Been to see Billy Graham in London. Been singing hymns all afternoon. Returned home on the train met a boy called Philip Poole had my first kiss - I really believed God had answered my prayers

Theimpossiblegirl · 13/06/2015 19:09

My most memorable blind date was a bit of a non-starter. He turned up in a Ford Capri and was wearing a shell suit so I hid. I'm sure he was lovely but just not what teen me was looking for.

CheeseEMouse · 13/06/2015 19:10

My oddest first date was when the man I met had baked chocolate brownies for me. Seemingly an innocuous thing to do. However he did so simply to set up the line to say when he presented them to me "do I get brownie points?".

It was just a little elaborate and a bit cringey. He was nice enough otherwise but not for me.

JoJoY · 13/06/2015 19:21

My first date was very embarrassing. We went to the cinema and afterwards he wanted to kiss me but my parents were waiting in the car to pick me up. I was 15 and mortified!!

Isis1981uk · 13/06/2015 19:25

The best first date was when a guy I was seeing flew me to Dublin for a fun weekend in the city.

janeyf1 · 13/06/2015 19:25

I'd watch any film with Simon Pegg in, and this didn't disappoint. A lovely feel good film for a wet Sunday afternoon and showcases London very well. I tend to be too nervous to enjoy first dates but they always seem better when looking back on them after they are over.

tiddles12 · 13/06/2015 20:26

My worst date was when I met my boyfriends parents for the first time. I was so nervous, I drank far too much, got very drunk, and ended up being sick all over their cream wool carpet.. It was red wine too! Looked like a blood bath.

Memorable first date was with a man I met through online dating, he took me to a lovely Italian restaurant...and halfway through the first course the waiter brought a couple to sit next to us - one of whom turned out to be my ex I'd dated three years ago Shock. That relationship hadn't ended well and I had barely seen ex in those three years, but our tables were so close together we were pretty much in earshot. He seemed to be on a first date too. Rather dampened the mood a bit!

dandanrawlings · 13/06/2015 20:42

I've only been on one first date, the issue was is that i didn't realise it was a date until my boyfriend turned round and asked if I realized I asked him out

safe to stay im still with him a year and a half later

justruth · 13/06/2015 21:19

I had met someone online who seemed nice, and i really wanted to meet up. Unfortunately for me I was fresh out of hospital having donated whole bone marrow. I couldn't walk far, but made it to the nearest pub to meet (wetherspoons), I was super anaemic so about falling asleep and yawning as we spoke. The food came out and despite specific instructions about allergies, her food was definitely contaminated as she got sick after.

Somehow, after all that, she still thought it worthwhile meeting for another date, and we are still together 5 and a half years later!

When I was 15, I met a boy (who was just 18) at an under 18s night at the only nightclub in town (classy!!!) He asked me out on a date, and we arranged to meet on the Saturday at the local shopping centre. He text me to ask if I could meet him in Thomas Cook as he was booking his first lads holiday with his mates! So I ended up sat in Thomas Cook for three hours while they tried to track down their missing mate and his passport to finish booking the holiday!!!
He then took me to the cinema in his battered old mini (I don't remember what we saw!) and when he was driving me home his car burst into flames! He had to call his mate (the missing one from the holiday booking) to come and pick me up to take me home, while he waited for his dad to come and sort his car out!!
I ended up going out with his mate for a while and oddly never spoke to him again....

On my first date with my hubby I was so excited and happy. We were walking down a hill from his house, the road was quite slippery as it had been raining day before. I was in such a good mood I had a sudden urge to skip along down the hill whilst humming quietly to myself, when all of a sudden I slipped on a drain cover on the pavement and landed on my bottom, I was wearing white trousers on that day too. I was so embarrassed for 10 mins I just sat there and refused to get up, it took my hubby that long to convince to get back up and reassure everything's alright. We can look. Back and laugh about this now, luckily he wasn't put off, 15 yrs later and we're still happily together with two beautiful girls now.

bigMo12 · 14/06/2015 07:17

Still waiting for my best date Confused - worst? So many to choose from - probably being encouraged to have a cocktail when I don't drink, then dropping my bag on the dancefloor and my new make up etc falling out and being unknowingly kicked everywhere by people dancing! JUST AWFUL

jodiecrossley1 · 14/06/2015 08:30

my worst first date was when he told me he didnt like girls who wore jeans ( I was) and that I looked fat in them!

libra101 · 14/06/2015 09:02

I rode on my 2 stroke moped to my first date. The flipping bike was always breaking down, and sure enough, it spluttered to a stop a short distance from where I was meeting my date.

Ready to ditch the moped in the nearest hedge, my date said he would have a look and see whether he could fix it. He spent the next hour fiddling with the motor, and ended up covered in oil!

I decided he was a keeper, and we've been married ever since.

sweir1 · 14/06/2015 09:37

Yes I have. I adore simon pegg

Claire605 · 14/06/2015 09:38

I went on a date with a guy that had been trying to ask me out for ages and then on the date all he would ask about was my best friend! I was honest with him and asked if he just wanted to get closer to her, he said no but then after 3 dates with me and asked her out so I think he lied! Anyway I was young and it didn't bother me!

Clairemike21 · 14/06/2015 10:46

Yes I've seen it, enjoyed

sweetsomethings · 14/06/2015 11:30

Not seen it yet but i want too. My first date with my Husband was to the cinema to see Toystory

alsproject · 14/06/2015 12:37

I tried to impress someone by trying to use chopsticks and ended up flinging food at my date

sleach · 14/06/2015 13:17

led a very boring life and can never win anything with your site so do not know why i should bother

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 14/06/2015 15:15

Worst date was probably the one where I tripped over as I got out of the car. It was on a slope, so I slid nicely down the hill, cutting and scraping my legs horrendously, tearing my short dress, and covering me in mud. I did my best at cleaning myself up with the one tissue I had on me (you can tell it was pre-dcs), I then promptly burst into tears and added streaky mascara to the look.

Not one to give in easily, I stopped feeling sorry for myself and marched on to the pub, to meet my date (who was a friend of a friend). He was very lovely and understanding, and we had a quick drink before heading off to walk to the cinema. On the way, trying not to limp, and in quite a lot of pain, I turned to him to say something extremely witty, hadn't really been concentrating, and somehow (I'm still not sure how), I walked into a sodding lamp post.

I turned my head just in time to catch myself full on the nose and fell straight over backwards.

It hurt. A lot. My nose is not the smallest at the best of times. I couldn't speak, my eyes were streaming. My date was looking at me horrified, clearly terrified of what I would do next, and I just sat there.

He helped me up, we got some ice at the cinema and I sat through the film holding ice cubes to my face to try to bring down the swelling.

Funnily enough, we didn't go out again, I think it would have finished me off :o

shivbrown · 14/06/2015 16:05

My most awkward first date was a meal out with a guy i really liked his brother and his girlfriend so like a couples date, anyway was very awkward and me and the brother had once had a one night stand very awkward and i never saw either of them again!

lhlee62 · 14/06/2015 16:37

I haven't seen the film, but my worst date ever was when I was 19. He was into martial arts in a big way and assumed because I was Chinese I shared his love. He went on and on and on for ages boring me to death, needless to say I did not go out with him again!!

kayleigh39 · 14/06/2015 18:35

So, I met a guy online and arranged a date. It took me hours to get ready. Should I go in a dress or would it look too tarty? Well that worry, was the least of my worried! When I arrived I approached the guy at the bar, he turned and looked at me puzzled. I said "you're here to meet Kayleigh" and he said "oh, who are you, her mother?" I nearly died and left I a hurry!
