Will you be having it tomorrow?
Links or no links, what are you serving it with?

Yes to steak pie but no links. Home made chips and broccoli/cauliflower cheese

DrWAnker · 31/12/2019 17:44

Breaking with tradition and having it now! Just waiting for tatties and carrots to cook.
Mash and baby carrots.
No sausage. Only heard of that addition a few years ago, never put sausage in my pie Grin

AteAllTheAfterEights · 31/12/2019 17:46

No links, I buy them from butcher then put all meat in a pot with extra gravy and cook pastry in oven as it’s easier to dish up. Mashed tatties, mashed neeps and sprouts

Justmuddlingalong · 31/12/2019 17:48

No links. Rolls and square sausage for breakfast though. Grin

Ceejly · 31/12/2019 17:50

Steak pie, no links you monster. Local butcher. Roast potatoes and peas. Treacle tart afterwards.

jobbymcginty · 31/12/2019 17:50

Yes steak pie with mash no links though ever heard of that before is it regional?

SlightlyStaleCocoPops · 31/12/2019 17:52

Nowt wrong with sausages in a steak pie. Cauliflower cheese, on the other hand...

thistimelastweek · 31/12/2019 17:53

Home made steak pie. No links. Mashed potatoes and mashed turnip with broccoli (supermarket didn't have the sprouts I like).

DarkHumour · 31/12/2019 17:53

Steak pie with beef links from the local butcher - can’t wait! Will serve with roast potatoes and carrots.

IHaveBrilloHair · 31/12/2019 18:00

Homemade here (Not the pastry though, who the fuck can be arsed with that?) with beef links.
I'm doing sprouts and sweet potato mash and extra gravy.
Not until the 2nd though as that's when Dd is coming over.

Stew just on here for tomorrow. Beef links added tomorrow and pastry in oven separately. Mashed tatties and carrots and neeps.

IHaveBrilloHair · 31/12/2019 18:03

My Mum was from Ayrshire, she always put links in the pie, so now I do, we live in a wee town on the Clyde.

As an Edinburgh person who spent 10 years in the wild West (paisley), I can confirm that the steak/sausage combo is a West Coast thing.

PurpleBee39 · 31/12/2019 18:03

Hi everyone, do you have any recipes you could share please? Sounds really yummy!

Chocolatedeficitdisorder · 31/12/2019 18:04

Paisley with a capital P obviously, although my phone doesn't think so.

IHaveBrilloHair · 31/12/2019 18:05

Pastry in the oven separately?
That's a new one on me, do you do it in individual portions, or put the whole thing in then cut after?

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 31/12/2019 18:07

Dh cuts pastry into individual portions before cooking.

jobbymcginty · 31/12/2019 18:08

I'm in Fife so interesting to see if any fifers do the links? I usually make the steak pie but going to my dads so he's bought a puddledub steak pie one of the best in my opinion . We'll have mash sprouts and gravy can't wait

scunner · 31/12/2019 18:13

Oh God, I’m so envious of you all having steak pie!
I was going to buy one in M&S but it’s just not the same as the ones I used to buy many years ago from Callaghan’s butchers in Helensburgh.

ginrummy1 · 31/12/2019 18:17

Puddledub one for us too. Far prefer New Years dinner to Christmas

IHaveBrilloHair · 31/12/2019 18:17

Oh that's my local butchers, I rented my first home from him!
Still a great butcher btw.
