Has anyone seen The Odyssey film yet and what did you think

Anyone booked or been to see The Odyssey. I’m booked for Sunday. I don’t really care about the casting, as it’s a myth.
So I’m looking forward to it!

Booked for Thursday screening of 70mm in IMAX

Saw it this afternoon. Brilliant!!

What is 70 mm IMAX mean? Is it like ultra ultra HD . Off to have a google

I have just googled 70mm sounds amazing! We haven’t got anywhere near showing. So Odeon it is for me! I haven’t even booked the ISense.

I’m going tomorrow, can’t wait.

Absolutely superb. Oscars all round. Only duff note Synod - unconvincing and a strange choice of actor. Everyone and everything else was so utterly compelling.

Thought it was great though cringed slightly at use of ‘Mom’ and ‘Dad’ and ‘stuff’. Robert Pattinson was the standout performance for me.

Sinon! Yes. Blooming auto carrot. This time it tried Simian and Simon.

I thought Samantha Morton was amazing too - loved the way they did the transformation of the men. And the huge battle scenes were utterly compelling, harrowing and very emotional.

I saw it today. I really enjoyed it. Some of the dialogue was a tad jarring. Thought the casting was good. Matt Damon was completely convincing. Robert Pattinson did a great job I thought.

Went with DS1 who doesn't know the myths so alot of it confused him. But he's bought the book on the strength of it and started it after we got home.

I'm a massive Nolanophile and have been waiting for this day all year. It was SUPERB. He really understands narrative and the love he has for cinema as a medium is so clear in every shot. I loved it, and especially loved the powerful women - I'm hungry for more of those in his future films. Argos was standout for me!!

Seeing it on Sunday and I cannot wait!

I saw it tonight and I really enjoyed it. There was a lot to think about. I’m a bit sad about Athena though. There was none of the feisty, flashing eyed Athene. She was just quietly sorrowful. I’m not sure yet if I think it was fair enough to sacrifice her to make a certain narrative point when she’s such a fab character.

Is it suitable for a 14 year old? Thinking of taking my son as he’s got an interest in Greek myth but don’t know if it’s too violent and/or spicy

It's a 15 certificate @jossbee , so unless the fourteen year old turns fifteen before the cinema run ends (which if Obsession is anything to go by could definitely happen 😀) then no.

I won't be going, but I had to sit through the special six minute preview of it twice at the IMAX a few months back when I was in to watch something else because they wouldn't let us out, and that was plenty.

I thought my DD who loves Greek and Roman mythology. Even as twenty something she still loves Percy Jackson. And explains things very slowly to me, cheeky sod.
Just because I get the Greek and Roman gods mixed up sometimes!
But she is going to wait for it to come to steaming!

I loved it. It was an epic scale but compared to a lot of “swords and sandals” blockbusters I felt it had a level of restraint that actually made it feel so much more realistic and human even with the witchcraft and gods and monsters.

The sound design was insane; I have to be honest and say my nervous system was a bit shot throughout!

I went last night and loved it. Thought the casting was great - only thing that took me about of it a little bit was when Telemachus (Tom Holland) kept referring to his parents as 'mom and dad'. Tiny thing though and thought it was brilliant, proper blockbuster. Sort of reminds of old films like Ben Hur and Jason and the Argonauts (in a good way). The Trojan Horse scene is amazing.

I enjoyed it, it was a bit too long, the end sections really good and the acting was stand out. I imagine it will win many awards. I did find the Mom and Dad thing quite out of place and jarring.

I went to see this earlier today, it was brilliant.

Off to see it next week only worry is hearing that Helen doesnt seem to have much agency in this - cowing to her husband rather than the headstrong Helen
