Kevin Whately will always be NEVILLE!!!
Tim Healy will always be Dennis!
Timothy Spall will always be "Barry, Barry Taylor" (said sheepishly in Birmingham accent thus pronounced 'Tyler')

Tom Selleck will always be Thomas Magnum

BikeRunSki · 01/08/2016 11:39

Saw BFG with the dc's last week. Despite all her subsequent roles, Penelope Wilton will always be "Anne from Ever Decreasing Circles" to me.

0ellenbrody0 · 01/08/2016 11:45

Yy to Joan Hickson as Miss Marple. I can watch any if the others, but they're just impersonating MM. Joan Hickson actually is her.

Idris Elba is always Stringer Bell.

user1466795981 · 01/08/2016 11:49

Haha I'm with you on Penelope Wilton BikeRunSki!! just loved that programme!

Isthatwhatdemonsdo · 01/08/2016 11:51

Harrison Ford: Han Solo and Indiana Jones. Always.

AliceThrewTheFookingGlass · 01/08/2016 12:10

shotsfired Jason statham is another that just plays himself in every film he's in.

OscarDeLaYenta · 01/08/2016 12:18

John Hurt will always be Caligula.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 01/08/2016 12:50

Ralf Little spoiled Our Zoo a bit for me, because every time he appeared I was expecting somebody to say "Anthony, get the door!". There weren't even that many episodes of The Royle Family...

BikeRunSki · 01/08/2016 12:54

No, John Hurt is The Elephant Man!

MoonriseKingdom · 01/08/2016 12:55

I'd like to disagree with whoever said David Tennant and Doctor Who. I think he's a really good and versatile actor. Watch him in Jessica Jones on Netflix. Truly terrifying.

SaucyJack · 01/08/2016 12:59

"Idris Elba is always Stringer Bell."

Until he gets to be Bond.

Katedotness1963 · 01/08/2016 13:03

Joan Hickson as Miss Marple. No one else will ever come close, she was absolutely perfect for the role. I watched an old Margaret Rutherford Marple once and Joan Hickson played the cook.

Patrick Stewart is Jean Luc Picard

Robert Hardy is Seigfried Farnon as Christopher Timothy will always be James Herriott.

Penelope Keith is Margot (the last name just disappeared as I was typing this)

GetAHaircutCarl · 01/08/2016 13:13

Joshua Jackson will always be Pacey.

Anna Chancellor will always be Duckface.

user1466795981 · 01/08/2016 13:27

Katedotness - agree about Robert Hardy /Siegfried thing - but check out 'Hot Metal where he plays Twiggy Rathbone - its the only time I've seen him play a character that's not 'RP speaking, Oxbridge/public school type' - he's excellent in that and it's the only time I've heard him speak with a 'working class' accent! I wish I'd watched the series when it was originally out - in 1986 - still, I managed to find clips on YouTube.

blackbunny · 01/08/2016 13:36

Steve Coogan always plays Steve Coogan whatever he's in
Mind you I wouldWink

Jon Pertwee = The Doctor. With the greatest respect to Tom Baker and Peter Davison, Jon Pertwee owned that role.

MrsFlump · 01/08/2016 13:58

Leonard Nimoy was and always will be Spock

Butteredparsnips · 01/08/2016 15:06

bikerunski agree re Penelope Wilton. Likewise Peter Egan will always be the smug bloke. Was it Paul?

Agree too with with the auf weidersehen, pet trio + Jimmy Nail will always be Oz.

Sarah Lancashire will always be Raquel from Corrie.

Todd Carty was never Mark in East Enders. He will always be Tucker.

user1466795981 · 01/08/2016 15:13

Butteredparsnips haha yes it was Paul!

Agree with you totally re. Raquel and Tucker, in addition on the auf weidersehen pet trio, Bill Paterson will always be Ally Fraser!

Geoffrey Palmer will always be Wendy Craig's husband in Butterflies and for me (surprisingly) the late John Thaw will always be the father of the teenage son 'Matthew' in Home to Roost and not Morse! The actor who played Matthew also played Gail McIntyre's husband and Tina's father in Corrie.

user1466795981 · 01/08/2016 15:14

tanfield - Tom Baker will be 'my' doctor as it's the only time I've ever watched Dr Who was when he was in it!! Guess my age anyone??!!

user1466795981 · 01/08/2016 15:19

Sorry yes Jimmy Nail is always Oz - he hasn't done as much acting subsequently as some of the others - I can only think of Spender and Crocodile Shoes - but was the only one of the cast to have a number one song!

On another note, the only time it's acceptable to refer to oneself in the third person is if you're 'Bomber' from Auf Wiedersehen Pet! Otherwise it's a no-no! The late Pat Roach who played him has had parts in a few high profile films I think, but to me he'll always be Bomber!!
