9 year old 'chick-flick' movies for my DD's sleepover?

My DD is about to turn 9. She is having a sleepover with 3 other female friends. We are doing nails, having pizza, and she wants to sit and watch 'romantic' films with her friends til the wee hours snuggled under duvets eating popcorn. (romantic is how she described it, I think she wants films about love and boys and best friends and probably pets. I am happy to skip over the love and boys bit, but open to ideas!

I have no idea what to get for them to watch, so suggestions are gratefully received.

pavlov nope not that I am aware of (although anything is possible) just remember being on a thread where for reason we deduced we were SW folks. may have been the old locals board where perhaps you talked about restaurants?

Dancergirl · 24/06/2015 18:21

Or you could take them out to the cinema to see Minions Smile

I think the new Annie is your safest bet! My dd loves it, as do I, and the songs are good too. No rudeness or swearing, just a lovely film with a happy ending.

New Annie is popular here. The DVD has a singalong section which wouldbe good for a sleepover.

pavlov your dh has great taste!

I saw it at a similar age to your dd and loved it!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/06/2015 21:36

Hi all,

With the kind permission of the OP, we are now going to punt this thread over to our rather excellent Films topic.

Thanks Flowers

I personally love Sister Act. It's funny, has some great songs and a great performance by Whoopi Goldberg.

I would also echo Mean Girls and Pretty in Pink :)

Branleuse · 26/06/2015 17:22

The new Annie that came out last year

PavlovtheCat · 26/06/2015 23:22

They have watched Dear Dumb Diary (all of them seen it a few times and clearly loved in/sang along to songs/had 'favourite' bits) and Zapped. Followed by a couple of episodes of My Little Pony.

Now attempting to get them to sleep...
