Dinner party on Sunday. Making bouillabaisse which is an absolute faff and just cannot be bothered to spend more than 5 minutes on dessert.

Apart from buying something premade what can I go with?

Edinburgh Fog with raspberries. Takes 2 mins to prepare.

SinoohXaenaHide · 13/10/2021 21:25

@Tidypidy

Eton mess, especially if you put the separate bits on the table for everyone to help themselves.
If you put the separate bits on the table for everyone to help themselves then it's Eton Tidy, not Eton Mess.

@Tuliptulip

This - it’s amazing. Make it now and bung it in the freezer (I leave out the nuts to make it even easier). Half an hour before serving (or slightly earlier) take it out. That is all you have to do on the day!
That looks lovely. Family recipe?
Bjarnum · 13/10/2021 21:34

Ginger and lime icecream - googol the recipe. Very easy, unusual and lovely

allthekittles · 13/10/2021 22:56

Tiramisu my suggestion too. Been making this version for years. Everyone raves about it snd it basically takes 10minutes and fine to make day before https://www.waitrose.com/home/recipes/recipedirectory/q/quickk_tiramisu.html

pinkhampoppy · 14/10/2021 04:51

Vanilla pana cotta

Honey semifreddo

Both Nigella recipes

pinkhampoppy · 14/10/2021 04:55

Or the chocolate bit from Nigella's smoke salt chocolate tart, served in espresso cups.

guffaux · 14/10/2021 16:19

@whiskyxray

Eton mess

AdaColeman · 15/10/2021 01:21

Affogato, serve with some nice little biscuits

Pear Belle Hélène

Mont Blanc

Jerrysgonnabeacableboy · 15/10/2021 01:24

You guys are all seriously fancy!

I think you missed the suggestion of a giant bowl of frozen M&Ms Grin

definatiz · 16/10/2021 21:59

Lemon Tiramisu uses lemoncilla instead of coffee easy and yummy, if you want it to look fancy so some piping on top

Hummingbirdcake · 16/10/2021 22:16

Magissa’s amaretti/Amaretto ideas sound amazing.

userxx · 16/10/2021 22:23

@Limer

Syllabub with crushed amaretti biscuits.

That reminds me of my mums dinners parties in the 80's.

Musthurry · 16/10/2021 22:26

Lemon syllabub (Katie Stewart recipe) best if allowed to sit in fridge in tiny glasses for a day or so in advance as the flavours develop more fully that way.

HereticFanjo · 16/10/2021 22:34

I love this thread 😁

FreddieStandensBFF · 16/10/2021 23:03

Eton Mess with shop-bought meringue is a crime against humanity. Ditto vegan version.

Just needed to get that off my chest.
As you were.

Ostryga · 17/10/2021 10:02

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for this!! This thread is a treasure trove of easy and fabulous desserts.

We have gone for … a box of v fancy chocolates to have with coffee Grin

Yes I am that lazy!! But honestly there’s so many amazing ideas and recipes here, so glad I asked!

You've chosen the best dessert! No prep at all. Smile

TaleOfTheContinents · 17/10/2021 22:57

A friend once made us poached peaches with a scoop of excellent vanilla bean ice-cream and raspberry puree drizzled over it. Was delightful, light enough to end a big meal and wouldn't take long.

Keladrythesaviour · 17/10/2021 23:10

Affogato! Ice cream, amaretto biscuits and a shot of coffee. After a big dinner it's a lovely dessert and we do it all the time. Offer up a cheese board in case people are peckish.

Buy something from Cook.
