a problem 3 years ago in that the A19 was shut due to an accident and found the York gridlocked - I would have loved to spend more time at the East Campus. They have a large sports centre I didn’t get to see. If seemed forever on the bus to get from East Campus to the station. The city was heaving when we were there but we picked a race weekend!

Heifer · 17/08/2021 09:57

thanks @Zandathepanda. We were 4 hrs late getting to Nottingham yesterday due to traffic.... York is great, loving it here, busy but not heaving. I have downloaded the York visit uni app so after breakfast will be off to spend some time at the uni before heading home.

Zandathepanda · 17/08/2021 10:03

Sounds like there will be a few wanting to go to Nottingham from this thread. Have a lovely day out Heifer. York was an insurance but Dd1 was set on Newcastle - where the nightclub life was legendary if she hadn’t hit a pandemic!

Piggywaspushed · 17/08/2021 10:10

Must be quite nice in York without so many tourists. I am hoping for a slightly quieter Cambridge tomorrow...

I am feeling gradually better by the day so attempting a wander round Cambridge tomorrow. Have been route planning : Babraham Road P and R stops near Homerton and then we can time the walk from there to the Selwyn and then the Backs and onwards. DH determined to find a Costa early doors to spend a voucher! This will complicate things...

Heifer · 17/08/2021 10:11

DD has ruled out Newcastle, Manchester etc where the nightlife is buzzing! Back up at the moment is Swansea, she loves the idea of the beach

Heifer · 17/08/2021 10:12

Great to hear you're up for a visit to Cambridge @Piggywaspushed. Accidently spill something on DHs voucher to make life easier ;-)
