I liked a bit of Sanger spread too. Barf.

Matteson's liver pate ( do they even make that shit any more?)

Tinned fruit
Angel Delight
Dairylea triangles

BadGardener · 14/01/2010 12:31

Findus Crispy Pancakes.
I imagine tinned ravioli and meatballs would also be horrible but haven't tried them to find out. Also Toast Toppers.

FlightAttendant · 14/01/2010 12:32

raw lentils mixed with jam.

(sorry yy was v odd child)

RolandButter · 14/01/2010 12:32

Baked beans with mini pork sausages in - loved them. Pure mankage!

Also adored chicken and bacon crispy pancakes with chips and beans. That was a standard meal for me in my early teens.

Those tinned sponge puddings. Vile.

RolandButter · 14/01/2010 12:32

dh used to like tinned pies - remember those

potted meat...
polony
angel delight
all rubbish,but tasty back then!

Kwini · 14/01/2010 12:36

MRsMAttie, my DP still love tinned beans with mini sausages and insists that it's no different than eating tinned beans with sausages bought separately. I insist that the preservatives and salt required to keep them looking remotely edible are what qualify this as (as you put it) pure mankage, but he remains unconvinced...

RolandButter · 14/01/2010 12:36

the sausages are slimey and look like a toddlers finger

LowLevelWhingeing · 14/01/2010 12:37

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 14/01/2010 12:37

Hot Dogs

Space Invaders

Crusha milkshake

Cola cubes

Cyb · 14/01/2010 12:38

Arctic Roll is pretty much the same apart from the sponge used to way thicker.

I love Arctic Roll

Poledra · 14/01/2010 12:39

I hated sandwich spread - looked like cold sick and smelt worse.

DH was bitterly disappointed last year when he got some Toast Toppers - he said they just weren't the same. I suggested adding a tablespoon of salt to it as that was probably what was missing

RolandButter · 14/01/2010 12:39

my mum who NEVER buys processed anything has a penchant for Vienetta now we have all left home.

she would never have bought this in Auchtermuchty in the 70s why now?

SauerKraut · 14/01/2010 12:39

Black Jacks. The "Blast from the Past" ones are truly disgusting. The recipe obviously got lost.

Cyb · 14/01/2010 12:40

Because , like my Mum, she probably can't be arsed to cook anymore. My Mum never makes anything now

MayorNaze · 14/01/2010 12:40

Angel delight does taste good, in a powdery sort of way, but me and my dh felt quite ill after eating it recently (had not eaten it for 30 years). It clearly isn't edible, really.

BadGardener · 14/01/2010 12:42

Lots of the chocolate that used to seem posh now tastes vile, eg Quality Street. Not sure if this is because it's changed or if it's just we're all spoiled by our Lindt 70% cocoa stuff....

RolandButter · 14/01/2010 12:43

ah now

am choc snob - will not eat normal stuff ( cadbury galaxy)BUT can stomach a creme egg

why

Those ready made flan basess, which you put peach slices or mandarin segments in, then cover it with a glaze mix out of the packet.

My gran used to make these and to my 8 year old mind they were the height of sophistication (a Devon childhood). MIL made one a couple of months back and it was vile - sticky sap covering slimy fruit on top of packaging material.

Fray bentos pies. Don't try these in a fit of nostalgia as they are truly vile - the meat bits are scary. Plus, althoigh I liked the slimy pastry when i was kid, I don't as an adult.

Supermousse - saw these recently in sainsbos and boight them in a fit of nostalgia - vile.

JustAnotherManicMummy · 14/01/2010 12:46
