DH and I just finished watching 'Downsizing' starring Matt Damon and we're baffled.

Legit looked at each other at the end of the movie like wtf was that🤣🤣
The downsizing concept (shrinking people) sounded interesting and had so much potential at the start but then the movie suddenly turns into what feels like a completely different plot about global warming and saving the planet.
What a waste of a good cast too - Kristen Wiig, Christoph Waltz etc

It's not even bad in a funny way, it's just bad. I was expecting a comedy 😑
It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
Hated it so much I started a thread lmao 😂

What's the worst movie you've ever seen?

OP posts:

Step brothers, the entire time couldn't figure out if they were taking the piss out of adults with learning disabilities.

WithANameLikeDaniCalifornia · 11/06/2021 21:35

Nobody seen “The Room” then?

Kiki275 · 11/06/2021 21:36

Yes to Downsizing, it was dire!
Also totally agree with Waiting and Revenant.
Also want to throw in Woman in Black with Daniel Ratcliffe... so disappointing!
Also Pirates of the Caribbean 3, nowhere near as light & humorous as the first 2... don't get me started on 4 x

@Nohomemadecandles

Birdman That Tom Hardy one - in the car talking about concrete - Locke
I bought that on DVD on the premise that it had Tom Hardy in it.......then watched it....DH thought I was insane

I loved that!
ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/06/2021 21:37

War Horse
another disappointment after the hype

WithANameLikeDaniCalifornia · 11/06/2021 21:38

“Pink Flamingos” is about people eating literal shit. Give your head a wobble if you think that’s entertaining.

ErykahBaddy · 11/06/2021 21:38

Locke was rubbish but not "worst film ever" material IMO. Same with Birdman.

La La Land and Roma were crap too. Basically, if a film gets lauded by the Oscars, I avoid it now.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/06/2021 21:39

@Smokeahontas

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

Absolute toilet.

@Smokeahontas.

the plot couldn't tell its arse from its elbow

Plinkplonk1234 · 11/06/2021 21:41

That the one I was trying to think of! Grin

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/06/2021 21:42

Taken.

2 good "twist", I saw one of them coming.
but otherwise utter disappointment given the hype

Doje · 11/06/2021 21:42

@JesusInTheCabbageVan

Loved Interstellar!

Into the Wild. It's critically acclaimed, but DH and I both found the main character whiny and tedious.

Came on to say this one too!

My brother LOVED it and as you say it's critically acclaimed. But my God... it is sooo duuuull!!! Boring and whiney and depressing.

CaptainBarbossa · 11/06/2021 21:43

I quite liked downsizing Blush

Couldn't watch Ted or Hop.

I also find anything with Russel Brand in it terrible. He makes me skin crawl and always has.

itsevolutionbaby · 11/06/2021 21:43

@TheMotherlode

Clearly none of you have watched Sharknado
This is the correct answer

thanks.

started watching La la land. had to stop after 5 mins, but wondered if I should try again to see what the hype was about.
I won't bother

tsmainsqueeze · 11/06/2021 21:44

Sleepless in Seattle , unbearable mush .

gollymissdolly · 11/06/2021 21:49

Vanilla sky
The Blair witch project

TeamNegan · 11/06/2021 21:54

Oh the other one is It Follows. Utter tripe. So confused how this is often trotted out as one of the scariest movies when it’s really just someone walking 😂

QuentinBunbury · 11/06/2021 22:02

Oh I LOVE lala land Blush

That is one film that scared the shit out ofme!
mogtheexcellent · 11/06/2021 22:09

House Shark on Prime.. so bad!

Stressybetty · 11/06/2021 22:10

Really really Hated lala land and Circle with Emma Watson.

Winona Ryder film Autumn in New York with Richard Gere was dreadful, completely miscast unbelievable couple.

Water for Elephants, (obviously the Twilight films are in a very different league of bad but good) but Robert Pattinson smirking his way through this, just no.

I do like Nicolas Hoult, Equals was a touching film, Kristen Stewart can be annoying but ok in some stuff.

Nic Cage agree with most comments but he was perfect in Moonstruck and city of Angels.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 11/06/2021 22:12

The emoji movie.

Thecazelets · 11/06/2021 22:20

Match Point (Woody Allen). Laughably bad. So completely wrong about London that it had me wondering whether everything I thought I knew about NY from Annie Hall etc was just as misguided. I'm afraid I didn't manage to see it through to the end.

Shutupyoutart · 11/06/2021 22:24

Forget the name of it as it was so terrible it was all about trees and the trees were evil/killing people or something weird like that,I remember thinking wtf. The forgotten was so weird and random also.
