Worst movie you've ever seen

DH and I just finished watching 'Downsizing' starring Matt Damon and we're baffled.

Legit looked at each other at the end of the movie like wtf was that🤣🤣
The downsizing concept (shrinking people) sounded interesting and had so much potential at the start but then the movie suddenly turns into what feels like a completely different plot about global warming and saving the planet.
What a waste of a good cast too - Kristen Wiig, Christoph Waltz etc

It's not even bad in a funny way, it's just bad. I was expecting a comedy 😑
It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
Hated it so much I started a thread lmao 😂

What's the worst movie you've ever seen?

Dh says Graveyard Disturbance.

Bawdrip · 15/06/2021 17:11

@wheresmyhairytoe

Perfect Storm, utter shit and they all die in the end.

Gravity

Yes gravity! Patronising sexist drivel
OasthouseAlan · 16/06/2021 07:04

The Lake House with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock was so crap, something about a magic time travelling post box if I remember rightly! It was that weird time in the 2000s when it was cheaper to buy a DVD than rent from Blockbusters so unfortunately it sat on my shelf for many years before getting rid of it

girlsallowed21 · 16/06/2021 16:53
@EuphorbiaPlant - Birdbox? I thought that was a great movie!
I loved Birdbox too! 😆

Maybe Baby written by Ben Elton. Starring Hugh Laurie and Joely Richardson.

girlsallowed21 · 16/06/2021 17:00

Just remembered another one called The Platform on Netflix.
It's about a vertical prison where there's two people per cell and food gets served on this lift platform that goes through each cell and only lasts seconds in each one. The people at the top of the platform obviously get the best food.
Great satire.
Not exactly the worst movie I've seen but there was A LOT of gore and it was very barbaric throughout. The ending felt so disappointing...

I love this film, I'd agree with any other Keanu film, but I like Sandra Bullock

Lost in Translation - racist and sexist and just crap about 2 utterly unlikeable people. The only film I've walked out of about halfway through.

Marley and Me- went on forfuckingever, It was okay (no more than that) until the dog got ill and I felt a bit tearful when it first became clear he wouldn't make it, but, fuck, what felt like hours later it was STILL going on with maudlin comments and big sighs about how he hadn't eaten etc etc. I speak as a pet owner who has shed many a tear when my own have died, but this was manipulative shit.

I'm shocked at some of the films listed here. The Perfect Storm is an average film, yes, but to say it's a pile of rubbish and complain that everyone dies at the end is a bit off when it's based on a true story imo!

Cabin In The Woods - and I couldn't walk out because the cinema was packed and I was right in the middle.

The Core - there was a problem with the sound and then the projector midway through it causing both to stutter and then stop all together, and this got a round of applause.

Blair Witch - unmitigated shite, walked out

La La Land - should have walked out but somebody else had bought the tickets. Afterwards it turned out they felt the same way.

About a Boy - painful, but I can't stand Hugh Grant and shouldn't have got talked into it. Walked out after twenty minutes of cringing until Ialmost turned inside out

Recent one: Spiral - Chris Rock looking baffled and the most risible dialogue I've heard in years. I stayed until the end out of morbid curiosity to see if it could get worse, and it didn't disappoint.

I loved Cruella, Parasite, Cloverfield and Wolf Of Wall Street :)

FlowerPower3110 · 24/06/2021 05:47

Red Sparrow - must be one of the worst movies ever made. It's rated 15 but please do NOT watch this with your kids. There are waaaay too many explicit scenes.

I'm a bit surprised by all the people mentioning Mamma Mia, it's one of my favourite feel-good movies ever made Grin

tzarine · 29/06/2021 01:13

either lalaland (walked out of free screening) or showgirls or tommy wiseau's the room

Needhelp101 · 30/06/2021 13:06

Girls Trip. My friend and I thought it would be a fun, female-led comedy. By the time Jada Pinkett Smith pisses all over the people below her in the street, we looked at each other in silent agreement and rose to leave.

Aquaman. Not even Momoa could save it!

Also probably Willy's Wonderland with Nicolas Cage (who doesn't speak ONE line of dialogue through the entire film despite being the lead character Hmm) but it does fall into the 'so bad it's good' category like most Cage films

loathed lost in translation treated japan like a joke the leads were were the worst type of clueless american tourist the only reason i watched it was bc i had to review it
AuntMasha · 03/07/2021 16:14

‘Maybe Baby’ made me want to poke my eyes out with a rusty screwdriver.

ButYouGottaHaveASkillJeff · 03/07/2021 16:18

After rewatching the series (just to remind myself what an awful person Carrie Bradshaw is) I rewatched the movie. Goes without saying Sex and the City 2 is horrific, but the first one hasn't aged well at all.

Carrie is still a shit person (blaming Miranda for ruining her marriage and welcoming Big back with open arms, like that would happen), Charlotte wouldn't eat/drink anything because she's in 'Mexico' - WTF?! And Samantha gets fat shamed for having a non existent gut.

Don't know why I did it to myself.

Abracadabra12345 · 03/07/2021 16:21

@UsernameFail

The Revenant.

Hours of my life I'll never get back

I thought Revenant was excellent.

My dd and I also loved Shape of Water and I’ve seen Gravity twice because I wanted to 😁

Hen2018 · 05/07/2021 20:22

Meet the Spartans

It was like having a cheese dream.

Hen2018 · 05/07/2021 20:35

And LaLa Land. 2 boring people who couldn’t get their acts together. A stupid, constant, twirtly leit motif.

The lady next to me in the cinema was crying at the end. Felt like crying myself. Boring.

i walked out of lalaland & i had free tix

went home & watched singin in the rain

Enough4me · 08/07/2021 00:26

Nicholas Cage is dire in 'Hell Rider'. Even my 11 year old DS wasn't impressed.

I saw Gravity in 3D and the effects were amazing (I can see without it that would have been slow). I loved Interstellar and have watched that several times since.

evtheria · 08/07/2021 00:38

I can’t believe The Green Lantern (Ryan Reynolds) hasn’t been mentioned yet. Actually wanted to leave the cinema because we could not stop laughing at how awful it was.

I could be completely wrong, though - seeing as a few movies I enjoyed or love have been mentioned multiple times on here! Grin

TitilatedOcelot · 08/07/2021 09:27

Highlander 2

Even the director thought it was awful.

I also hated The Revenant and I usually like Leo films.

Can't stand Kill Bill, way too long. One film would have done.

coffeepleeease · 13/07/2021 01:06

Into The Woods!

JumpLeadsForTwo · 13/07/2021 06:10

I loved Into the woods, but then I do love musicals!
