New Top Gun is finally out next month, so long overdue, I'm hoping it won't disappoint! 🤞

Rewatched the first one the other day and I was blown away by how small and cheesy TC is!

i watched the original last week and found it quite surprising.

it compared to modern films very favourably IMO. Not as toxic masculinity as so many action films are now. I really hope the new one isn’t chest beating woman shagging tough bloke crap we seem to get now.

Original was on tv the other night. Watched it and recorded it. Happy days.

Is wee Tom flying in it? Seems really bloody unlikely at 59. He'd be pensioned off surely?

I'm torn between wanting to see it and being worried that a big memory from the best year of my life will crash and burn <ahem>

So looking forward to this film and I’m going to put my thoughts on TC firmly out of my mind. I remember going to see the original in the cinema when it first came out, really hope this one doesn’t disappoint.

He's not even my favourite, but he does all his own stunts, is currently filming a new mission impossible film.

What I mean is not Tom himself, he is fit. But the average fighter pilot is not 59, that's retirement age at the absolute outside.

Tom Cruise has been filming Mission Impossible earlier this year near where my friend lives, he went to the chippy in the village for his lunch.

And I'm so pleased that the love interest (Jennifer Connelly) is age appropriate

It's more the other people that put me off cinemas.

The trailer suggests that this is integral to the plot; he should have retired or been promoted long ago but is holding out as long as he can as a pilot.

Late showing on a Sunday is never busy.

Excited! Booked in for next week and as I live near an air force base, the cinema will be packed with air force personnel, particularly fighter pilots! 🤣

I first saw Top Gun abroad in Germany when staying with some RAF friends - the cinema was full of air crew then!

It has very good reviews, so hopefully it will live up to the hype.

Top Gun is iconic. Even the music gives me goosebumps

There was an extended version of the top gun theme used on coverage of the Tour De France one year in the ‘80s. I wish I could find it again.

Well, that was everything I could have hoped for. I don’t think anyone could have made a better sequel than that. Seeing it at the IMAX was great, and I’m going to book in to see it again.

It's got John Hamm! Bloody love John Hamm, I'd watch it for him alone.
