Damian Lewis is the favourite to play the next James Bond. What do you think?

I know most secret agents probably look like John Major but I do think the fictional ones at least should be suave and sophisticated. Damian Lewis looks as though he should be working for the council, in charge of assigning allotments or something equally as dangerous.

I just can’t imagine him arse kicking and seducing his way across the world in pursuit of the baddies. He looks as though he'd stop mid scrap to tell the villains that his bad hip was at him and could they please reschedule.

Are you a fan of the smug mouthed one?

God no not Damian Lewis! He's a good actor but the line between suave and slimy is wafer thin and he doesn't always fall on the right side.
I'd do - sorry - watch Sean Pertwee as Bond though.

Prob with Jason Isaacs is that it'd be Death Eaters Reunited with Fiennes. Before you know it, Helena BC would be nudging her way in.

I love Sean Pertwee. 51 though...talking of Seans, how about the Bean? I suspect he's knocking on a bit now too though.

Yeah, he's 56 Sad

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 16/06/2015 20:11

My friend has a huge crush on Lee Pace aka Thranduil from the Hobbit.

iklboo · 16/06/2015 20:13

Joseph Feinnes has two expressions

'I smell onions' (all the bad /sad emotions)

'I've farted in your cupboard' (all the happy / gleeful emotions)

Occasionally you get 'I smell farts in your onion cupboard' but that's when he's trying REALLY hard.

I wonder if Ralph thinks farty onion Joseph is a talented actor.

Tali then your friend is a woman of impeccable taste, Lee Pace is hotter than hot.

BitOfFun · 16/06/2015 20:30

I had to google re Pace. I concur on the hotness. He's American though- how's his Brit accent?

I had to google him to make sure he wasn't Pace of Hale & Pace fame.

He really oozes smug from every pore.

He's done a British accent in about 3 films including the Hobbit films, it's not bad but his own accent is very sexy. I don't think he could do it, aside from bring American, because he's an absolute giant, 6'5. Also, then everyone would know who he is and I like that he's a bit of a hidden gem!

Felix75 · 16/06/2015 20:37

I agree madame Kayvan Novak would look great in a tux.

Anyone else for Bertie Carvel? Or would he be best as a baddie? I'll try and get a pic.

RiverTam · 16/06/2015 20:39

Oh, I thought about Bertie, he'd certainly make a top notch British spy, not sure he's got the thuggishness though.

DuchessOfWeaseltown · 16/06/2015 20:39

Oh, God, Christian Bale for me (and not just as James Bond, I'm actually asking to have him FOR ME, please, if anyone can possibly arrange it.)

I know he has a reputation for awkwardness, to say the least, but GOD, he's attractive.

And if you're looking for the blend of menace and charm that I agree Bond needs to have, there's your man. Can't think of anyone else better on that front.

MitzyLeFrouf · 16/06/2015 20:42

Toby Jones would make a great alternative Bond.

RiverTam · 16/06/2015 20:43

Christian Bale is too big a star, traditionally they've not cast an actor that well known as Bond.

CordeliaFrost · 16/06/2015 20:46

Duchess - I know Christian Bale had a meltdown once, where he went on a vicious rant on-set, but wasn't that a one-off thing? My cousin works in the movie biz, and has worked on a film with CB, and she said he was great to work with.

RiverTam · 16/06/2015 20:53

I also don't think that it works Havibg sn actor who's been in another big franchise. It always felt s bit wrong having Hugo Weaving as Elrond in Lord of the Rings when he was also a main character in the Matrix.

SaulGood · 16/06/2015 20:53

Vincent Cassel needs to be a Bond villain.

Luckystar82 · 16/06/2015 20:54

No, no, no. Damian Lewis not right for Bond at all.

Would prefer Cillian Murphy. He was great as a good looking tuff guy in Peaky blinders.

vestandknickers · 16/06/2015 20:54

Nooo! Can't stand Damien Lewis. Have though he was a right tit ever since I found out his children are called Manon and Gulliver.

Idris Elba would be gorgeous or the wonderful Jason Isaacs.
