Dinner party on Sunday. Making bouillabaisse which is an absolute faff and just cannot be bothered to spend more than 5 minutes on dessert.

Apart from buying something premade what can I go with?

Croissants, half, add cream and tinned/thawed raspberries to the middle. Drizzle in chocolate sauce.

Gingerodgers · 13/10/2021 07:30

Affogato. Yum vanilla ice cream. Espresso shot, crumbled amaretto biscuit. Easy

Some of these suggestions wouldn’t even make my ‘I have endless time & budget & skill’ dessert list! Grin

There are dessert ‘points’ to be had by going with very seasonal (or alternately very exotic) fruits, plus a drizzle or sprinkle. Or both.

I’d do Any Spanking Fresh Seasonal Fruit + crushed bought meringue sprinkle + Fancy Honey Drizzle.

I reckon that’s 4 minutes to tip into bowls, tops. Or 3 minutes if you do it on a platter and offer a serving spoon.

If you want to kick it up any further than that, serve a small dessert wine sort of thing on the side, with the option for people to pour it over. People go crazy for participation!

Nigella's salted caramel sauce with vanilla ice cream? Can make ahead and warm up - even microwave

NewlyGranny · 13/10/2021 07:41

A big passionfruit pavlova! It's my MEMI dessert: minimum effort for maximum impact.

Peppaismyrolemodel · 13/10/2021 07:42

Fresh mango, Greek yoghurt, honey

JumperandJacket · 13/10/2021 07:43

Cheesecake base or buy a ready made tart case.

Filling- mix 1 tub mascarpone with 1 jar lemon curd

Stick some raspberries on top.

JumperandJacket · 13/10/2021 07:45

Or just do cheese plus stick some bars of dark choc out.

foxgoosefinch · 13/10/2021 07:48

Figs are in season at the moment - so fresh figs with mascarpone drizzled with honey, looks lovely but so easy to make. Plus some dessert wine or a liqueur.

Add a really nice cheese (goat’s cheese?) with some oatcakes and fruit as an alternative!

@wtfisthatspiderdoing

Pretend you're going fashionably retro... butterscotch angel delight decorated with chocolate buttons!
Would love to do this Wink
MydogWillow · 13/10/2021 07:52

Eton mess.

Itstheweekendyasssss · 13/10/2021 12:36

Figs on side, ricotta cheese spread out in dish, walnuts sprinkled over the top and then runny honey drizzled over or on table. If no nut issues this is delish x

Rainbowshit · 13/10/2021 12:37

Pavlova

revampneeded · 13/10/2021 18:50

Another ice cream one: tin of black cherries, enough lemon juice to balance the sweetness, some brandy, reduce a bit and pour over some good vanilla. (Flambé the brandy if you're feeling theatrical. )

AlfonsoTheDinosaur · 13/10/2021 19:05

Pour melted white chocolate over frozen mixed berries.

LynetteScavo · 13/10/2021 21:02

@AlfonsoTheDinosaur

Pour melted white chocolate over frozen mixed berries.

Do the berries melt? Or do people eat frozen berries? Confused (Or do you melt the berries first?)

Applesarenice · 13/10/2021 21:05

Eton mess

schnubbins · 13/10/2021 21:13

Panna Cotta is also easy.Milk and cream heated in a pot , Vanilla pod and gelatine mixed through , into dishes , refrigerate and serve with berries and whipped cream .Yum!

Bipbopbee · 13/10/2021 21:18

Cranachan

WhiskyXray · 13/10/2021 21:20

Pavlova isn't quick, done properly, as you have to add the caster sugar so incredibly slowly.

I would buy a grenade tiramisu from Tesco tbh!

WhiskyXray · 13/10/2021 21:21

premade* tiramisu

DollyBantry · 13/10/2021 21:21

Nigella chocolate pavlova. Make the meringue the night before, leave in oven overnight, top with whipped cream and fresh berries. Easy as.

PermanentTemporary · 13/10/2021 21:22

Affogato

Tidypidy · 13/10/2021 21:22

Eton mess, especially if you put the separate bits on the table for everyone to help themselves.
