What do you eat it with?
i tried it on the side but it blew my mouth off
apparently as a pancake is good but that is a big effort for me

Yuk no. Why would I want to eat spicy compost? A work trip to Korea when I was pregnant means the slightest whiff gives me the bauk.

Margo34 · 14/02/2023 21:33

Yes, regularly. Kimchi fried rice is my fave!

Crumpetdisappointment · 14/02/2023 21:34

it is stinking out the fridge now i have opened the packet
perhaps tomorrow with fried rice, thanks,

I have done in Korea but not since. It’s not that nice

MrsMikeHeck · 14/02/2023 21:34

I just eat it with an avocado.

Fairysilver · 14/02/2023 21:35

I've tried it because it's very good for you, especially if you've taken antibiotics recently as I have. Also keffir. I dislike them both but persevere.
I find sauerkraut more palatable but I doubt I'll ever actually like them.

tillytoodles1 · 14/02/2023 21:35

I eat kimchi noodles. They have a spice pack but that's it.

AlphaAlpha · 14/02/2023 21:36

Love kimchi.
Had it as a side with my ham, egg and chips tonight.
Love it with salads, noodles, chicken - anything really.
I need to make my own as it's costing me a small fortune.

JazzyGeoff · 14/02/2023 21:36

I scramble a spoonful with eggs, so I get a kimchi omelette type thing

Crumpetdisappointment · 14/02/2023 21:37

oh i could do that @JazzyGeoff

Kimchi pancake is great and very simple if you find the right recipe

Also good in kimchi soup, kimchi rice, with noodles (even instant noodles if you need something quick)

My favourite is probably either shallow fried kimchi dumplings or kimchi on top of black bean noodles

Kimchi is super healthy and if you're looking to incorporate it into your diet for health reasons but cant stand heat you can find non spicy types, also the cabbage type is not the only type available if you want more variety

Crumpetdisappointment · 14/02/2023 21:42

thank you @kagerou

Love Kimchi. Make it myself; have a big jar in the fridge right now. Eat it as an accompaniment to Korean/Japanese dishes, or in cheese toasties (for DH) or omelette (for me).

I’ve also got a big jar of Scandinavian-style pickled red cabbage, and will soon make a jar-full of Russian-style sauerkraut with white cabbage and carrot. Fermented foods are very good for your gut health (and delicious, too!).

MrsHaroldRobbins · 14/02/2023 21:43

I love it too. Got into it when I worked near a fabulous Korean restaurant, everyone in the office used to go regularly. I'll have it as a side to many things. Cottage pie, sausages, etc. Or as a previous poster said, with avocado and a green salad.

Andante57 · 14/02/2023 21:45

I make it regularly and I eat it with just about everything but dh only eats it with Korean food. Mine is less fiery than some of the authentic Korean versions but friends and family seem to like it.
I’ve got addicted to it.

quietnightmare · 14/02/2023 21:47

I always have it/make it as a starter

TheExistentialistCafé · 14/02/2023 21:48

I squeeze a whole lemon on mine and just eat it straight out of a bowl. Agree with PP , it is addictive!

Bimblybomeyelash · 14/02/2023 21:50

I love kimchi! I have it with fried rice, rice bowls and with fried eggs. I don’t find it overly spicy.

IScreamMonday · 14/02/2023 21:51

Lazy lunch is miso broth, noodles and big spoonful of kimchi. Or with rice and steamed salmon or something.

waltty · 14/02/2023 21:54

I have it with cheese and crisp breads , delicious

I eat kimchi noodles. They have a spice pack but that's it.

Do they still sell them in Costco, I've looked for the past 12 months in the one near me and nothing 🤷‍♀️ makes me sad

ChairOfInvisibleStudies · 14/02/2023 21:56

On a rice cake with hummus. Weird but compelling.

AwfulBeryl · 14/02/2023 21:59

I have it on the side of japanese or Korean dishes. I love it. Don't think I'm hardcore enough to est it on its own though

Givemestrengthorvodka · 14/02/2023 22:00

I love it with thick slices of roast ham and salad, yum

clare8allthepies · 14/02/2023 22:04

I have quite liked kimchi the couple of times that I’ve tried it. Don’t think I could be bothered to make my own though, is there a particular brand that’s good?
