Daniel Radcliffe will always be Harry Potter.

OP posts:

Agree re. Tristan always being Tristan (was when I stopped watching Dr Who)
Isthatwhatdemonsdo - Harrison Ford surely is Deckard just as much if not more as Han Solo or Indiana Jones?

Sadik · 01/08/2016 15:39

OTOH I thought Peter Capaldi would be forever Malcolm Tucker, but actually I think he does a good job of being the Doctor (despite some shocking scripts).

Bogeyface · 01/08/2016 15:41

User I recently rewatched the whole AWP from start to finish (including the special) and yy to Jimmy Nail being Oz. Was lovely in the last one where they had a drink to Bomber, after Pat Roach had passed away.

Also, Timothy Spall will always be Barry the Radish, despite everything that he has done since.

user1466795981 · 01/08/2016 15:43

sadik or 'Tristan' will always be Patricia Hodge's husband in
'Holding the Fort' also starring a young Matthew Kelly (not showing my age, or anything)

wizzywig · 01/08/2016 15:44

Jennifer aniston and zooey deschanel (like ajay deschanel from sunset beach) will always play ditzy girls

bearleftmonkeyright · 01/08/2016 15:47

Tom Hanks will always be a wholesome all American guy.

user1466795981 · 01/08/2016 15:50

Bogeyface - aw I didn't see the one where they had the drink to Bomber. Then again, to be honest, I wanted to associate AWP completely with the 80s - which is why I refused to watch the revival in the early 2000s - perhaps a little narrow mindedly.

Barry the Radish! - I get the impression from things Ive read etc that Timothy Spall is considered the most successful actor of that original cast - 'success' is subjective of course but I see what they mean - given the variety and high profile of the roles he's played since .

MrsJayy · 01/08/2016 16:09

Zoey Deshcanel bugs me the Dds watch new girl and the ditziness makes me want to poke my eyes out

MrsJayy · 01/08/2016 16:12

And Zooey im sure her parents thought it was quirky but it really is just irritating

Butteredparsnips · 01/08/2016 16:43

user1466795981 I had forgotten Ally Fraser, but yes totally agree.

Brenda Blethyn will also always be Mim from outside Edge. I can't get her as Vera, because I always here her as Mim.

dustarr73 · 01/08/2016 16:50

Bruce Jones will always be Les Battersby.

I was watching Harry Potter the other night and i thought through all the films all the actors, stayed for the whole franchise.Apart from Richard Harris who died.

And Daniel Radcliffe always comes across as lovely when he is interviewed.

MrsJayy · 01/08/2016 16:55

ShelaghTurner · 01/08/2016 17:26

YY to the Auf Wiedersehen Pet actors. And Sir Ian is Iago to me!

tanfield90 · 01/08/2016 18:05

user. You must be at least 40. I'm 45 and remember Jon Pertwee regenerating into Tom Baker in Dr.Who.

user1466795981 · 01/08/2016 18:07

tanfield - you're right - 43!! I don't remember Jon Pertwee at all ! I'm definitely 'Tom Baker' era - with a few of the very early bits of Peter Davison.

user1466795981 · 01/08/2016 18:10

Thora Hird will always be Aunty Ivy from In Loving Memory!

Anniegetyourgun · 01/08/2016 18:27

Ha! You spring chicken. When I started watching Dr Who it was William Hartnell. (He wasn't even a Time Lord then, just a dotty scientist, at least as far as anyone knew.) I also saw the movies with Peter Cushing, who was of course excellent in the role. Jon Pertwee was very good, as was Tom Baker - different aspects of the character (Pertwee more the scientist, Baker more the dotty!).

The only doctor I couldn't stand at any price was Colin Baker, whose reign was mercifully brief. I didn't like the series much by the time Sylvester McCoy was in it but I don't think that was McCoy's fault.

user1466795981 · 01/08/2016 19:02

George Cole - Minder
Donald Sinden - London antique dealer - 'Never the Twain'
Molly Sugden - Are you Being Served
Frank Thornton I also associated with Are you Being Served and not 'Summer Wine'
Bill Owen (Compo) - Last of the summer wine
Geoffrey Hughes is always Eddie Yates in Corrie and not Onslow - nor his character in Hearbeat!
Bill Maynard, on the other hand will always be that guy in 'The Gaffer' and not Claude Greengrass/Heartbeat! (not showing age)
Diane Keen - Fliss from 'Cuckoo Waltz' (anyone else remember that?!) and not in Doctors like she was subsequently

elQuintoConyo · 01/08/2016 19:03

Mark Harmon wil always be Ted Bundy (serial killer mini-series).

Peter Davidson: Tristan.

Keanu Reeves forever 'Ted' Theodore Logan.

David Duchovny always Foxy Smulder.

Gillian Anderson is Stella Gibson, surprisingly (or is it Gibbon?? Whatever, she was named after two guitars!).

Pauline Fowler will always be Her from Are You Being Served (sorry, terrible mental block Blush) Miss Brahms?

Harrison Ford for me is always the cowboy from American Graffiti.

Dawn French is both the Corrs sisters!

Great thread OP!

user1466795981 · 01/08/2016 19:04

Butteredparsnips - I was aware of the programme Outside Edge but never watched it - Timothy Spall was in that too but of course he's never associated with it!

MorrisZapp · 01/08/2016 19:06

The man who played the rapist in Thelma and Louise will always be the rapist from Thelma and Louise.

Cornishclio · 01/08/2016 19:07

Penelope Keith will always be Margot from the Good life

John Cleese will always be Basil Fawlty from Fawlty towers

user1466795981 · 01/08/2016 19:07

elQuinto - yes Miss Brahms lol - she's always that character for me too.

Frances de la Tour - Miss Jones - Rising Damp
Don Warrington will always be his character as well in Rising Damp

Robin Askwith - Bottle Boys
Karl Howman - Brush Strokes (not EastEnders)

user1466795981 · 01/08/2016 19:10

Christopher Timothy - James Herriot/All Creatures Great and Small - similarly Carol Drinkwater and the late Lynda Bellingham.

Although Christopher Timothy plays a very funny comedy /slapstick character in an episode of 'Some Mothers Do Ave Em' from 1976 so predated 'All Creatures'.

Gosh I watch too much TV.
