Damian Lewis is the favourite to play the next James Bond. What do you think?

I know most secret agents probably look like John Major but I do think the fictional ones at least should be suave and sophisticated. Damian Lewis looks as though he should be working for the council, in charge of assigning allotments or something equally as dangerous.

I just can’t imagine him arse kicking and seducing his way across the world in pursuit of the baddies. He looks as though he'd stop mid scrap to tell the villains that his bad hip was at him and could they please reschedule.

Marc Warren would make an ace Bond villain, but Bond himself? Hmm, not sure.

I have to disagree about Marc Warren- he turned up in Season 3 of The Good Wife and was about as menacing as lettuce.

He's pretty chilling in Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. But I always think he's a bit weak.

Has Simon Baker had a mention yet? Was watching devil wears Pravda last night he's got the brooding element :)

Marc Warren went out with Abi Titmuss. Frankly I expect more from my Bonds.

My vote is for Jason Statham or else bring back Pierce Brosnan and can we please have Q Branch go back to making impossibly brilliant gadgets again? I miss the wacky gadgets

It's so personal though isn't it? Warren would never do Bond and most people wouldn't approve but I think he'd pull off some of the subtler facets of Bond really well. A lot of the favourite suggestions on here leave me cold.

I'm really not the person to ask though. My taste in men is frankly, ridiculous.

I don't think Bond is menacing either. I think he's slick, well trained and a bit fucking twisted. I've never found him attractive. I've found him worrying and fascinating. Not attractive though. He's a shit. A suave one, but a shit nonetheless.

Jason Isaacs?

Tell you who'd make a great veteran Bond. Mark Rylance. His voice

Jason Isaacs would have been wonderful, but like Clive Owen, he's just too old now to be starting a stint as Bond.

Hugh Dancy is too young and chiselled. Jason Isaacs is a good call (he's Jackson Brodie / Malfoy's dad, right?)

I adore Jason Isaacs, but he's 52 now, which is pushing it a bit.

Maybe they could swap Fiennes for Isaacs? I do love Ben Whishaw in it.
