Damian Lewis is the favourite to play the next James Bond. What do you think?

I know most secret agents probably look like John Major but I do think the fictional ones at least should be suave and sophisticated. Damian Lewis looks as though he should be working for the council, in charge of assigning allotments or something equally as dangerous.

I just can’t imagine him arse kicking and seducing his way across the world in pursuit of the baddies. He looks as though he'd stop mid scrap to tell the villains that his bad hip was at him and could they please reschedule.

Oh yes, Vincent Cassel would make a brilliant baddie. He's so gorgeous and shruggy shouldered in Mesrine.

Have though he was a right tit ever since I found out his children are called Manon and Gulliver.

There is just a touch of Dalton about Jason Isaacs.

Though to be honest I want to keep Daniel Craig. I think he's the best, never been able to watch a Bond with out tutting and eye rolling.

Bond needs to be not particularly attractive but to have an attraction As another poster said he needs to be more than hairstyles and cocktails.

Cordelia - can't tell you how thrilled I am to have RL confirmation that Christian Bale is OK really... There was another incident where he had some huge altercation with his family, I'd always thought it had turned out that actually the family members were at fault, but I read something on MN a while ago about it actually being quite nasty and all CB himself... who knows the truth, I suppose...? I just think he's devastatingly attractive and seems a bit more interesting that just some pretty boy.

That said, yes, he's probably way too famous for Bond. So he will just ahve to be Bond only in my (filthy) imagination ;)

My choice would be the lovely Colin Salmon, although sadly I think he's a bit too old now. This pic is from an article about him being the next Bond (after Brosnan!)

Colin Salmon is very suave but he's done Strictly Come Dancing! that's killed off all his cool.

I agree that I wish DC would stay on a bit longer. I think he's a wonderful Bond - that mix of tough and seething emotion. The bit in Skyfall where he looks down at his old home and M says "So this was where you grew up?" and he just says "Mmmmm." I don't know why but I thought it was brilliant :o

Currently have huge, Christian Bale-sized crush on Kit Harrington from GoT too, but don't think he's quite butch enough...?
