Cheese and .....

I love cheese.

Recently I read of cheese being added to or put on top of a food and I thought ‘that’s bloody brilliant - why have I never done that?’ Holy Cheese Grail and all that.

Of course I forgot what it was 😢. Any bright cheesy ideas - this has been driving my crazy?

Fruit cake?

Anything. Cheese goes with anything

I love cheesey mashed potato, cheese melted over chips...

cream crackers, spread thickly with either laughing cow cheese or Philadelphia, and a couple of those mini pickled onions on top...they are moreish...I aim to eat one, end up eating four😂

I assume it was a combo that was surprising or unexpected? Maybe a vegetable? Asparagus or broccoli are gorgeous with cheese. Any of the brassicas actually, cheesy chard or kale gratin, cavolo nero with Parmesan...

On top of shepherds or cottage pie; fish pie; on top of baked beans (either on toast or baked potato)

Haddock? Like a rarebit on top?

More cheese.

Hot well toasted crumpet, thin layer of seedless jam, cheddar cheese.

I’m going to have to go out and buy crumpets now...

On sliced apples or pear

Are you thinking raclette where the cheese is melted in a flat pan and scraped onto your food? Mmm

Broccoli cheese is amazing.

I also like sardines in tomato sauce on toast with cheese.

Cheesey mash (cheese mixed through, and grated on top, then baked).

Definitely grate (!) on top of fish pie.

Cheese and marmite on toast?

I've recently been introduced to the concept of cheddar cheese on top of buttered scotch pancakes. You're welcome!

I actually thought ‘where has this been all my life??’. Grrrr

And it was a weird and wonderful combo - it was bloody obvious (like cheese on top of baked beans in a jacket potato) but not ‘the norm’. This has been driving me nuts all week (no, not cheese and peanut butter). I think it was on something warm.

Wasn’t weird and wonderful (so no cheese on chocolate digestives).

Chicory leaves with a creamy tie or blue cheese spread on.

Instant healthy starter, that you can nibble while getting the main course sorted. One of your 5 a day and goes lovely with a glass of red.

Not that it's unusual, but when we were on holiday in France last September I had baked Camembert, prosciutto, chips and a little salad with a vinaigrette that perfectly cut through the cheese. It was one of the best things I've ever eaten and I often think about it.
