DH and I just finished watching 'Downsizing' starring Matt Damon and we're baffled.

Legit looked at each other at the end of the movie like wtf was that🤣🤣
The downsizing concept (shrinking people) sounded interesting and had so much potential at the start but then the movie suddenly turns into what feels like a completely different plot about global warming and saving the planet.
What a waste of a good cast too - Kristen Wiig, Christoph Waltz etc

It's not even bad in a funny way, it's just bad. I was expecting a comedy 😑
It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
Hated it so much I started a thread lmao 😂

What's the worst movie you've ever seen?

OP posts:

The Revenant - long and veeeeery dull
The Shape Of Water - pointless, no idea what all the fuss was about
Most superhero movies, with a few exceptions (I don't bother watching them any more)

I like Interstellar, but can see why others wouldn't. Same with The Place Beyond The Pines which I bloody love.

I also love a cheesy "so bad it's good" movie, especially of the disaster variety.

I have walked out of a Cinema once. That was Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

I nearly did it with The English Patient too.

Einszwei · 11/06/2021 19:57

Titanic 2 ... need I say more?

I have also never understood the appeal of Lost in Translation - utter drivel.

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 11/06/2021 19:59

I’m a LTL of the Kermode and Mayo film review on Radio 5/podcast.

Hello to Jason Isaacs ......

@AgeLikeWine

Star Wars : Phantom Menace.

Not just a kids’ film, a totally crap kids’ film. I’m old enough to have watched the first three SW films on their original release, and I loved them, so I was looking forward to the prequels. My enthusiasm lasted about 20 minutes. It’s still the only film I have ever walked out of having paid to see it.

It's not just you, it's a well known fact that Phantom Menace is shite.
Numnumcookie · 11/06/2021 20:06

The Fountain

Pretentious load of wank. As was the ex boyfriend who made me watch it (his favourite movie apparently).

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 11/06/2021 20:08

Titanic 2 ... need I say more?

:o

I guess it was lost in translation...

(sorry, weak sauce)

@spotcheck

The Wolf of Wallstreet
Literally one of the best films ever made!

The Blair Witch Project. When it came out, there was huge hype about how terrifying it was, so when it turned up on TV, Dh and I watched it. Neither of us could work out what was supposed to be so scary about it - apart from the knowledge that that was an hour and forty-five minutes of our lives we were never getting back.
Agreed. Only scary bit was right at the end, seconds before it finished. So boring.
Popchips · 11/06/2021 20:14

Sex in the city 2
Tropic thunder
Anchorman

augustusglupe · 11/06/2021 20:15

Mad Max 1, 2, 3 or however many there were Hmm
DH loved it.

LittleMissPeggySue · 11/06/2021 20:15

The original version of The Wicker Man. DP got me to watch it one Halloween a few years ago, it was weird and scared the living shit out of me. Told him in no uncertain terms that I will never, ever watch it again.

Spies in Disguise, saw it at the cinema was DS. The fire alarm went off and the cinema was evacuated about 10 minutes before the end, I remember hoping we could go back in and watch the rest because I wanted to know what happened but it was so bloody tedious that I couldn't have sat through it a second time.

Lord of the rings Trilogy because I fell asleep when ExH tried to get me to watch it. DP has suggested it many times during f the 4 years we've been together and I told him the other night that I'll watch all 3 the day he buys me an engagement ring. I reckon it'll be ages before I have to sit through it 😂😂😂

LondonPainter · 11/06/2021 20:17

Downsizing was such a terrible film! I remember seeing it at the cinema and being Confused

I do love Vicky Cristina Barcelona though Blush

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/06/2021 20:21

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius

same with Silence of the Lambs. the absolute hysteria about it being so scary.
I found it more "good twists" than "scary".
Psychological thrillers don't scare me.

however, I still find Jurassic Park terrifying

CallMeCleo · 11/06/2021 20:23

Rocketman

gnushoes · 11/06/2021 20:23

Cujo (murderous dog)
Christine (murderous car)

StCharlotte · 11/06/2021 20:27

@iloveredwine

Lost in Translation years ago. So awful
Yes a huge let down.

Mine is Star Trek. The first one from about 1980. If I hadn't been in the middle of the row I'd have walked out.

I was also bored rigid by The Shining.

OohKittens · 11/06/2021 20:27

Howard the duck

CathyorClaire · 11/06/2021 20:27

Lost In Translation

The Science Of Sleep

Hope Springs

And my latest unwatchable: Vikingdom

Blair Witch ending is among my best ever but I do agree there's a lot of tedious snot and wailing to grit teeth through before you get there.

BroccoliRob · 11/06/2021 20:28

Beneath

Literally the worst acting I've seen in quite some time. Plus very unrealistic killer fish.

copperpotsalot · 11/06/2021 20:29

Daddie's Girls. I'll watch anything with Idris Elba in but lord alive that's a terrible film

Juanbablo · 11/06/2021 20:31

The Boat. Absolute shite.

FixTheBone · 11/06/2021 20:33

Well, the responses tell you one thing - it's as much down to taste as anything.

Anybody who has put things like Wall E or Interstellar clearly haven't watched enough films.

My vote, it's a tough one but the 1998 Lost in space with Matt Le Blanc has to come pretty close. The recent Cats Musical has to be a very close contender though.
