Hello Marmite, thank you for popping in. Take all the drugs, they wouldn't offer them if you didn't need them.

It's been a bit up and down here but today has had less down and no texts of woe so I'll take that as a good sign.

HesMyLobster · 19/09/2018 22:03

Lovely to hear from you Marmite, so glad it's done - now rest and heal, and yes - all the drugs! Thanks

Also lovely to hear happy stories of all the dc settling in and getting started. Gives me a warm glow to think of them all dotted around the country happy and excited.
Well Done you lot - you've done good! Grin

DD dragged her boyfriend to ikea today so I think she's finally, actually sorted. (As sorted as she can be when we still don't know what size bed or whether she has an email suite or not!)

They're out at a concert in Sheffield tonight - I'm hoping the winds don't interfere with them getting home.

captainoftheshipwreck · 19/09/2018 22:11

Sending you best wishes marmite Flowers

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/09/2018 22:19

Nightmare MrsAD! The storm wound herself up good and proper didn't she? That's the problem with early storms, they take down the trees as they are full of leaf still.

We will have a few of these GinGinGinracked up for you marmite when you're ready. Glad all is OK and hope that you recover well.

DS is in a mixed flat 5 Boys/4 girls and is getting along well with all (so far)

raspberryrippleicecream · 19/09/2018 22:33

Oh no Ms AD, hope you get back ok tomorrow.

Downeyhouse · 20/09/2018 04:59

Glad the op is over Marmite. Keep taking the drugs on schedule even if you think you don’t need them. Much better to stay on top of the pain than be running behind it trying to get it back under control.

I hope you have managed to sleep this night.

Well I am about to wake up ds and start playing car Tetris. Our hall is full of bags and boxes! Thankfully I have a large flat boot but the back seats will need to be laid flat for sure!

Good thing it is only the 2 of us going.

Ds2 went back to school yesterday. Was glad we could be here for that.
The 2 ds said goodbye last night as ds 2 had gone to stay with his grandma whilst I take ds to the UK.

My big 18 year old was in tears. Not sadness just emotional.

Time for coffee and then let the car loading begin.

ShanghaiDiva · 20/09/2018 07:04

Marmite
Hope you managed to get some rest last night. Keep taking the pain killers and best wishes for your recovery.

PandaG · 20/09/2018 07:34

Glad the op is over Marmite. Hope you can keep on top of the pain.

Drive safe Downey. Xx

Knittinganewme · 20/09/2018 07:49

Downey pack the back footwells before you put the seats down. I got a double duvet into one with a bit of persuasion.

Bakeandyarn · 20/09/2018 07:50

Marmite, hope you had a good nights rest too

UrsulaPandress · 20/09/2018 08:04

Safe journey Downey and hope you had a decent night's rest marmite.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 20/09/2018 09:23

marmite I hope this morning finds you rested and not in too much pain.

Downey hope the journey goes well.

TheThirdOfHerName · 20/09/2018 09:23

DS1 had a wobble last night because his Snapchat map shows 2/3 of his friends gradually dispersing across the country (and a few abroad).

The waiting isn't helping. Once he is there, I think he'll be fine.

I'm hoping to see some packing happening today.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/09/2018 09:33

Morning Marmite :) I hope you are comfy. Just a word of advice, if your ahem digestive system is being slowed down by painkillers, get on top of it as quick as you can, before things get a bit impossible!

That's so poignant TheThird.

dd is having one last meet up before the majority head off this weekend. dh, who works from home mostly isn't here today. After a summer of having one or other in the house all the time it seems awfully quiet.

ds sent dh a text in the middle of the night, PING to say, Hello. Then 5 mins later. Can I have another 10 on my month's allowance..we didnt read the second half till morning.

Clearly not homesick but possibly inebriated. The only unsolicited text we get is 5 days in, at 4am!

No, I don't think the extra tenner a month is going to be forthcoming.

Downey that is a lovely letter to write. Dh sent a similar to ds by text when he left, as his mother before she died, sent him a long letter saying how much he meant to her, and he felt very strongly that it is never too early to tell people how you feel. Yorkshire (am I right in thinking it is thereabouts) is not far away from where you are in Europe, only a plane ride, it will seem nearer as time goes on, and once they are students they start hopping all over the place like demented fleas! Smile

Nettleskeins · 20/09/2018 10:04

packing frantically today to go back to another EU country. too many things happening round here, and all meant to be fun, but not my idea of fun.

Downeyhouse · 20/09/2018 12:11

Safely arrived in Calais.

Ds just told me he has left me a letter on my bed at home. Smile So glad I had already prepared my letter for him - I know I will be too emotional to say all I want to say! :)

NoHaudinMaWheest · 20/09/2018 12:15

That's very thoughtful of him downey

flatmouse · 20/09/2018 12:35

Aww that so lovely.

TheThirdOfHerName · 20/09/2018 13:49

That's really sweet.

FantasyAndHope · 20/09/2018 17:01

Sorry to hear about the driving test Thethird a boy in dd’s year failed 5 times before passing
Hope you’re doing well and resting marmite take ALL the drugs you can get! It’ll make the pain ease a bit more

Dd and my birthday tomorrow cannot believe she is 20!

Petalflowers · 20/09/2018 18:30

Marmite - hope you had a good day today.

Downey - hope your journey is going well and the winds didn ‘t affect the Dartford crossing (unless you went the other way). I hope you have a nice time visiting your relatives also.

adrinkofwater · 20/09/2018 19:24

Ridiculous amounts of stuff has now been brought downstairs. Really not sure if it's going to fit in the car!! Taking DD to Cardiff tomorrow! X
