going to see it this weekend - hope it's good.

Not really been on many dates as such to have best/worst.

tishist · 26/06/2015 02:51

I've read about it but haven't seen it...

aligiraffe · 26/06/2015 08:29

I've not seen the film yet. My best first date was with my Hubby, we went to the cinema & then to play pool & he was shocked when I beat him. I hadn't told him I used to play for a league & had won trophys!

I had a horrendous first date with a guy that was about 6 years older than me....i was only 16 and he look me to the races ( i wasnt even old enough to place a bet!) He introduced me to his family and to break the ice with his family i make a passing comment about a gentleman that was head towards us....head to toe in tweed....with those ruffled/puffy 3/4 length shooting type trousers. I turned to everyone and said " Look at that chap over there, what a plonker.....its the races not a victorian re-enactment. Turns out it was my dates dad!!! Needless to say.... i didnt hang around for long and we never had a second date!

me and my ex had been texting for a while before our first date, a friend had passed my number over and we had never actually met. Full of anticipation I arrived at the bus station to meet him and he was a good 6 inches shorter than me, wearing a jeans and a shirt which it turned out were still slightly damp as his washing machine had broken and he hadn't managed to get anything dry in time before meeting me. He asked me where I wanted to go but I didn't know so we ended up getting a taxi to the next city and going in a dodgy rock club where your feet stuck to the floor it was too loud to talk and yet that was an awesome first date and we were together for a few years and that rock club became a favourite haunt of mine until it closed down

Daph57 · 26/06/2015 13:09

First date was so long ago I have no memory of it

nanoobaku · 26/06/2015 14:16

my first date was my last date ,must have ticked the right boxes else wouldn't be with him today

1968, as a hard up newly qualified teacher teacher in desperate need of driving lessons (which I couldn't afford) a friend set me up with someone she knew to give me free lessons. As a first step we met and went to Skegness for the evening. Had a really juicy peach which I managed to dribble all down my front then later on some doughnuts (sugar everywhere) but at the end of the night we agreed to meet again as we had both enjoyed ourselves. 6 weeks later I had an engagement ring and the man who I have been lucky enough to be married to for the last 46 years. Had to wait until I'd had a few pay cheques before learning to drive though. By mutual agreement we thought him teaching me might be too stressful on us both!

jacqroberts68 · 26/06/2015 16:35

I haven't seen it. But boy I've been on some rotten first dates, I'm far too polite I think. One told me he wasn't keen on my lipstick in fact that was the first thing he said. Another bought an overnight bag...wth?

aussiegeckogirl · 26/06/2015 22:18

my first ever date was memorable as it was the first time I kissed a boy, it was quite traumatic and I am surprised it did not put me off for life as I was later to discover he was a very bad kisser, he was all teeth and it really was quit painful, lol!

Tonkatol · 26/06/2015 23:01

I haven't seen Man Up! yet. My most memorable first date was my first date with my husband of 20 years. We had met at his sister's wedding (she lived in the same block of flats as me) and had agreed to have coffee together whilst he was flat sitting. I was just going in to my flat one night and he cycled down the road. We stopped and chatted for a few minutes and he invited me up to have coffee with him - all going well. Then, the killer blow - he turned to me and said "By the way, what is your name?" Have never let him forget this!

beehummingbird · 26/06/2015 23:33

I haven't seen it yet, but it looks good.

GeorgeW78 · 26/06/2015 23:59

Worst date was in the local pub, it was a right dive!

libra101 · 08/07/2015 18:53

Thank you for choosing my post to win the Meerkat Movies competition prize.

It has arrived today.

The items in the hamper are absolutely fantastic, everything looks so delicious and inviting, my family are going to really enjoy sampling these treats.

The Pizza Express voucher will be great as we love going out for pizza.

We're really delighted and can't thank you enough.

Kind regards, thank you.
