Damian Lewis is the favourite to play the next James Bond. What do you think?

I know most secret agents probably look like John Major but I do think the fictional ones at least should be suave and sophisticated. Damian Lewis looks as though he should be working for the council, in charge of assigning allotments or something equally as dangerous.

I just can’t imagine him arse kicking and seducing his way across the world in pursuit of the baddies. He looks as though he'd stop mid scrap to tell the villains that his bad hip was at him and could they please reschedule.

Are you a fan of the smug mouthed one?

Tom Hardy as James Bond?

vienna1981 · 16/06/2015 16:07

I'm not familiar with any of these actors. Thirty-odd years ago Nigel Havers or even Peter Davison might have been worth a go.

TheoreticalOrder · 16/06/2015 16:08

Damian Lewis is repulsive. I heard him on the radio a few months ago and thought I'd give him a second chance. Utter self absorbed luvvie dick.

Yuk.

Muzzy. Sean Connery was largely bald throughout his Bond run. He wore a hairpiece.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 16/06/2015 16:09

Damn - yes she was. Some officious govt minister type. No doubt she'll turn up as the new head of the home office or similar instead. Yay!

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 16/06/2015 16:09

Mark Strong. Yes please.

I think Idris is too muscular for Bond.

RiverTam · 16/06/2015 16:09

Ugh, not Rupert! I ditched Spooks when Matthew McFadyen left. He might be good, he could do big and menacing.
What about Richard Armitage? Right age, British, can definitely do menacing, not a big name in the US.

TheoreticalOrder · 16/06/2015 16:09

Yeah RP-J does it for me.

TheoreticalOrder · 16/06/2015 16:11

James McAvoy too young?

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 16/06/2015 16:11

Rupert is too wet.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 16/06/2015 16:12

McAvoy too short and scrawny. Not imposing enough.

Clive Owen moons ago was a great shout.

TheoreticalOrder · 16/06/2015 16:13

Jamie Dornan?

BettyCatKitten · 16/06/2015 16:14

Nooooooo. looks like he works for the councilGrin

MitzyLeFrouf · 16/06/2015 16:14

James McAvoy is too weak and schoolboyish.

I know he's too old but Liam Neeson would have been a great Bond or Clive Owen.

MitzyLeFrouf · 16/06/2015 16:15

I notice Tom Hiddleston wearing a tux on the new Jaguar ads looking very Bond like. But all I can think when I see him is how tiny his head is. It's so distracting!

I've been googling and toying with Ewan McGregor, but I don't think he can get that menacing air.

I'd give him an audition and play Miss Moneypenny and take him on the desk before sending him on his way, though.

TheoreticalOrder · 16/06/2015 16:15

Gerard Butler?

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 16/06/2015 16:15

Jonathan Rhys Meyers would be good but recent spells in rehab would probably kill off his prospects.

Has Daniel Craig actually said he won't do another one?

Lweji · 16/06/2015 16:15

I agree with Liam, not convinced about Owen.

TheoreticalOrder · 16/06/2015 16:16

Yum.

LBOCS · 16/06/2015 16:18

Has no one seen Damien Lewis as Soames in the remake of The Forsythe Saga? He can definitely do brooding menace. Also, I love him.

I also love Rupert Penry-Jones. I could cope with him too. He was pipped as an outsider last time around but nothing came of it then either.

MitzyLeFrouf · 16/06/2015 16:18

Gerard Butler always seems a little bit...................dim.

Has anyone said Michael Fassbender?

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 16/06/2015 16:19

Butler couldn't act his way out of a paper bag
