DH and I just finished watching 'Downsizing' starring Matt Damon and we're baffled.

Legit looked at each other at the end of the movie like wtf was that🤣🤣
The downsizing concept (shrinking people) sounded interesting and had so much potential at the start but then the movie suddenly turns into what feels like a completely different plot about global warming and saving the planet.
What a waste of a good cast too - Kristen Wiig, Christoph Waltz etc

It's not even bad in a funny way, it's just bad. I was expecting a comedy 😑
It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
Hated it so much I started a thread lmao 😂

What's the worst movie you've ever seen?

@Vooga I wanted to rip my arm off and beat myself to death but I was with a friend who insisted I finish. Such awful English stereotyping - if you'll pardon my profanity - who talks like that?

NigellaSeed · 11/06/2021 18:41

Downsizing! Matt Damon movie - awful 💩

VouisLuitton · 11/06/2021 18:43

A Good Year with Russell Crowe in. Walked out of the cinema after about half an hour 😴

TeamNegan · 11/06/2021 18:43

@TheMotherlode Sharknado is a masterpiece of utter cringe Grin

Open Water is mine. Just people flapping about in the sea for the entire time until they die. And I paid to see it at the cinema!

LemonRoses · 11/06/2021 18:43

The 'Irrelevant' has to be up there as one of the worst. De Caprio crawling around the ground and grunting excessively didn't do it for me. I can't see what the acclaim was all about. Elf was so much better.

ChocOrange1 · 11/06/2021 18:43

@TheGriffle

Ted is the only movie I’ve never watched until the end. I can’t even remember why now but it must have been crap for me to turn it off!
Yes Ted was awful. My husband also made me sit through Ted 2 which was, if possible, even worse.

I also thought Bridesmaids was bad. Probably not a popular opinion but I just didn't find it funny and all the characters were horrible.

I now won't watch anything with a score of 7 or below on IMBD. Even 7.5 is pushing it..

NigellaSeed · 11/06/2021 18:44

Someone said wolf of wall Street wtaf.

Faranth · 11/06/2021 18:45

Bloody loved Eternal Sunshine and Lost in Translation.

Also liked Perfect Storm, but that may have been because I was 13 ish, and went to see it in the cinema while my DB was taken to see Stuart Little. Would make the same choice again!

WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 11/06/2021 18:46

Gravity, where Sandra Bullock floats in space for most of the film

Fyredraca · 11/06/2021 18:47

Agree about The Shape of Water, bloody awful.

Worst ever was The Core.

Pretty much any film with Matthew McConaughey in it. Which is weird because I loved him in True Detective

GrouchyKiwi · 11/06/2021 18:48

DH and I watched Mama Mia at the cinema and quite enjoyed it. When it came on the TV (or Netflix, or something) I thought I'd rewatch it while doing my ironing. I lasted about 10 minutes and had to switch it off. Was TERRIBLE. I don't know why we liked it first time around. Maybe the volume in the cinema broke our ears.

Sharknado and films of that ilk are meant to be bad and thus don't count (and I love them).

ChocOrange1 · 11/06/2021 18:49

@TheMotherlode

Clearly none of you have watched Sharknado
Sharknado is supposed to be terrible so that doesn't count Grin
JumpLeadsForTwo · 11/06/2021 18:50

@PJsEveryday

Holmes and Watson. We managed 10 minutes before we all conceded it was the worst movie we'd ever seen. And no one I know has watched ot all the way through. Just a really shite film.
Holmes and Watson - so much promise with the actors involved but it was shocking, like they hadn't written a scoot and told the actors to just try and outdo each other!
cushioncovers · 11/06/2021 18:51

'There will be blood' is one of my favourite films.

Roselilly36 · 11/06/2021 18:51

The Greatest Showman

bigbeatmanifesto · 11/06/2021 18:52

Saw someone said Vicky Christina Barcelona and I've never come across another person who sat through that drivel how it was Oscar nominated I will never understand shockingly awful.

Home Alone 4 - why. Just WHY.

Disco Pigs - people have an obsession with Cillian Murphy and I'll never ever be on board with it because of that film.

LobotomisedIceSkatingFan · 11/06/2021 18:54

'The Sweetest Thing' with Diaz, Blair and Applegate, all of whom I like in varying degrees. I think it's the only film I've walked out of, and I've seen 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows'.

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 11/06/2021 18:54

Kong: Skull Island.

A dreadful big bucket of shite.

JumpLeadsForTwo · 11/06/2021 18:54

Also That's my boy - Adam Sandler. Lasted 5mins, had to turn off at the teacher flirting with the teenager

CheerfulBunny · 11/06/2021 18:54

Fell asleep at the cinema in Addams Family 2. The big question is why I went in the first place.
Worst film by a country mile is Fifty Shades of Grey. I only watched it out of curiosity on Netflix (so free) to see what all the fuss was about. I kept stopping it and wondering if I wanted to carry on with it. I only did to see if she tells him to fuck off. She doesn't.
I couldn't finish the book either, I gave up after four chapters. Worst book I've ever read, come to think of it.

SquirrelFan · 11/06/2021 18:55

Natural Born Killers. They were going for gritty, shocking yet funny, some kind of statement about humanity, but I didn't see if they achieved it as I walked out, sickened.

The Clouds of Sils Maria. Juliette Binoche and Kristen Stewart wandering around a mountainside (boringly). Spoiler: one of them disappears AND IT'S NEVER MENTIONED.

GooodMythicalMorning · 11/06/2021 18:56

Yes Gravity was pretty bad, like an armageddon rip-off without the good bits.

suckingonchillidogs · 11/06/2021 18:58

The English Patient zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Staffy1 · 11/06/2021 19:00

The man in the moon. Just bloody awful in all ways possible.

Lsquiggles · 11/06/2021 19:01

Grease 2 Angry
