I tried to load this before so sorry if it appears twice.
I am a sandwich lover and go through phases of loving a particuar one.
At the moment my fave is bbq chicken ( from the supermarket) chopped , sultanas, s and p, with celery, red onions and walnuts ( all diced tiny) , smothered in good egg mayo. On buttered fresh white bread.
I'm getting tired of it after a month so am after new ideas please.
I have heaps more but I've done them for a month each too.
Thanks

This is my favourite - it bumps the cost of a meal deal up from £3.50 to £5.00 though.

marmarmalade · 23/06/2024 04:59

Oh that sounds delicious. Not in UK so don't get meal deals but would definitely make that .
Ta for reply
Adding on my 2nd favourite ( I'm trying to get a long list started here people!:))
It's turkey slices on multigrain with cranberry and alfalfa sprouts in triangles. Up the pepper.

Currently I'm making tapas style sandwiches (because it is Spanish week in Lidl) nice bread, sort of a baguette but not as crispy, ibérico ham topped with a slice of brie.

A couple of olives on the side and I'm happy.

Overtheatlantic · 23/06/2024 05:16

Turkey, bacon, egg mayo, mustard and gherkin on toasted white bread. Divine.

I am a sucker for anything with mayo and gherkins

My 3rd fave is a bit random.
Sliced roast beef, sliced roast sweet potato, swiss cheese, rocket and mango chutney on a toasted white roll. I'm going to have to make that now and my DH is going to kill me. He's only just recovering from my chicken celery and walnut phase.

Csn I suggest a toastie option? Currently I love mushroom and blue cheese toastie, with rocket and quick pickle red onions. Although thinking about it it would be good as a cold sandwich too.

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 23/06/2024 08:22

Cream cheese, grated carrot & radish, thinly sliced celery and cress

Deedeeee · 23/06/2024 08:52

My fave sandwich is the Italian Prosciutto Baguette from Pret A Manger . Has sharp hard cheese, tomato, basil. Tangy. Delicious. Goes well with a hot chocolate. Only ever have these on train journeys, especially good in winter. It’s odd, since I dont particularly like prosciutto the way some do (son hoovers it up, on its own). But in a sandwich, bueno 😁

Ecci · 23/06/2024 11:24

Bacon and beetroot (not pickled) on wholemeal bread. Food of the gods!

Can you get pastrami? It's AMAZING with gerkins

minipie · 23/06/2024 11:35

Prawn, avocado, cucumber, dill, chives, mayo/yoghurt mix

Chicken, celery, grapes, apple, walnuts, mayo/yoghurt mix (sounds like you already do this or similar)

Mozzarella, tomato, sun dried tomato pesto, basil leaves

Roasted peppers and red onion, goats cheese or halloumi, fresh thyme.

Leftover roast pork, salad leaves, mustard mayo (or applesauce).

Leftover BBQ meat (any kind) and coleslaw

Bacon and butter.

Coronation Chicken with red onion, lettuce, cucumber, mango chutney and poppadoms on soft bloomer bread - so good!

DaffydownClock · 23/06/2024 11:41

BLT is my favourite.
Try crunchy peanut butter with chopped celery, cold roast pork and beetroot or crispy bacon, Brie, cranberry sauce and mayo.

SiobhanSharpe · 23/06/2024 11:45

I love a toasted fish finger Reuben, ideally on thick multiseed bread, or on caraway seeded rye bread (the latter untoasted)
The filling should be several grilled fish fingers, slice(s) of cheese like gruyère, sliced dill pickle or large gherkins, warm sauerkraut and a spicy mayo dressing, eg good mayo with some hot chilli sauce or pickle mixed in.
They're a bit of a challenge to co-ordinate and assemble. And messy to eat but absolutely divine.

Funkyslippers · 23/06/2024 11:49

I like a toasted ham, cheese, onion, wholegrain mustard & tomato sandwich and I add lettuce & salad cream to it

Nellieinthebarn · 23/06/2024 11:51

I'm quite pedestrian in my choice of sandwich, mainly sticking to the classics based on cheese and ham, but I do like a chicken mayonnaise with watercress and marmite. Its good on any bread, but best on a nice chewy sourdough.

StripedPiggy · 23/06/2024 11:51

Leftover roast lamb, microwaved until just warm, with Dijon mustard & rocket on a freshly baked baguette.

KnickerlessParsons · 23/06/2024 11:55

You can't beat good quality ham with Dijon mustard, salty butter and a crusty white roll IMO

AdaColeman · 23/06/2024 11:59

Thickly sliced ham with egg mayonnaise, mustard on the side.

Rare roast beef and anchovies.

Chicken Caesar salad in a bun, lashings of dressing!

Toasted sardine sandwich with plenty of lemon juice and pepper.

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 23/06/2024 12:16

Bacon, avocado and feta. Surprisingly delicious.

Seldom do this as it's a faff but sometimes at this time of year I roast asparagus wrapped in parma ham and on the tray I always put a head of garlic and a few tomatoes. But if I can save enough for a sandwich the next day, with a bit of cream cheese... delicious.

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 23/06/2024 12:20

Hummus, tomato, black olives and rocket.

It has to be on seeded sourdough though!

Phineyj · 23/06/2024 12:24

Chicken stir fried in soy with an equal quantity of hummus. In some kind of wrap, ideally with a few chips.

DullFanFiction · 23/06/2024 12:33

I absolutely love all your ideas!
Gping to steal a few of them I think 😁😁

mondaytosunday · 23/06/2024 12:36

This will be devisive, but my favourite sandwich is brie, crispy bacon and apricot jam on white bread. Pop in microwave to melt the Brie slightly. Also works either way cream cheese (don't heat it though), and for extra indulgence use brioche bread!
