I tried to load this before so sorry if it appears twice.
I am a sandwich lover and go through phases of loving a particuar one.
At the moment my fave is bbq chicken ( from the supermarket) chopped , sultanas, s and p, with celery, red onions and walnuts ( all diced tiny) , smothered in good egg mayo. On buttered fresh white bread.
I'm getting tired of it after a month so am after new ideas please.
I have heaps more but I've done them for a month each too.
Thanks

Simple Sandwich soul here.

Fresh white baguette spread with a little Lurpak. Boursin Poivre and slices of large vine tomatoes that smell of your grandad’s green house. Walkers ready salted on the side.

Sadly these days more likely to be cottage cheese salad 🙄

Smoked salmon, avocado, capers, chargrilled peppers/capsicums, artichoke hearts on 9 grain bread. Yum.

Hedgeoffressian · 23/06/2024 21:20

I have a sandwich press at home and love a cheddar and tuna melt. I often have it with chilli jam or a bit of American mustard.

Cheese, apple, and carrot, all grated and mixed together with salad cream.

I like the sound of that, I usually add to tomato and red onion to the cheese and grated carrot. But I will try apple.
I always the think the key is to have double the grated carrot to grated cheese.

Apart from this, thanks for the thread. I love a sandwich, shop ones are disappointing.
I can’t taste much at the moment, so fresh with different textures is what I go for.

One of the nicest sandwiches I ever had was from a very busy popular Italian run deli, somewhere in London. The bread was great, and whatever filling I chose, excellent, the second best one, was called a skinny something, Boots the chemist used to sell them and it was full of grated carrot, homous, nd rocket I think, plus peppers, and other veg. Yum

Years ago Boots did these tuna, humous, red peppers, grated carrot and coriander sandwiches. I still miss them.

Also love the Pret mini jambon beurre baguettes with cornichons.

Home made - can’t beat a BLT with jalapeños!

Oooh I wonder if that Boots sandwich is the one I was thinking of, but I’m sure mine was the veggie version. Delicious, I thought they were called something like Skinny Cow, or similar

Camembert and white peach on top of thick wholemeal baguette slices

Camembert, avocado, crispy bacon and cranberry with lemon mayo on whole grain

Pastrami, stilton and pickles in mayonnaise with lots of pepper. It was on the menu of my favourite fancy sandwichshop years ago.

Philpotts? I had one this week through think it was jalapeños instead of pickles.

Yes! It was jalapeños, I remember now. I stopped working in the city centre many years ago and still think of that sandwich. I tried making it myself but it is never quite the same (might try it again with the chillies instead of pickles though!)

Granary bread, one slice spread with horseradish, covered in lots of thinly sliced rare roast beef, sliced room temperature vine tomato and a handful of rocket. Butter, salt and pepper the other slice to top it off. Perfect.
A cheese and onion toastie is also a thing of joy but I'd still have tomato and rocket on the side!

murasaki · 23/06/2024 22:26

I am very fond of a basic fishfinger sandwich, got to be 4 bird's-eye ones, white sliced (crusts cut off as I hate them), butter, mayo and salt.

Garlicnaan · 23/06/2024 22:28

Hummus, grated carrot, baby spinach, toasted pine nuts, beansprouts, balsamic glaze on toasted ciabatta... Yum

I used to get these hot salt beef sandwiches with gherkins and mustard many years back from a little cafe and they were absolutely epic.

MrsW9 · 23/06/2024 23:24

Chorizo, sliced Gouda, rocket and garlic mayo.

BestZebbie · 24/06/2024 01:56

Crusty white baguette filled with a mixture of chopped raw red cabbage, red/yellow sweet pepper and avocado.

Mock duck with a tiny bit of plum sauce and thinly chopped cucumber, in a wrap.

Waffle78 · 24/06/2024 03:21

Coronation chicken even easier to make now Hellman's do it.

Tuna mayo spring onion and sweetcorn so underrated. Have to have decent tuna though. Either Princes or John West.

Egg mixed with cottage cheese instead of mayo chives and cress lots of black pepper.

And last but not least bacon brie and cherry tomatoes on a toastie.

Just don't do the same for a month you won't get bored so quick.

Waffle78 · 24/06/2024 03:23

Forgot about smoked salmon cream cheese and avocado.

DiscoBeat · 24/06/2024 04:47

Yesterday I made a pastrami, chilli jam and spinach sandwich with Sainsburys pumpkin seeds loaf, it was lovely.

sashh · 24/06/2024 05:59

Bacon, lettice and creme fraiche in pita is one I should do more of.

cavernclub · 24/06/2024 06:49

My all time favourite- Stilton, ham and cucumber on fresh granary

dottiedodah · 24/06/2024 09:12

Only avalible at Christmas I think .but M and S do a gorgeous Turkey bacon and cranberry sauce one! Otherwise prawn cocktail, chicken and avocado or good old Tuna!

PadstowGirl · 24/06/2024 09:29

Roasted peppers, onions and courgettes, with houmous on granary.

Or with feta and olives stuffed into a pitta.

PadstowGirl · 24/06/2024 09:32

Irish salad sandwiches are great too.

Chop up lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes and spring onions really small, add chopped egg and salad cream, salt and pepper and that's it.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 24/06/2024 11:06

My absolute favourite sandwich was from Philpotts in Manchester

Granary bread
Cranberry sauce
Stuffing
Turkey
Very crispy bacon
Lettuce
Onion
Egg
Drizzle of mayo

Best. Sandwich. Ever.

I used to live in Hertfordshire where there's a chain of bakeries called Simmons. They did a hot toasted focaccia with pastrami, gherkins, onion, mustard and cheese that was absolutely amazing. There are a number of things I miss about Hertfordshire and Simmons is definitely one of them.

HowardTJMoon · 24/06/2024 12:53

Tuna mayo spring onion and sweetcorn so underrated. Have to have decent tuna though. Either Princes or John West.

Throw in some capers and you're talking my language.

NetballHoop · 24/06/2024 14:49

Naice ham, mango chutney, cheddar and black olives.
