Can't believe I've never tried this before! It's lovely and doesn't taste dairy free (it's the creamy garlic and herb). What vegan foods do you all love Smile

*DILL! Not doll. No idea what that tastes like. Like vegan cheese probably Grin

(Plastic?)

FishlessCake · 10/02/2017 19:48

Ooh what tuck box is it, I've been meaning to sign up for one (ideally one full of junk Wink)

TheVegankind is a site where you can get box subscriptions each month or every three months. They have a lifestyle box (food) or a beauty box. The contents are a surprise and I think are really great value. You can also buy stuff on their website.

Booja Booja chocolate icecream! It's abit pricey, but the bed vegan ice cream I've ever had!

FishlessCake · 11/02/2017 06:51

I've never tried any shop bought vegan icecream. A shop in Newquay (Wales) sells soya icecream. Plus I like the tesco cones but have been meaning to try the booja booja icecream.

I ordered a gluten-free selection box from vegantuckbox.co.uk

Seems a nice mix of healthy snacks and more junky ones. I tried some spicy tomato seedy cracker things last night which were nice. Very cute that given its V-day the box has heart shaped Belgian chocolates and heart shaped shortbread biscuits this month 💕

I think I will subscribe for a few months, especially whilst I'm still new to being vegan having things that you can grab like this makes things easier

PhoenixJasmine · 11/02/2017 09:13

On the ice cream front, I made some chocolate (well cacao) coconut milk ice cream in my ice cream maker this week - very quick easy and yum, although you can taste the coconut. Am going to experiment with other "milk" bases.

FishlessCake · 11/02/2017 09:36

I've just looked at the vegan tuck box, I think I will sign up. I think I may be taking a trip up to Holland and Barrett later (I get very excited looking at the vegan food Blush). Going to get a 'beef' joint I think Grin

fishlesscake I don't like 'normal' creme caramels so I have no idea whether they are nice though!

FishlessCake · 11/02/2017 12:56

I've never tried a normal Creme caramel, but with me it's the same with most foods. I went vegetarian at 10 and the only meat we ate before then was fish or occasionally my nan would cook a chicken. So I've never tried proper sausages, burgers, bacon etc so no comparison.

Has anyone tried the quorn vegan fishless fingers? I'm hoping to find them in the big tesco.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 11/02/2017 14:05

I haven't tried them but I finally got a box from sainsburys, I have ordered a few times from Tesco and they keep being substituted for gluten free normal fish fingers (which we send back)

FishlessCake · 11/02/2017 14:21

Let us know what they are like, I have high hopes because the vegan quorn pieces taste 'fishy' Grin

TellMeItsNotTrue · 11/02/2017 14:34

The vegetarian ones a few years ago were nice, my meat/fish eating nephews preferred them to the real thing. I am hoping they are similar to those ones, but vegan now

LisaMumsnet · 11/02/2017 14:49

Just a heads-up that we've moved this to Food at the OP's request.

PhoenixJasmine · 12/02/2017 09:33

Good move Grin

Enjoying my tuck box! Yesterday I had some "Banana Joes" crisps - made of banana - BBQ flavour. Yummy and did not taste of banana. Which is good as despite really trying with smoothies and nice cream I still don't like banana unless it's really well hidden!

My nut milk bag arrived from amazon, so I'm looking forward to playing around with some homemade plant milks.

Does anyone mind if we talk about vegan recipes/homemade stuff in general as well as bought products on the thread?

FishlessCake · 12/02/2017 09:42

Definitely talk about anything vegan Smile. I'm lookin. Forward to hearin about the nut milk, please post pictures.
Are you all making pancakes at the end of the month?

We hadn't the fishless fingers for tea last night and thought they were really good

FishlessCake · 12/02/2017 10:09

I'm hoping to get some on Tuesday, will make a parsley sauce to have them with Smile

Sweetcorn fritters are lovely and so cheap to make. I'm shocked how well they cooked!

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/02/2017 16:00

BTW,dd2 veggie, not vegan, was peering over my shoulder as I making appreciative noises and agrees we ""should get recipe and eat soon, nom nom"". Consider that she's very impressedGrin

FishlessCake · 12/02/2017 16:47

I had them with watercress and salsa they were really tasty. I'm going to rustle up some brownies in a bit, with some lotus spread stirred through Smile

OP posts:
FishlessCake · 12/02/2017 17:31

The brownies are in, I tweaked the recipe which is on bbc good food, I put 40g Cocoa instead of 2 spoons, also I did half sugar/golden syrup and stirred through chopped up chocolate and lotus spread.

FishlessCake · 12/02/2017 18:00

This is the brownie hot out of the oven (yes it looks a mangled mess but not so much so in rl) shall let it cool then post a photo of it cut
