The worst movie you have ever seen in the Cinema

What is the worst film / most crappiest experience you've ever had in a cinema ?

I'll start. I remember watching the zodiac. I was immature and didn't really understand it-- but it was the most boring film I've ever seen in the cinema.

A few years later I watched Never Let me go. The atmosphere at the end was highly depressive

Alexander with Colin Farrell. So many long boring monologues. It’s the only time I’ve been in a cinema and actually heard the audience collectively groan when they thought it had ended but the talking continued.

Only the Lonely
Zoolander
We left before the end of both. They were just awful!

Puffinhead · 07/01/2022 19:44

@Bluebluemoon

Fifty shades of grey - I was cringing so bad.

Early man (by the Wallace and gromit creators) is another one that comes to mind - I was huffing and puffing and couldn't wait for it to end - it felt torturous. the kids thought it was rubbish too.

Early Man - That was the one I slept through. It was ok to start but then went on about football, which I loathe!
heidbuttsupper · 07/01/2022 19:45

Crazy Rich Asians

whiteroseredrose · 07/01/2022 19:52

The Elephant Man. Grim

NothingIsWrong · 07/01/2022 19:52

Eyes Wide Shut. It's about 87 hours long, and I went to the 9pm showing on a second date.

Dumped the chap and the film what felt like 23 hours in (prob about 40 min in real life). Not sure if he stayed to the end as I just said that I didn't think we were suited and the film was terrible and I was going home and walked out.

GuiltyPleasure · 07/01/2022 19:54

The Blair Witch Project...Just dull and not remotely scary

Onesnowynight · 07/01/2022 19:55

Hereditary. What a load of poo. I love a good horror so can only assume others were watching a different movie to me.

TheGoldenWolfFleece · 07/01/2022 19:56

The curious case of Benjamin button. And i love Cate Blanchett, what the hell was she thinking?!

I wanted to walk out after 10 minutes but my friend was enraptured so i had to stay for the entire 15 hours. Or that's what it felt like anyway.

BachAndByte · 07/01/2022 19:56

I was going to say Eyes Wide Shut as well @NothingIsWrong

Never did work out what it was about (if indeed it had an actual plot)

Frazzled2207 · 07/01/2022 19:58

@Friolero

I hated La La Land.
Oh I LOVED it
Frazzled2207 · 07/01/2022 19:59

Meet Joe Black. And also the Curious Case or Benjamin Button.
Never did I think it would be possible for two Brad Pitt films to be so unbelievably awful.

Changingtheweather · 07/01/2022 20:00

Dead Ringers with Jeremy Irons
Misogynistic identical twin gynaecologists, drug fuelled murder, “mutant”reproductive system opening instruments...
Only film I’ve ever walked out of.

Apparently it’s one of the Top Ten Canadian films

Frazzled2207 · 07/01/2022 20:00

@Indiana2021

Never Let Me Go. I felt exhausted by the end.
It’s a very sad story and quite difficult to watch but I could never say it’s a bad film.
AshGirl · 07/01/2022 20:02

Cloverfield. Fucking terrible film.

Van Helsing was also absolute shite.

KurtWilde · 07/01/2022 20:02

Cloverfield was awful, set off my vertigo and I had to leave.

Punch Drunk Love. Just no. Left about 3/4 of the way through.

Bluebluemoon · 07/01/2022 20:03

I'm laughing my head off at this thread - I agree with so many of these.

BUT - Bee Movie??? NO! That is my dc's absolute favourite film ever and they must've watched it 1000 times. I've never actually sat through it in entirety but it kept them entertained when they were younger and now they're teens they still often watch it and have private jokes relating to it!

NothingIsWrong · 07/01/2022 20:04

After 40 min there was no discernible point to ANYTHING. Possibly even living any more. It was pure unadulterated shite
HunterHearstHelmsley · 07/01/2022 20:04

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was appalling with no redeeming features. I wanted my money back!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/01/2022 20:05

Hop. I never thought it would end

My DC loved it , saw it at the cinema and I bought the DVD , it was our Easter tradition to watch it Grin

My offering:

Hugo
The previews made it look far more interesting . It was utter tedium. Huge gaps between dialogue and a lot of high end actors who must've thought WTF !

DD and I went to the loo halfway through and were so tempted not to go back in ( but DH and DS would've noticed ).

Agreed. Bee Movie is brilliant. I watched it by accident and was transfixed.
Hastina · 07/01/2022 20:06

Cabaret. Worse than Alvin and the Chipmunks The Squeaquel.

suckingonchillidogs · 07/01/2022 20:07

Agree with The English Patient and Hereditary. The last 20 mins of Hereditary we were just pissing ourselves laughing it was that bad. The English Patient just went on and on and on - just die already.

Lilyargin · 07/01/2022 20:07

Mama Mia. Walked out.

ISeeTheLight · 07/01/2022 20:07

I'm so glad PP mentioned Vanilla Sky. That was the film I thought of immediate when I read the thread title. What a pile of shite. Sat through it thinking "it must get better soon, surely." It did not get better.

Also watched one of the Final Destination ones with some school friends (it was not my choice), not my thing but at least it was so bad it was funny.
