Oh, he's lovely @Orangecinnamon21. We were told the same about black cats when we adopted our two, neither are actually black but one is a very dark tortoiseshell and it is hard to get a decent photo of her and she regularly gets kicked because we don't see her lying on the landing in the dark unlike her black and white sister. We are still considering dog adoption ourselves and are torn between puppy and rescue, DS is a bit anxious so we have agreed that we will not do it before A levels have finished as then he may well be away in term time anyway.

Those eyes!😍

Volterra · 15/08/2021 09:26

Oh he is gorgeous!

ProggyMat · 15/08/2021 09:31

Bonny lad!

whoamitojudge · 15/08/2021 10:36

Gorgeous dog ❤️

sazzy5 · 15/08/2021 11:06

@Orangecinnamon21 it is so strange with adopting animals, I get that the dog is priority but they seem to put some ridiculous rules in place. We got a puppy, lockdown puppy, best thing we did. It has been lovely for us as a family. Fingers crossed you’ve found the one for you.

SandyBayley · 15/08/2021 11:39

@OrangeCinnamonCocktail - I am in love. We have a rescue terrier type. It was an absolute pain to get him as some if the rescue charities were really difficult to deal with. It breaks my heart as it just fuels the overseas rescue trade. Ddog is adored by all of us and adores us even if he is still a bit scarred by how he was treated in his early life.

Fferny1 · 15/08/2021 12:00

@Cinnamon that first rescue sounds bizarre, but it sounds as though things have worked out for the best. Greyhounds are such loving dogs and generally pretty easy. We have a Cocker and he's wonderful & very cuddly. He sleeps on the sofa with whoever's resident, all day, with occasional forays to the kids beds upstairs.

DD2 has done Bath. She says she's not sure it's for her! To be fair she doesn't want to go to a campus uni. and has always said she wants to be in a large city.

Oblomov21 · 15/08/2021 12:11

What a cutie!

Monkey2001 · 15/08/2021 12:17

Orange what a handsome chap! He looks a bit like our "Socks". We didn't know we had a dog shaped hole in our lives until years of pestering by DS and the unplanned pregnancy of a friend's dog prompted one of our best decisions ever! I didn't know they were called "tux dogs" - love it!

Such a cute dog! I hope it all works out for you.
I don’t know anything about adopting dogs but I know when my neighbour was adopting two children, they had to have someone come and measure the gaps in the banister of their stairs and were told if they were deemed too wide they would need to replace it. Yet if they’d been able to have a child naturally no one would have ever even ask about their banisters! Bizarre

OrangeCinnamonCocktail · 15/08/2021 12:45

Oh thanks all, and totally here for the pet photos!
I shall send an update when he arrives.

20newnames · 15/08/2021 12:56

@Fferny1 interesting about your DD’s view of Bath. Just proves there is somewhere for everyone, DS loved it but then he had always said he didn’t want a big city and it confirmed that he prefers a campus!

We are visiting Durham and York this week so will see what he thinks of them.

In Covid news DS1 tested positive yesterday. His symptoms are like a stinking cold. Thankfully he doesn’t live with us and we haven’t seen much of him over the last couple of weeks so we don’t have to isolate and can continue with the planned uni visit trip this week. Have obviously done lots of LFTs anyway but are all feeling fine too.

Monkey2001 · 15/08/2021 13:05

newnames hope he shakes it off quickly, but from Monday you don't have to SI if you are a close contact if someone who tests positive unless you are an unvaccinated adult. Weird!

Monkey2001 · 15/08/2021 13:06

..... Which at least means you can choose to visit him without having to SI.

ExtremelyDisorganised · 15/08/2021 13:38

One of our cats is a tux cat, I didn't know that was a thing till about a year ago either

@Orangecinnamon21 he looks lovely. The downside to a black dog is you can't see them in the garden when it's getting dark 🤣 yours will be ok though...he has a white piece on his chest.

I just had a bit of a snigger to myself. After ds1 couldn't find the walk in vaccine centre yesterday and wouldn't ask...he went off again today. He found it but he is 2 days off 8 weeks so they wouldn't do it.

icanbewhatiwant · 15/08/2021 15:21

I think I put a pic of our pup on last year...she not a pup anymore.

Lovely dog pictures! No animals here, just a degu (we did have three, but two died earlier this year).

Dd told me that 16-17 year olds can get vaccinated in Primark in Birmingham. Seems a bit odd but a few of her friends have had it. Not sure if it’s a nationwide thing in Primarks?!

Oblomov21 · 15/08/2021 15:56

Mrs Grealish. Just for you. Jack and his hairband. We are at Spurs v Man City.

👀👀😂

Monkey2001 · 15/08/2021 16:16

@crazycrofter Primark Bristol had a pop up walk in centre in July. DS tried and failed to get a jab, but it is probably fine now. I am keeping an eye on the walk in centres page and hoping Bristol will catch up soon. A friend with DD with August birthday had great difficulty getting her one for the day after her birthday - she was getting anxious when there was talk of not being able to go to university unless you had been double jabbed.

Zebracat · 15/08/2021 16:21

Lots of greyhound love from us. We’ve had 2. They are so beautiful that it is like having living sculpture in your house. But this is the current zebradog, or at least one of them. We are beyond 1 out, 1 in , at least 2 have to die before any more arrive. Currently on holiday with no children and 1 dog and it is revelatory.
