Just been to a preview screening.

Very emotional film. Liked it more than I thought I would.

Is it the best film of this year as per the hype? Not for me but it is good and well taking time out to see.

Great acting from Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga and Sam Elliott.

Sadly the wooden acting of whoever played her manager really let the film down with a bizarre British accent and stilted delivery.

Bit too long.

I would recommend it - take the tissues.

Loved it. Wanted BC to wash his greasy hair, though.

Absolutely LOVED this film.

Lady Gaga was utterly exceptional acting and singing.

Bradley Cooper was delish, except for the greasy hair!

Been listening to the soundtrack nonstop. Always Remember us this Way is my favourite, sniff!

Watched this on Friday & can't believe how much it has affected me. It's been on my mind ever since. If I hadn't been told it was Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga I never would have believed it. Such an emotional film, brilliant acting & directing & I just want to watch it again! I've downloaded the soundtrack and been belting out Shallow 🤣

I thought this was fairly enjoyable but nothing special

There were some issues with the time jumps

The performances were good especially that of Cooper

I don't think it deserves all of the hype and praise it's receiving right now

Watched this tonight. I’ve been looking forward to it for ages and it didn’t disappoint. I thought Bradley and gaga were outstanding. Loved the music.

For all the Bradley fans, if you haven’t seen Burnt, (it’s on Netflix ) then you should. He’s amazing in that too.

Just seen this. Good but not great. Thought it was too long and the dialogue seemed very false at times, particularly Bradley Cooper and Sam Elliot.
Lady GaGa was great but not sure why Bradley Cooper was trying his hardest to sound like Kris Kristofferson!
Songs and musical performances excellent. Loved the dog!
Didn't make me cry. Still preferred Bohemian Rhapsody.

I always thought BC was hot Smile
Those blue eyes.
His voice was such a deep gravelly sound.
How talented is he !!! Acting, directing and singing.
His singing and Gagas of course was brill.
She's a terrific actress / singer/ performer.
Does she have filler in her top lip? If she does she should stop.
I'll definitely download the music.
Who played Gaga's manager ?

Finally watched this tonight. I had no preconceptions having not seen the original or the remakes. Totally stunned by what happened to Jack. Bradley Cooper was brilliant as the tortured artist and Lady Gaga was incredible. Now I know what happens think I'll be crying every time I hear the soundtrack!

Agree with PP that I'm disappointed Ally's manager didn't get some sort of comeuppence for his part in Jack's demise.

Umm. I don't think the songs are a patch on Bs version
I cringed when they copied the bath scene , BC face seemed greasy all the time! Greasy and slimy.

And his voice.. having said that did enjoy it but it doesn't make sense that one stupid comment from nasty character is enough to make him kill himself.

Much prefer the Kris Kristofferson Ending....

Over all I feel Kris Kristofferson version is much better...get more of a sense of his wealth.. isolation...

Has anyone seen the clip of them performing Shallow at the Oscars? So glad it won best original song too.

They reignited the already fairly pervasive speculation last night certainly

Watching this again.
Came up on sky.

I can't believe what the producer Rev says to Jack:

"You derailed her whole career, .... just by staying married to you she looks like a joke. It's embarrassing. "

That's no way to speak to anyone. Rev's just a fame hungry opportunist.

Made me feel ill.

Yes I know Jack has mental health problems but Ally loved him. Would she not have chosen him?

I loved it, seen it 3 times now. I haven't seen the other versions. I thought BC was excellent in it, really great acting from him. LG was good and I thought the chemistry was good too.

I hated what the manager did, so cold and sad.

I'd not seen the film as I didn't think I would like it.
But, I've just watched it on a long haul flight and OMG
I loved it! DH was next to me watching bohemian rhapsody. He looked at me likeHmm as I sat there with tears running down my face.
Her voice is amazing!

Reviving this thread as I just watched this for the first time on TV and was a bit underwhelmed by it. There was so much hype around this film that I thought it would be amazing, but for me it was not the best version of this film by a long shot.

Gaga is talented and there are a couple of great songs but I don't particularly like her voice and I think she lacks charisma. Cooper played his part well, he seemed very believable in the role, although the final scenes involving the demise of his character seemed clumsy and poorly scripted. Overall I prefer the 1954 version with Judy Garland and James Mason - it has more glamour and star quality to it. I have never seen the version with Barbra Streisand but I expect it's pretty good and will watch it when I get the chance.

Does anyone else feel that the 2018 version was not the best one?

I didn't like it at all. I watched it when it first came out and was bored to death and so sick of the constant swearing. Shallow is the best thing about it.

@SisterJude I thought the same

@ImJustMadAboutSaffron took my elderly DM to see this at the cinema. She hates swearing!

Very much enjoyed this new one but if I could only ever see one it would be the Barbra Streisand/KK one.
