Butterscotch Angel Delight!

I'm obviously having some sort of sentimental moment, and took an urge for it. I might even make it in a plastic jug á la my DMum circa 1988.

I bet it's not as nice as I remember

Blimey, I'm going to have a go at making that Black Forest trifle. Sounds amazing. I might dust my NutriBullet off and have a go at angel delight. Can't stand it being lumpy.

And now creme eggs are back in stock I can make lovely creme egg ice cream milk shakes in the nutri bullet.

KitKat1985 · 06/02/2017 19:57

Easter egg as a bowl is GENIUS.

ShatnersBassoon · 06/02/2017 19:58

I stopped for Angel Delight and a Twix on the way home. I had it as a starter.

kaelea · 06/02/2017 19:59

I do Angel Delight surprise, Strawberry with mini marsh mallows mixed in or chocolate with chocolate chips, both very nommy

MurphyDog5 · 06/02/2017 20:30

Yes Bunmum birds hot chocolate crunch pudding was amazing. I craved it last year when I was pregnant with dd & searched high & low for it to no avail. Even tried to recreate it heating up a chocolate yogurty thing & crushing up biscuits but it just didn't cut it.

I love this thread. Such joy!
I'm diabetic, type 2. No Angel Delight for me. But I love reading about yours. Grin

AngelicCurls · 06/02/2017 20:45

So need something sweet now, only Lidl version of viscount biscuits in the cupboard Sad

Badcat666 · 06/02/2017 21:27

Just squirted tinned squirty cream right in my mouth. I may have to go back for a second squirt.

I did squirt some out onto a plate for the cats as well.

Summerlovin24 · 06/02/2017 22:14

Butterscotch angel delight. Oh my. Going to buy some.tomorrow and easter eggs to put it in. Genius.
Vienetta- mint choc chip obviously
When my mum was running out of supplies at home and we asked for pud she would do chopped bananas and hot custard. Always felt cheated with that as it didn't feel like a proper pudding.
Now I have kids I can see why. She had probably run out of food and ideas

NeverNic · 06/02/2017 23:30

I'm well known for my love of 80's food items. Don't think I've ever gone more than a month without a packet of Angel Delight in my cupboard, or cubed jelly, tinned peaches, birds custard powder, tinned rice pudding etc.

What I really miss though is the mint choc chip feast ice cream bars. Have they come back yet?

Mmm butterscotch angel delight drools I make it in little glass dishes with a layer of butterscotch at the bottom, let it set, and then top with chocolate Angel Delight Wink

Talking of puddings/desserts of the 80's, does anyone remember a similar packet mix as Angel Delight, which you made with water? There was a lemon one which was amazing, but I have never been able to find it, or even remember its name.

Uiscebeatha85 Only the very middle class say "dessert" the upper classes say pudding and shudder at dessert.

Solo · 07/02/2017 10:16

TesticleMeElmo · 07/02/2017 18:07

BUNMUM there was a lemon Birds hot crunch pudding that was nothing short of amazing! And ShamonMoFo I was literally thinking about that on Sunday - I was singing the song from the advert all afternoon Grin

iloveeverykindofcat · 07/02/2017 18:25

Yesssss Dream topping. Single greatest thing. You can keep the rest of Bird's trifle, I just want whatever Dream is.

Eolian · 07/02/2017 18:38

I don't remember ever having Angel Delight as a kid. I tried it once as an adult after people were raving about it on MN. Revolting stuff. Threw it away after one mouthful! Tastes of burnt plastic and artificial sweetener.

MollyHuaCha · 07/02/2017 18:47

That's because it's actually made of burnt plastic and artificial sweetener... Grin

TesticleMeElmo · 07/02/2017 18:57

Eolian back in the day angel delight was full of sugar and additives and was a fantastic treat! It's still almost as good, as long as you don't buy the no added sugar one by mistake Wink
