Can't believe I've never tried this before! It's lovely and doesn't taste dairy free (it's the creamy garlic and herb). What vegan foods do you all love Smile

Oh and for milk - in tea and coffee soya milk but hot chocolate is coconut or almond all the way!
Linda McCartney sausage rolls are a good vegan junk food option too - cold on a buffet works for parties.
I have also found that morrisons make your own pizza counter are more than happy to make a cheese less pizza for you - my local give me two extra veg toppings instead.

I mostly cook from scratch smug arse but those are good quick easy options!

We like hazelnut milk best for hot drinks, you can use it just like dairy milk, and it doesn't split. Tastes great too.

Swedish Glacé ice cream, the chocolate is my favourite.
Linda McCartney nut roasts. Actually most LM stuff.
Fry's 'chicken' nuggets.
Quorn spicy burgers.
Alpro chocolate pudding and milk.
VioLife creamy cheese.

Agree with adding Engavita to everything.

Twenty try adding dollops of the VioLife Crwy to your pizza, it's fab.

All JusRoll products are accidentally vegan, even the pain au chocolat. Bliss.

Creamy ffs.

I'll give that a go if I can find any :) I normally use a lot of pesto in a homemade pizza, it's a pain trying to keep them from being dry isn't it?

It's good stuff, melts well, sadly doesn't go stringy, but it works well on pizza. Also makes a fab sandwich with mango chutney, and is only 48 calories a serving.

Coconut Collaborative little chocolate pots -utterly delicious. Now you've made me get up and get one from the fridge! DD2 loves Alpro Go On yogurts - finds them creamy & filling; also avocado on sourdough toast with salt & chilli flakes. We like coconut milk for hot chocolate but otherwise mostly Alpro soya, which seems to behave itself. Tried making custard with rice milk and had to chuck it - too thin to work.

Doesn't eating all these processed "alternatives" actually go against the fundamental principles of being vegan?

Report
FishlessCake · 29/01/2017 14:57

58 my principle is not eating an animal or a product from an animal.

No.

No, because we eat them sparingly as treats, and I cook from scratch for 90% of our meals. It's still good to have something quick and easy to grab, particularly when I'm not feeling good. My DD is chronically unwell, and finds cooking difficult a lot of days.

I agree. Rice milk is a lovely drink on its own, but it is too thin to do anything with.

Cashew milk is very thick, but someone on mumsnet told me that birds custard powder is suitable, plus alpro custard is cheap and nice Smile

I like Alpro almond milk best. You can use that with Birds custard powder to make really good custard.
I like the Almond with chocolate warm as hot chocolate too.

It seems that there isn't one milk that is good for everything, unlike dairy milk.

The only thing dairy milk is good for is the baby animal Wink

Tesco do a pack of mini vegan sausage rolls, I found out about them on here, they are nice

There are plenty of chocolate alternatives out there, which isn't good news for the waistline Wink

I like the vbites range, the bacon and meatballs especially

FishlessCake · 29/01/2017 18:52

The vbites bean pate is lovely. My favourite chocolate is the lidl sea salt (someone on here told me about it).
