DH and I just finished watching 'Downsizing' starring Matt Damon and we're baffled.

Legit looked at each other at the end of the movie like wtf was that🤣🤣
The downsizing concept (shrinking people) sounded interesting and had so much potential at the start but then the movie suddenly turns into what feels like a completely different plot about global warming and saving the planet.
What a waste of a good cast too - Kristen Wiig, Christoph Waltz etc

It's not even bad in a funny way, it's just bad. I was expecting a comedy 😑
It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
Hated it so much I started a thread lmao 😂

What's the worst movie you've ever seen?

Biggest pile of shite and it went on for hours and hours

Even after all these years it makes me angry just thinking about it

cookingmygoose · 11/06/2021 23:14

I thought Eat, Pray, Love was pretty dull.

YesPleaseMary · 11/06/2021 23:15

Best worst film ever is Star Crash. It’s on Prime. Incomprehensible plot, abysmal script, shiny costumes, crap robots, effects done by toddlers… it is hilarious!

minty133 · 11/06/2021 23:17

Can't believe no one's mentioned the first Harry Potter film!!!

NFLwidow · 11/06/2021 23:17

prêt-a-porter

Wafflehouse · 11/06/2021 23:18

Destination Wedding, almost completely forgot about this it was so dire. Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves both being completely awful and wooden and the film itself reminded me of having to do awful improv in secondary school drama lessons.

I didn’t make it beyond 30 minutes it was bum clenchingly bad.

StevieNix · 11/06/2021 23:18

Eat pray love is by far the worst film I have ever seen!
I love Julia Roberts, I love pretty woman, Notting hill etc.
I love the idea of the film- travelling to different countries etc
But my god it was the most self-indulgent shit I’ve ever seen.

longtompot · 11/06/2021 23:20

@spotcheck

The Wolf of Wallstreet
Hated that film. It was like the same two or three scenes over and over for hours until the end.

THE Worst film I have ever seen, and is our go to if we see a bad film, "is it as bad as Betrayal of The Dove?" Pile. Of. Shite.

Onelifeonly · 11/06/2021 23:23

Things to do in Denver when you're dead. The only film I've ever walked out of a cinema for.

100% yes. Felt the same about the book (so not sure why I endured the film).

TigerTulip · 11/06/2021 23:26

The Shape of Water
I can't even be bothered to explain why I thought it was the worst film ever. The shape of shit.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/06/2021 23:29

yup, Wolf of Wall Street was a mistake

Dangleclack · 11/06/2021 23:29

Plan 9 From Outer Space. Bela Lugosi, star of 30s Dracula movies, died half way through filming so the director (Ed Wood) just had a stand in play his part with a cape covering his face for the rest of the shoot.

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 11/06/2021 23:31

Love actually

The grand Budapest hotel, seems pretty everyone in the cinema fell asleep whilst we were watching that one

ChippyDucks150 · 11/06/2021 23:37

Phonebooth. It was utter shit

GooodMythicalMorning · 11/06/2021 23:38

Oh and buried alive. same genre as phonebooth but underground.

StellaOlivetti · 11/06/2021 23:41

Roma. I have a high tolerance for shit films but this was a) pretentious and b) dull and c) extremely pleased with itself. One is ok, two is just about ok but three …. No thanks.

Hoolihan · 11/06/2021 23:49

How can anyone say Parasite is a bad film?? Maybe you didn't like it but it the cinematography alone is stunning. I also loved the George Clooney version of Solaris which has also been mentioned. I cried my eyes out. The Shining is a masterpiece.

I think the worst film I've seen is The Hills Have Eyes, just thought it was utterly disgusting.

There are so many amazing films on this thread I’m really surprised.

The worst film I couldn’t actually finish was How Do You Know. My mate and I used to go to blockbusters every week, we watched so many bad films, but it was one we actually turned to each other and said “what the fuck is this?” The cast is good too! Total shocker.

One of the funniest films I’ve ever seen is Grim Weekend. It is SO bad it’s insanely good 😂 Please if you’ve never seen it just find it and watch it. I discovered it about 15 years ago on the Horror channel in the early hours and have been quoting it ever since! One scene a man knocks on the door and says “You’re not gonna believe this,” then falls flat to the floor to reveal he has an axe in his back 😂😁

IAmDaveTheSerialShagger · 12/06/2021 00:33

Anything with Hugh Grant in!

WithANameLikeDaniCalifornia · 12/06/2021 00:33

@hazandduck “Grim Weekend” sounds like an AIBU thread title. The thread would probably involve mother-in-law and step-children and the neighbours parking in front of your drive.

raeroe · 12/06/2021 07:41

Norbit with Eddie Murphy, it's the only time I've left a film at the cinema early and I only stayed as long as I did to see how many people walked out! There was about 20 and every one of them left before the end!

@Hoolihan I totally agree. The cinematography in Parasite is fantastic. It also has an original plot and the acting is great. Similarly can't understand why anyone would think The Wolf of Wall Street was a bad film. The director is Martin Scorsese!!! Yes you may not have enjoyed it but it's not a bad film.
BroccoliRob · 12/06/2021 09:10

Adding to the list:
Shattered Memories on Netflix - awful, confusing, bad acting, bad direction, plot holes
