Happy New Year!
Intermittently contributed to these threads but find them useful for ideas so will try to do better this year.

Today - turkey ham and leek pie
Tomorrow - tuna steaks
Sat - chipotle lamb chops
Sun - roast chicken.

Will do next week’s on Sunday.

Oceanrudeness · 01/01/2026 09:28

Hi all, I meant to join this thread last year but never got around to it! My meal plan week goes Friday to Thursday with shopping delivered on Thursday evening.

F soup and bread
S Homemade Pizza & wedges
S Tray bake Chicken Fajitas, with coriander and lime rice, guac, salad etc
M same
T Chilli and wedges or rice
W same
T Spag bol

I try to cook something in the oven on the weekend and then shove a load of other stuff in at the same time. So the fajitas; rice; and chilli will be cooked in the oven at the same time as the pizza. Makes life a bit easier as we then have meals ready to eat after work, and saves on the electric as well! Also tend to pick meals that share ingredients to reduce food waste. Looking forward to seeing and being inspired by people's plans!

Girlintheframe · 01/01/2026 09:32

Ooh I love a meal planner

today - Christmas pie and kale
friday - butternut squash Mac and cheese
Satursay - prawn creamy pasta
Sunday - rogan Josh

Grumpynan · 01/01/2026 09:46

My DD is going into hospital on Tuesday so I’ve let her plan for the next few days, all her favourite meals.

today - roast lamb and all the trimmings
saturday - jackets with beans and cheese
sunday - lasagne
monday - rotisserie chicken with stir fry mixed veg and rice

she will hopefully be home in a couple of weeks and she’s requested Chinese takeout, she says because that will be ok if she’s a day or two early or late and will allow for whatever time they discharge her.

while she’s away DH has requested all her real dislikes knowing full well that when she’s home I will be on spoil my baby mode for a little while 😂

list includes

beef stew and dumplings
shepherds pie
egg and chips
taco (because I like that )
fish pie
any curry multiple times
no pasta ever in any shape.

good start to the new year I suppose 🥹🙄

SharpLemonShark · 01/01/2026 09:48

Happy new year @Lastqueenofscotland2 and thanks for the new thread 😃

I missed most of the 2025 thread having taken a long break from MN for a good chunk of the year. After a difficult year for various reasons I’m trying to get back to meal planning and particularly to using beans and lentils more often.

Last night was haddock with leek, spinach & pea orzotto
Today: Celeriac, leek & potato gratin, veggie sausages. Think I’ll make leek & potato soup for lunches next week too.
Fri: Bean burgers, salad, wedges
Sat: Smoked mackerel pasta
Sun: Mushroom & lentil hotpot, veg

EndorsingPRActice · 01/01/2026 09:50

today we have steak, mash and veggies. I haven't planned beyond today, though I do usually plan a few days ahead. My DS is back to uni early next week so will do one of his favourites at the weekend, possibly meat balls in tomato sauce, baby roasties and sweetcorn.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/01/2026 10:24

Thanks @Lastqueenofscotland2 and Happy New Year everyone.

Last night I did a tortellini bake before friends came round for Christmas pudding and drinks.

Today we’re having the rest of the Christmas Day nut roast, with dauphinois, garlic and Parmesan green beans and carrots.

We’re at the theatre tomorrow night so will either eat out beforehand or just have something quick before we leave.

No idea for the weekend, but will meal plan properly to start on Monday. I’m fancying lots of spice, citrus and crunch!

Makelikeatreeandleaf · 01/01/2026 11:34

Happy New Year! Thanks for the new thread Lastqueen. I'm place marking at the moment as one of my jobs over the next few days is sorting out the cupboards, so will plan for next week based on using up stuff. Today however is ramen, I am a tad hungover and need something clean and reviving.

ByMintSnail · 01/01/2026 12:16

Those all sound lovely 😋 and a very nice reset after cheese and cake! Lemon asparagus risotto and pasta e fagioli are real comfort meals. I might steal the idea of pesto beans on sourdough too.

Snakebite61 · 01/01/2026 18:25

There's nothing normal about that.

