Butterscotch Angel Delight!

I'm obviously having some sort of sentimental moment, and took an urge for it. I might even make it in a plastic jug á la my DMum circa 1988.

I bet it's not as nice as I remember

MusicToMyEars800 now I've thought about it I need one as well. Sending DH to shops.....

TesticleMeElmo - isn't it still full of sugar and additives? Surely it's not now made of natural and wholesome ingredients, otherwise it wouldn't taste of sweeteners and burnt plastic Grin ? Don't get me wrong- I'd happily eat it, sugar and additives included, if it actually tasted nice!

TesticleMeElmo · 07/02/2017 19:58

Eolian they make no added sugar ones as well - the one I have in the cupboard thankfully is the standard issue fat b&stard one Grin I love it! Although I was just tempted to add some extra packets to my online shop, and apparently it's supposed to serve FOUR Blush

I recently bought some packets of what I thought was Angel Delight from Poundland, only to discover it was Angel Delight ICE CREAM! Absolutely delicous. Worth checking out your local Poundland for this kind of crap yummy grub.

Mmmmm butterscotch Angel Delight. Takes me back...! I luuurve Charlotte Russe, home made, with double cream and juice from the canned peaches. My DCs and theirs love it too. Sponge fingers aren't what they used to be though, awkward little buggers.

Seeing the little ones' faces light up when I brought it in almost ceremonially, tied up with a ribbon, is a memory that lasts forever, big round eyes, big 'Oooooohhh'. Grin

Our taste buds change over time, and I expect the recipes are changed, I say dessert, coming from Sussex, my OH and his family from Sarf London have "pudding", unfortunately on a very strict, - I hate to use the word "diet", always sounds weight loss, this one is for serious gut problems, but will have to look that out later! My absolute fav is Eaton Mess.

Serenitymummy would like to thank you for your recipe for the unconventional but delightful trifle, it was bloody amazing!! I topped mine with crumbled up crunchie bar too, oh the calories of that bowl but it was well worth it, will make another one this weekend Grin

The best dessert is fruits for me!

AyUpMiDuck · 08/02/2017 21:42

One of my earliest food memories is eating strawberry Angel Delight at my friend's house. I was in heaven! At home we had the cheaper Instant Whip ( you'd get a pint of it from a packet v only half a pint of Angel Delight).

charliewolf · 08/02/2017 22:22

We used to have butterscotch Angel Delight with a sliced up Mars Bar mixed in.
Anyone remember a packet cheesecake mix, Greens?

fallenempires · 09/02/2017 00:14

What a fantastic thread! DP & I tried Angel Delight a few years ago & although it was nice it didn't give us the same wow factor as the butterscotch Instant Whip from when we were both littlies in the 1970's.Can't even think which brand produced Instant Whip must find out!Grin

TwinkleTwinkleLittleBat · 09/02/2017 08:11

Oh this is wonderful! I LOVED angel delight when I was small and also used to give to my dc too.

I thought there would be a collective tut about it on Mn but here you all are loving AD Grin

I do remember Instant Whip too, but Angel Delight was my favourite.
