I suppose it is one of those things where you know what you are going to get but from the trailers it looks a bit like Agatha Christie "The Blue Train" I suspect I will go.

Me! I think it looks great.

NotCrossBun · 19/04/2022 21:01

Well I was such a fan of the series but the 1st film was absolute bilge so I think I'll be giving this one a swerve - unless I hear rave reviews...

thistimelastweek · 19/04/2022 21:05

Looks like a 'Christmas Special '.
They always involve a holiday destination and they're always shite.

drinkingwineoutofamug · 19/04/2022 21:21

My tickets are booked. I will report back

Badger1970 · 19/04/2022 21:24

No, loved the series but the film version gave me a cavity it was so sickly sweet.

I don't think I can afford the dentist bill for another Grin

Hugasauras · 19/04/2022 21:25

Going to see it on Sat!

Hugasauras · 19/04/2022 21:25

Sorry, a week on Sat. Losing track of time ...

EmmaH2022 · 19/04/2022 21:32

Thanks OP, I didn't know about this.

And I thought Maggie Smith had retired. So nice to see her!

lollipoprainbow · 19/04/2022 21:37

Yes I think so, on my own though, last time my friend galloped out before I had chance to see the end credits !!

TheMadGardener · 19/04/2022 22:09

I thought the first film was pretty lame but I expect I will go and see this one.

But they'd better not do anything to mess up Edith and Bertie's happy ending!
Last time it seemed like they were about to kill off the Dowager but she looks quite sprightly in the trailer.

ChorleyFMcominginyourears · 19/04/2022 22:36

I'm going with a friend, she's only recently got into it and watched them all so when she suggested it we figured we'd make a day of it and go get some lunch etc first, looking forward to it

KatherineofGaunt · 19/04/2022 22:41

Yes, I am! Going to treat myself, so my parents are picking the toddler up from nursery, I've got an afternoon showing at my favourite independent cinema, with a cheese platter and soft drink already booked to enjoy from my comfy chair!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/04/2022 22:41

Yes, a friend and I are going. Looks like absolute hokum from the trailer, but that's fine by us!

Wagsandclaws · 19/04/2022 22:47

Urghh they are going to kill off Maggie Smith in this one aren't they?

I'm a big Downton fan but I have a feeling that this is all about her having her own special story about when she was young etc and I don't think I want to see her die a lovely death ( and I think she will in this one).

Isn't she meant to be about 120 now if we follow her age from the first series?

I do really want to go and see it but I have my suspicions that I will be v sad when I come out of the cinema so I think I will wait for someone to spoil it for me first.

Toddlerteaplease · 21/04/2022 05:43

Why are they all looking very sun tabbed before they even get to France. And didn't they forget that the dowager us terminally I'll?

pav2 · 21/04/2022 10:16

I won't, but @theultimatebob might, right?

purplecorkheart · 21/04/2022 10:23

I have a few hours to kill on the next Bank Holiday Monday near a cinema. Will go and see it then if it is still being shown.

AlexaShutUp · 21/04/2022 10:25

I love Downton! Will definitely be going!Smile

EasterDecorations · 21/04/2022 10:49

Definitely! I know the last film was just a massive piss-take but still enjoyed it, the sets, the costumes, Violet's sharp tongue.

balalake · 26/04/2022 18:26

My mum will, but I give it a wide berth. Love the costumes and the scenery, hate the script.

BasiliskStare · 28/04/2022 22:48

I'm booked in for tomorrow with DD & it will be hokum I am sure , but the sort of hokum I like Grin

I'm going tonight. Hoping for gorgeous costumes and scenery even if the story is pants.

PlinkPlankPlunk · 29/04/2022 15:23

I m ready for a bit more Downton rubbish! I really enjoyed the later series; first film wasn’t that great but I’ve still watched it a few times Grin

dolphinsarentcommon · 29/04/2022 15:28

I don't care if it's so sickly sweet it actually makes me sick.. I'm going!

Haven't been to the cinema since before Covid and I love Downton.

Can't wait!!

Gaspingandleaping · 29/04/2022 15:31

I'll be going with my 12yo son. We love it!
