Dinner party on Sunday. Making bouillabaisse which is an absolute faff and just cannot be bothered to spend more than 5 minutes on dessert.

Apart from buying something premade what can I go with?

Ready made brandy baskets, fill with mascarpone, spoon defrosted mixed berries and released juices over.

spotcheck · 12/10/2021 23:21

You guys are all seriously fancy!
😂

@leavesthataregreen

This sort of thing (I haven't needed the recipe for years as I've made this far too many times but I think this is probably the recipe where I started)

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/racheleats.wordpress.com/2009/01/12/hot-gooey-chocolate-puddings/amp/

If you're in a hurry you can melt the chocolate and butter in the microwave on its very lowest setting but you need to stir every 30 seconds.

I don't bother dusting/greasing the ramekins. If you don't overcook them they don't stick anyway as they're full of butter!

Orange and lemon boodle.
Break trifle sponges into trifle type dish. Whip pot of cream, add juice of several oranges and lemons to cream. Mix into sponges and leave in fridge until ready to serve. Add grated chocolate shavings to the surface before you serve.

DoubleShotEspresso · 12/10/2021 23:37

Baked Alaska

Sweetnhappy1 · 12/10/2021 23:55

Definitely Bailey's banana triffle:

guffaux · 13/10/2021 00:05

affogato, get some seriously good vanilla ice cream, (or make your own well in advance) excellent espresso, serve separately,

add some booja-booja 'around midnight' dark chocolate truffles on the side and a good brandy

or
armagnac prunes with good vanilla icecream

Whatwouldnanado · 13/10/2021 00:20

Lump of brie.Oatcakes. Grapes. Walnuts. Port.

PegasusReturns · 13/10/2021 00:24

Pavlova or Brownies.

pheonixrebirth · 13/10/2021 00:32

Eton mess with a sprig of fresh mint as a garnish which obviously came fresh from your garden/Morrison's! 😉

SortCode · 13/10/2021 00:46

Shop bought profiterole tower

LynetteScavo · 13/10/2021 06:42

I would do brownies or Creme brûlée

Callmecordelia · 13/10/2021 06:47

Pain au chocolat pudding. Buy packs of pain au chocolats and posh vanilla custard in pots. Preheat oven to 160.

Chop the pain au chocolate across, then arrange in a dish sideways so they look like swirls. Pour custard over, leave for ten minutes, put in oven, bake for 45.

It's like bread and butter pudding, only better.

Raspberry meringue pie

Line the base of an over proof dish with sponge fingers
Cover these with a bag of frozen raspberries
Whip up some meringue, blob this on top of raspberries
Cool as if for meringue

VinoBianca · 13/10/2021 06:56

Panacotta but best done first thing in the morning as it needs to set

ivykaty44 · 13/10/2021 06:59

homemade lemon ice cream

todayscreativelife.com/3-ingredient-no-churn-lemon-ice-cream/

or James martins home made lemon posset

www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/lemonpossetwithlemon_85812

buy the shortbread or something from Aldi that will look good on the side or don't bother about the biscuit as the pudding itself is enough and delicious

ivykaty44 · 13/10/2021 07:01

@guffaux. im inviting myself to yours for the prunes

Botanica · 13/10/2021 07:02

Got to be Eton mess!

Magissa · 13/10/2021 07:09

Amaretti affogatto

Into individual coffee cups put in some good quality vanilla ice cream.
Add to each cup a shot of espresso
Crush amaretti biscuits and sprinkle over.

Even better - My Sil makes it in wine glasses minus the coffee but with a shot of amaretto instead. Delicious.

This is my favourite recipe for the melt in the middle chocolate puddings.

I think they're extra high impact because you turn them out. The trouble is needing the little dishes but they sell them in Asda (or did last time I was there).

profpoopsnagle · 13/10/2021 07:12

You see I'd go down the Vienetta route!

plk323 · 13/10/2021 07:15

Mary Berry's lemon cheesecake. Melt some butter and crush the biscuits for the base, mix lemon curd with mascarpone and stick in the fridge. Seems to be liked by guests.

You see I'd go down the Vienetta route!
In a low moment of trying to find a dessert for my gluten free MIL, I bought a Viennetta recently. It was quite passable in a 1980s retro way...
MyCatDribbles · 13/10/2021 07:16

I agree with pavlova
It’s embarrassingly easy

NormallyFairlyLevelHeaded · 13/10/2021 07:21

A friend serves thick full fat Greek yoghurt with defrosted fruit, chopped nuts and choc shavings and honey on the table. It’s lovely.
