DH and I just finished watching 'Downsizing' starring Matt Damon and we're baffled.

Legit looked at each other at the end of the movie like wtf was that🤣🤣
The downsizing concept (shrinking people) sounded interesting and had so much potential at the start but then the movie suddenly turns into what feels like a completely different plot about global warming and saving the planet.
What a waste of a good cast too - Kristen Wiig, Christoph Waltz etc

It's not even bad in a funny way, it's just bad. I was expecting a comedy 😑
It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
Hated it so much I started a thread lmao 😂

What's the worst movie you've ever seen?

Remember there's a big difference between not liking a film personally and it being a bad film. Some of the ones being mentioned on here are phenomenal films with excellent award winning cast and crew. As an example, I'm no fan of Star Wars movies or much from the sci fi genre but I wouldn't say they were bad films.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 11/06/2021 20:34

I love The Wickerman, Thor Ragnarok and Vanilla Sky!

The mark of a terrible film for me is if I don’t get more than 10 minutes in. So, Ted and Hostel.

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 11/06/2021 20:36

I will never watch Cats.

Figgygal · 11/06/2021 20:36

East is east - marketed as a comedy reality was a drama filled with domestic violence

Disney’s dinosaur - trauma inducing

Hotel Transylvania 3 and trolls world tour are joint worst kids films

hitchin89 · 11/06/2021 20:39

Leprechaun In the Hood

It was fucking terrible...

BroccoliRob · 11/06/2021 20:40

@GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou

I will never watch Cats.
I'm with you there
Trayble · 11/06/2021 20:43

Agree about downsizing.
Thought it sounded like a really good idea for a film but it was like the original scriptwriters walked out halfway through writing it and whoever came in after them didn't read the first half and just made up a whole new concept for the rest of the film. So bizarre.

Also sex and the city 2. I mainly try and pretend it never happened. Was just horrendously bad.

Bohemond · 11/06/2021 20:44

Three for me:
Shadow Boxer - v terrible with Helen Mirren and Cuba Gooding Junior
Chef film with Sienna Miller and Bradley Cooper set in London. AWFUL
Parasite - absolutely no idea why this was so feted.

thenightsky · 11/06/2021 20:45

The Blair Witch Project. When it came out, there was huge hype about how terrifying it was

I should never have paid to see that in the cinema, but I did. It ended and the whole audience (about 10 of us) collectively turned to one another and said... 'is that it?'

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/06/2021 20:45

Mr Schmidt.

watched it because of Jack Nicholson and there was one moment we smirked.
utter drivel

RolloTomassi · 11/06/2021 20:46

Love Actually
Scrooged
Cloverfield

I also thought Inception was mega boring.

supercee · 11/06/2021 20:50

Cloverfield.
2012. I fell asleep in the cinema watching that. One of the worst films I've ever seen.
Irvine Welsh's Ecstasy. Even the Scottish actors' Scottish accents were shite (and I'm Scottish).
And yes to SATC 2.

CornishGem1975 · 11/06/2021 20:50

One Day.

stillcrazyafterall · 11/06/2021 20:51

I loved Mama Mia but MM2 is dire.

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 11/06/2021 20:52

Oh, I loved Cloverfield. Blush

Aposterhasnoname · 11/06/2021 20:54

Sound of music. What a pile of crap. Closely followed by its a wonderful life. How people watch that drivel over and over is beyond me. Sorry (not sorry)

Holothane · 11/06/2021 20:54

Joker bored me just wasn’t interested
Ted I hated it but then I hate most c9medy anyway
Truly Madly Deeply the woman who grizzled for the whole film just got on my nerves
Mesmer Dreadful film just awful
The Shinning bored me to tears.

I went to see the original theatre version with a reunion holiday romance. Must have been love (but it didn't last) because I hate theatre and I was proved right yet again.

Speaking as an uncouth peasant the film will definitely be passing me by.

BroccoliRob · 11/06/2021 21:02

Inception, Parasite and Interstellar are in the top 20 films of all time on IMDB

CathyorClaire · 11/06/2021 21:03

@stillcrazyafterall

I loved Mama Mia but MM2 is dire.
Ah, now I'm the opposite.

Here We Go Again is incomparably better.

supercee · 11/06/2021 21:03

@Ragoo

Mother

This is something I've strangely wanted to watch but haven't as I know it's going to be shit.

ChequerBoard · 11/06/2021 21:05

@Ragoo

Jennifer Lawrence is a repeat offender here.

BroccoliRob · 11/06/2021 21:08

@supercee It starts off good and it's very mysterious, keeps you watching......then it goes down a path that quite frankly there is no coming back from once you've watched it. There's a particular scene that definitely requires the eye bleach afterwards.

Shorthairlady · 11/06/2021 21:10

Interstellar. I was so angry I wasted so much time on that twaddle.
