DH and I just finished watching 'Downsizing' starring Matt Damon and we're baffled.

Legit looked at each other at the end of the movie like wtf was that🤣🤣
The downsizing concept (shrinking people) sounded interesting and had so much potential at the start but then the movie suddenly turns into what feels like a completely different plot about global warming and saving the planet.
What a waste of a good cast too - Kristen Wiig, Christoph Waltz etc

It's not even bad in a funny way, it's just bad. I was expecting a comedy 😑
It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
Hated it so much I started a thread lmao 😂

What's the worst movie you've ever seen?

OP posts:

Get Him to the Greek.
Super Bad.
Knocked Up.

Someone and Miri Make a Porno.

All vile.

Love Actually.

Locke (I see has been mentioned)

Watched one of Netflix called 'the long grass'. Bloody hell. It made zero sense. Me and dp were just Hmm the whole way. Ridiculous film.

StrongerThanA90sTrend · 11/06/2021 22:34

Oh, also Face/Off. I won't even entertain the idea of watching it properly. The whole concept is ridiculous. You mean to tell me John Travolta's wife wouldn't notice her husbands entire body is completely different?! So. Fucking. Stupid. Grin

BoogieFeet · 11/06/2021 22:37

I’m thinking of ending things

I’ve seen my share of naff/bad films but I’m still angry that I concentrated for over 2 hours in the hope it would be worth it at the end..it wasn’t.

pinkcattydude · 11/06/2021 22:39

@Orangepink75

Boxing Helena
Omg literally how you are told not to end a story
JudyGemstone · 11/06/2021 22:41

The clear answer to this is SATC2. It’s just so offensively awful in every way.
Whoever wrote that script hates women.

Mark Kermode’s ranty review of it is funny!

Clusterfckintolerant · 11/06/2021 22:41

Aquaman. It's now a comparator measure for any movie we discuss now.

not surprised. the trailer should've been called trailer trash. couldn't be less interested in it, thanks for confirming gut feeling

🤣 exactly! unless they also had a cock swap
giantwaterbottle · 11/06/2021 22:49

Perfume. Just, so so bad

Our reading group said that about the book version too.

OMG that was so crap!
pinkcattydude · 11/06/2021 22:52

Just remembered there is Van Helsing too
Absolute tosh

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 11/06/2021 22:54

The two I have disliked most are probably Bridesmaids (I only watched ten minutes). Also Oblivion with Tom Cruise. I watched it all but had a migraine by the time it finished trying to work out what was going on.

allofthecheese · 11/06/2021 22:56

I'm back to include the prestige on here. I found it sooo dull. Oh and I'll also add Forrest Gump on this too Blush it's a classic I know, but really wasn't into it.

FourTurnings · 11/06/2021 22:56

Downsizing was ridiculous, OP, couldn’t agree more.

Falling Down

more like falling into a coma

cheeseislife8 · 11/06/2021 23:01

Sunshine. They tried to REBOOT the SUN. Ffs

WithANameLikeDaniCalifornia · 11/06/2021 23:01

Witches of Eastwick - it was on the BBC about six months ago and I couldn't believe how awful it was, just true shite

Jack Nicholson writhing around and dry-humping the bed is an image permanently burned onto my retinas. Wtf

@Shutupyoutart is it “The Happening” you’re thinking about? That was about vengeful trees.

@TeamNegan “It follows” was rubbish. It was supposed to be a metaphor for STDs. You get rid of it in the film by passing it on Hmm
I promise I’m not an expert on stds but I’m sure that’s not how they work.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/06/2021 23:03

Benjamin Button

the old man should've been born old man-sized. not baby-sized. it was just not realistic 🤣

Noseyaf · 11/06/2021 23:05

Skins. It's one of those disturbing yet you keep watching in hopes it gets better type of movies

BrownEyedGirl80 · 11/06/2021 23:09

Coneheads

Kollywobble · 11/06/2021 23:10

For me it has to be Lost in Translation, Downsizing, The Boss, 50 First Dates, and Signs.

peachescariad · 11/06/2021 23:11

Kidadulthood...absolute shocker and what made it worse is that it's true life. Rated 15. The misogyny and sexism was sickening. I would of never let my kids aged 15 watch that.