What ? They’re all perfectly normal meals to eat . Odd comment

CandiedPrincess · 01/01/2026 21:02

Checking in for 2026! Here are my first meals of the year, not sure of order yet...

Cherry tomato, anchovy and white bean gratin
Black chickpea & paneer curry
Spicy root & lentil casserole
Smokey aubergine & red kidney bean tacos
Red lentil pasta with chorizo & broccoli

I am trying to eat more vegetarian this year, with a focus on beans, grains, pulses etc. Don't want to put a label on it as I'll still use some meat and fish but it will be more limited. Also trying lentil pasta as normal pasta bloats me so badly, that I've avoided it for the past year.

robinslittlehelper · 01/01/2026 21:14

I love a tin of evaporated milk in leek and potato soup. The children love it .

SpaceOP · 01/01/2026 21:25

Thanks @Lastqueenofscotland2. I find it weird how the thread fills up as we reach the end of the year!

Just checking in. I need to plan from Saturday. I want more salad and fibre so am planning to do a little digging around for ideas for suitably substantial winter food of this style. Maybe a lot more fish as that lends itself and dh and ds love a bit of fish.

OneFunnyPearlTurtle · 01/01/2026 22:23

Today we had turkey, ham, leek and mushroom pie with new potatoes and asparagus.
Friday - leftover pie with mash and pease.
Saturday - kedgeree
sunday and Monday - roast rolled stuffed turkey thighs and usual roast veg
tuesday - ravioli lasagne, veg
wednedsay - honey & mustard chicken thighs, new potatoes, veg
Thursday - sausage, mash, baked beans
Friday - salmon burgers

lbnblbnb · 01/01/2026 22:29

i need to make a list of what we have, veg and fridge, then come back with a plan. Lots of good ideas so far.

random123456 · 01/01/2026 22:35

I really need to get back into meal planning. I do find it hard though as things change regularly for us due to husbands work. Plan for the next few days is ;

prawn biryani
pork schnitzels with sauerkraut
baked salmon with lemon & dill sauce
campfire chili stew
baked potatoes with beans/cheese/slaw
spaghetti bolognese

random123456 · 01/01/2026 22:36

I went through the freezer today to see what needed clearing out!

Citygirlrurallife · 02/01/2026 00:58

Hello mealnplanners!

I dropped off last year after doing a MN break but I missed my favourite thread - thanks @Lastqueenofscotland2

we are still away in Iceland with friends for the new year and back tomorrow night.

saturday will be risotto as I’m determined to get DS nailing a basic recipe this half term, and ask DH to do sunday

then I’ll plan for the week ahead so mainly placemarking for now

StartingOverInMy40s · 02/01/2026 09:15

I’m going to join in this year as I need some inspiration. My DH is the fussiest eater so I struggle for ideas - no onions, tomatoes, herbs and very little spice which makes meals complicated. Add to that the fact that I am needing to be low card as diabetic and you can imagine how exciting our meals are 🤣

SpaceOP · 02/01/2026 09:33

Inhave been very very slack in teaching ds to cook. Perhaps this is the year I insist he learns. He can do very very basic stuff but hes almost 15, there's no excuse! Perhaps this should be a new years resolution for me!

brightnails · 02/01/2026 09:51

placemarking and can I ask if anyone’s doing a veggie version so I can shamelessly follow? not fully veggie but that’s what I like to cook thanks

SharpLemonShark · 02/01/2026 09:53

So, next weeks meals decided:

Mon: Spicy peanut noodles with tofu & veg
Tues: Burnt aubergine chilli with rice (made the chilli yesterday for the freezer as I was up at 6am on my flipping day off…)
Wed: Lemon garlic cod, baby potatoes & greens
Thurs: Cauli broccoli macaroni cheese
Fri: Veg & chickpea flatbreads with harissa dressing
Sat: Omelettes, salad, wedges
Sun: Fish pie with colcannon mash, veg

The order may change but I’m hoping to stick to the plan overall.

I have today off and just want to stay in and potter so am going to make leek & potato soup and a roast veg soup to use up veggies going a bit soft in the fridge.
