Crap Films You Love Anyway

I'm sure this must have been done before but DS1 is being hard work and I fancied starting a lighthearted thread.

Inspired by the thread about films that make you ugly cry because someone mentioned A.I.

I know A.I. is generally recognised as being utterly crap but I love it. I cry and cry most of the way through but really do just love it!

So, what terrible films do you love? Or films not universally acknowledged as terrible but disapproved of on MN (for me that would be Love Actually)?

OP posts:

Leap Yes is on telly at the mo. What a load of cobblers but OMG Matthew Goode is so bloody gorgeous in it. I would shag him till I broke.

JingsAndCrivens · 15/05/2016 18:53

Jeepers In Hell is going on my lost of films to watch!

MrsJayy · 15/05/2016 19:01

It kinda is a crap film tom conti and his greek/scottish accent is really really iffy Grin

ARichVernacular · 15/05/2016 19:11

Mrsjayy Bring It On is great. Someone I know made out of the opening number, goes down a treat at 4am Grin

colouringinagain · 15/05/2016 19:23

jings I'll fight you for him Wink

Yes to the armageddon ones, plus clueless, alabama, in her shoes, and recently Jane austen book club!

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 15/05/2016 19:30

Maybe Tom Conti's accent is the weak link there, MrsJayy Grin Everyone at the time was howling at 'I wanta make fuck with you' and I was like 'meh' at that bit - I loved the rest though.

I love a crap disaster movie too - Dantes Peak (well, Pierce Brosnan....), Day After Tomorrow, maybe even 2012 Blush well, John Cusack...)

I have rewatched the Tom Cruise War of The Worlds too, a few times - and that's def a crap movie isn't it?

peg90 · 15/05/2016 19:32

Cocktail!

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 15/05/2016 19:37

A truly, truly crap movie, that everyone with Netflix can watch for the laffs, is "Left Behind.

Don't read anything about it....not a thing. Don't google, don't read the description. Just watch. Truly awful - I don't love it, but I love to laugh at it. Grin

CoodleMoodle · 15/05/2016 19:38

Love Mamma Mia. Colin Firth gets tied to a pole, surely not much else matters?!

And Love Actually, too. In fact, I will watch anything with Hugh Grant in. One of my favourite films is Two Weeks Notice, grammatical inconsistencies and all. Also Music & Lyrics is excellent. The only HG film I can't deal with is Notting Hill. Not especially keen on Four Weddings but it's alright. Bridget Jones' Diary (1 & 2!) however...

Also, Rat Race. It's incredibly stupid and fairly disliked but it makes me cry with laughter. It's my absolute favourite of all time, I can quote it endlessly! (And I do Grin)

lljkk · 15/05/2016 19:43

The Core, or any crap science film because you can spend the whole time picking apart the bad science but Core has some good witty writing, it dispenses with rubbish romance & I quite like several of the minor characters.

or Twilight films. Micky-take potential again.

millionsofpeaches · 15/05/2016 19:48

Romy and Michelle's high school reunion. It's strangely touching.

Hot tub time machine is fricking hilarious.

Legend was a staple of my childhood. Sexual awakening time!

myrtleWilson · 15/05/2016 19:51

Can't believe this thread is 69 something messages long and yet no vites yet for coyote Ugly?

ipswichwitch · 15/05/2016 20:39

The Warriors - that was pretty crap but I loved it! Camp gang members and all Grin

Sharknado - total shite, crap special effects, abysmal acting but I can't stop watching it. In fact, I love any crappy B movie with ridiculous monsters in.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 15/05/2016 20:41

Sharknado 2 is one of my no.1 crap movies to enjoy. Can't think why I didn't think of it before!

BlahBlahGah · 15/05/2016 20:50

I remember the Final Destination films as being pretty fun to watch despite being utterly shit. It's been years since Ive seen any though. They've probably aged awfully!

BitchAdministrator · 15/05/2016 20:53

I LOVE romy and Michelle's high school reunion!!!

BlackCelebration · 15/05/2016 20:54

Yes to soooo many of these. Wonderful and beautiful in there utterly entertaining crapness. One of my (hundreds) is Satisfaction - early Julia Roberts/Liam Neeson. Fab cast, young band of 4 girls and 1 guy spend the summer playing a club in LA?? trying to make it big and dealing with there own issues along the way. Just LOVE IT!

BitchAdministrator · 15/05/2016 20:55

Also final destination-I was in stitches at them in the cinema!

Zwellers · 15/05/2016 21:19

all those tv movies shown at Christmas on Christmas 24.

MayMiracle · 15/05/2016 21:37

I love 'Practical Magic' with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. It's so naff, it's ace.

wanderings · 16/05/2016 07:12

Spiceworld the Movie! Possibly the silliest crap on Earth but actually incredibly funny. Got to love it for sneaky Richard O'Brien and headlines such as "Spice Girls doubt whether Pope is catholic".

Victoria (as a mum): "Thank God for boarding school, I only see mine once a month."

Geri: "You know, we can't dance like that."
Mr Step: "Yes, I know, I've seen your videos!"

Stephen Fry (as a judge): "Melvin B, Emma, Melvin C, Victoria, Geri, you are sentenced to having your next record enter the charts at number 179 before dropping straight out the following week. May God have mercy on your lip gloss."

SandyMumsnet · 26/05/2016 15:25
