Can we? Who has seen it?

OP posts:
MrsJayy · 28/04/2018 18:39

I have not seen Dr strange because I am not keen on Benedict but I thought he was great with his hand wooshy magic Grin

MrsJayy · 28/04/2018 18:42

Yes it is fine for a 9year old imo it is no more violent than any other Marvel film, it is sad though.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 28/04/2018 18:46

Saw it again today. I don’t think it is Valkyrie on the ship but I did think that the first time!
I absolutely love how they did Thanos. I thought he was going be a heartless, killing thing with no real story. But they made him really human.

Paleblue · 28/04/2018 19:20

Yes I think it is suitable for a nine year old. My nine year old loved it and he can be overly sensitive to things. He was absolutely fine, though I did warn him that a lot of the characters die.

MrsJayy · 28/04/2018 19:22

Lots of 9ish year old kids when we were there a wee boy did get upset bless him

Oswin · 28/04/2018 19:27

Op yeah i saw the end bit. I wonder if that means we can expect captain marvel in the next film.

NeverTalksToStrangers · 28/04/2018 19:33

I took my 2ds (6 And 9) today. They were both fine seeing it. Loved it.

However, on the way there we were discussing (quite animatedly) who might die. Everything was fine until one of us said "maybe Hulk". My 6 year old suddenly burst into tears. They were put-on, over dramatic tears admittedly, but still. He has just loved hulk since he's been tiny. The 9yo has switched from spidey to Thor to iron man to cap etc. But ds2 has been loyal to banner, so i was very relieved when he lasted to the end.

NeverTalksToStrangers · 28/04/2018 19:35

There's definitely going to be a Captain Marvel movie Oswin.

It's set in the 90's. And will include nick fury and agent Olsen.

MrsJayy · 28/04/2018 19:38

I have a soft spot for Hulk I have loved him since the series in early 80s I would have been really upset if he was turned to dust

NeverTalksToStrangers · 28/04/2018 19:38

Coulson not Olsen, lol.

Oswin · 29/04/2018 01:07

Never i saw that Iwas reading an article about nice fury only contacting her now when its really bad. I wonder is she going to be in her own move, go off to do her own thing then gets called back by fury. The writer seemed to think she had gone off to live in space. I hope they do bring her in to the next avengers. Need more females.
Im still not over it though. Grin. A whole bloody year.

EventNotInData · 29/04/2018 09:54

“Nice Fury” Grin typo of the day

NurseButtercup · 29/04/2018 10:05

I'm still processing this in my mind, saw it last night, the cinema was packed and there was the stunned silence at the end. Bloody brilliant story telling, action and comedy moments. Favourite comedy moments that I can recall are: Spiderman realising what he's got involved in, introducing himself as Peter then realising nobody is using their real name, introducing the Aliens film to the old timers. Hulk refusing to come out was both funny and omg you get out here now! Shock

I love teenage Groot, I felt like a proud mom when he stepped up and made the handle for Thor's new axe, and he was fighting in the battle at Wakanda. I was/am genuinely devastated that he was turned into ash.

I'm so happy this is the space I'm using to demonstrate how overly invested I am in this film.

I'm annoyed that Gwyneth Paltrow still appears in these films, and her calling ironman whining about getting off the ship was sooooooo annoying. I know I know she's just playing a character, I just don't think she's a very good actress.

The message I took away from this film was be mindful of what choices you make/how you treat people in the pursuit of your goals.

I agree that after Thanos has sat in the sun for a bit, he'll regret it and will use the stone to turn back time

Brilliant film - I'm going to see it again very soon.

EventNotInData · 29/04/2018 10:12

The joke wasn’t that Peter didn’t realise that they weren’t using their real names - it was that Dr Strange’s real name sounds like it’s made up.

theaveragewife · 29/04/2018 10:19

The message I took away is that captain marvel is going to be brilliant! Grin

SouthWestmom · 29/04/2018 10:26

Thanos can't use the stones anymore - the glove was destroyed and that was the only way he could use their energy.

The bit that got me was Dr Strange saying to Ironman 'there was no other way' which I wasn't sure meant either giving the stone to Thanos had to happen or Thanos won in all scenarios.

Apparently the new Ant Man is before infinity and after civil war and has some links.

bakingdemon · 29/04/2018 13:04

@Noeuf I think Dr Strange meant that in the only scenario he could see where they defeat Thanos, he has to get all six stones. Maybe the power of all of them will be too much for him to wield/control.

SouthWestmom · 29/04/2018 13:10

Thanks , it was quite poignant. Although less so if he did it to save the planet and not Ironman!

So really not that many died 'properly' just a few fringe characters. I've read that Part 2 might see a swap and the others have to go...

Might have to watch Civil War again.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 29/04/2018 13:41

Know a few films are coming out over the years so you sort of know some deaths aren't going to stick.. Unless set before.Loki :-( be surprised if he comes back.

A whole year!!!

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 29/04/2018 14:58

Gwyneth Paltrow is definitely the weak link - which is odd as Marvel’s casting otherwise has been so, so well done. I think perhaps I have been influenced by some of her more ridiculous RL activities - her “conscious uncoupling”, for example, and her lifestyle website - and thus can’t take her remotely seriously as an actor any more, because I can’t take her seriously as a human being.

SouthWestmom · 29/04/2018 16:20

@TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross I think that's it probably, she's so publicly daft it's like he's with Gwyneth not Miss Potts.

BringOnTheScience · 29/04/2018 18:25

I sobbed buckets at the end. Esp SM. And when Thanos wound back time to get Vision!!!! Shock

I did love the moment when 4 women were fighting though. Marvel women are epic.

theaveragewife · 29/04/2018 19:44

Just before the 4 women were fighting I said to DH I was fed up with the men being given the main battle scenes - still think there should be more women, but hopefully captain marvel will be great, I’d absolutely love a spidergirl too.

crazycatgal · 29/04/2018 20:21

I don't understand how Black Widow has managed to get a lovely blonde dye job when she's supposed to have been a fugitive for the past couple of years?

EventNotInData · 29/04/2018 20:26

Of all the plot issues in this film you’re choosing to have a problem with “highly intelligent and physically trained spy manages to give herself a half decent dye job with a box of Clairol in a hotel bathroom”?
