Butterscotch Angel Delight!

I'm obviously having some sort of sentimental moment, and took an urge for it. I might even make it in a plastic jug á la my DMum circa 1988.

I bet it's not as nice as I remember

Well that was delicious. Ate it with gingernuts.

Does anyone remember the wonders of Hot Crunch Pudding? Sadly defunct now but I found a recipe online that calls for Birds custard mixed with Nestle banana milkshake powder and topped with crushed digestives that apparently tastes exactly the same.

MoonDuke · 05/02/2017 17:48

I've never had angel delight.,.

PUGaLUGS · 05/02/2017 17:50

I just knew you were going to say Angel Delight. Am so bloody jealous Envy

juggles6 you've put your lady bountiful post on the wrong thread...

namechange20050 · 05/02/2017 17:53

Butterscotch angel delight in a brandy snap basket. Very 80's!

Scribblegirl · 05/02/2017 17:54

This is outing (I so hope my friend doesn't recognise it!)

When my mate was growing up her mum would very occasionally make something called 'mum pudding' which was a real treat because it apparently took aaaages to make. When she was 25 her sister and her asked for some 'mum pudding' for old times' sake... her mum shamefacedly admitted that 'mum pudding' was actually angel delight and came out of a packet Grin They're still devastated!

ChuncaMunca · 05/02/2017 17:55

Can you still get Ice Magic, that chocolate sauce that hardens when it hits ice cream?

ItsyBitsyBikini · 05/02/2017 17:58

My sister sent me a pic of her bowl of strawberry angel delight the other day, my mum likes the butterscotch one. I haven't eaten it since I was about 10, but I regularly eat custard out of a jug or semolina in a jug with a dollop of jam on!

Badcat666 · 05/02/2017 18:10

Chunca Holy shit, yes you can!

Three Angel Delights for £1 at my Waitrose

Dessert v Pudding. Is it a class thing?

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/02/2017 18:27

Someone I know me has been known to make up two packets of dream topping and it all, that same friend me also squirts squirty cream into their mouths straight from the fridge, ugh, disgusting pig she isGrin

EnglishGirlApproximately · 05/02/2017 18:32

I'm mourning the loss of hot crunch pudding to this day, I bloody loved it. It was my specialty as a kid when I was in charge of pudding Smile

StillaChocoholic · 05/02/2017 18:38

I also have a friend like Brillos friend Grin

juggles6 · 05/02/2017 18:42

Oh, I'm so sorry, fairly new only my 3rd post! How do I go about moving it please?or feel free just to delete it

Deathraystare · 05/02/2017 18:52

Love the banana, caramel and butterscotch flavours. Infact mum used to give us both the banana and butterscotch ones. I still get one occasionally if I see a flavour I like . Not bloody Strawbetrry that is for sure.

RortyCrankle · 05/02/2017 18:59

This takes me back to my childhood but wouldn't eat now because it contains palm oil which puts it on my boycott list. Guess I won't be reliving my childhood Sad

BobbinThreadbare123 · 05/02/2017 19:00

Anyone here make it with soya milk? Does it work and taste the same?

AshesandDust · 05/02/2017 19:09

@IHaveBrilloHair Grin Grin

GherkinsOnToast · 05/02/2017 19:11

We use the Niutri Bullet to mix out butterscotch Angel Delight with a mint areo. I know DH's impulse buy would come in handy. Grin

ShowMePotatoSalad · 05/02/2017 19:13

I've never had Angel Delight. My tacky food nostalgia of choice is Pop Tarts. Grin

Cherrysoup · 05/02/2017 19:19

Butterscotch is the bigly best flavour, the bestest!

Mum's classic culinary efforts included tinned rice pudding with tinned pears and flake sprinkled over. Weirdly lovely.

Davinaaddict · 05/02/2017 19:32

I've discovered Butterscotch Angel Delight with Baileys thanks to this thread 😋 And it was bloody lovely! My kids don't like Angel Delight weirdos so we don't have it very often. I have to admit to being hugely overexcited when I realised they brought back the mint choc version last year. It was always my favourite growing up.

SpornStar · 05/02/2017 19:44

Gherkins, that's the first time I've heard of a Nutri Bullet being used to make something I'd actually want to eat Grin
