Best date-we went for a picnic lunch at the beach. Very simple, but lovely.
Worst date-he spent the whole date bragging about his car. Sooooo boring!

keshimonster · 24/06/2015 10:07

I havent seen it yet.

I only ever had one first date...I bought him a pineapple (I was a very random), he bought me coffee, and a year and a half later we got married :) ... that was just over 11 years ago, just had our 10th anniversary

HelenPlant · 24/06/2015 14:42

I went on a first date once that only last 45 minutes before the man got up and announced that he had to leave to go and buy a shirt for a wedding he was taking part in the next day. I laughed in his face when he told me that obvious lie.

jennie1984j · 24/06/2015 15:59

My fist date with my partner was to a safari park. It was a really good date, apart from when the monkeys ripped off his windscreen wipers!

luckydan5 · 24/06/2015 16:49

I took a girl out for dinner as we walked in the restaurant she slipped cracked her head and we spent the rest of the date in a&e . The second date went much better as I brought a first aid kit with me as a joke

cluckyhen · 24/06/2015 21:01

I haven't seen it - but my first (and only) real date was a Blind Date. He was very cute but badly dressed - and we were married 13 months to the day we met! Lots of up and downs, 2 kids, 1 dog, 2 rabbits, umpteen fish, 5 cats and 10 house moves later (Forces) we are still going strong!

FrenchieMum2Be · 24/06/2015 22:10

I haven't seen Man Up. My worst first date was a blind date where the guy turned up at the bar late, saw me and made up an excuse and left pretty quick... It put a dent in my confidence for a while!

Sunflowersmiling · 24/06/2015 22:42

My most memorable first date, there have been a few... however the one that I will never forget and hang my head in shame, was about 20 years ago. I thought I would try the singles ads - oh back in the day before the internet, they were listed in the newspaper! So I arranged to meet this guy, who I knew NOTHING about, and we went for a drink in town. He spent most of the evening talking obsessively about his ex, and how I looked like her, how I shared her star sign, how I drank the same drink as her. It became apparently very quickly that I needed an exit, but I just didn't have the guts to tell the poor bloke. So, in my shame, I excused myself to the ladies, hoping for a window to climb out of. No such luck. I didnt know what to do, so I sat in there for an hour. Thats a very long time to sit in the ladies. Eventually I thought he must have twigged and left, and as no one had been in concerned about his missing date. I then quietly tried to leave the building, forced to walk back past our table, and yup, there he was. Sitting looking perplexed he simply asked if I would like another drink. I couldnt believe it, i was in shock - so I ran. I ran as fast as I could and never looked back.

Two weeks later, I had just met this great guy and we arranged a first date. We were meeting at a flotation centre. Imagine my absolute horror when we walked through the door holding hands and was greeted by none other than the man I had run from.

angiehoggett · 24/06/2015 22:53

the worst date was cringeworthy spent trying to get away from the guy, I just didn't find him attractive and I was very young so it was my first date. I actually went home pretty upset because I was so worried about hurting his feelings!

grannybiker · 25/06/2015 09:44

Crikey- this was a long time ago... have a few tales to tell, but the one that stands out was the blind date I wasn't expecting to have a beard. When he dived in for a goodnight kiss it was just too weird for my still-teenaged years!

kristanybryn · 25/06/2015 14:04

On my first date I took my yorkshire terrier (called Rambo) along with me for support.
At the end of the date I sensed he was going to kiss me (I didn't want this to happen as I was very shy), so I grabbed my dog and let him kiss my face.
As you can imagine my first date backed off very quickly - never to be seen again!
We were both 11 years old : )

CHubbs85 · 25/06/2015 16:38

My worst first date involved a trip to a coffee shop for stilted conversation then off to Game for him buy a Xbox, then Next to watch him buy a wallet.... Was very weird and I was so bored. In the end I pretended I'd left my dog in the car and had to get back to him!

alison991 · 25/06/2015 17:48

Not seen it yet. Worst date was to a party in the country, I ended up with a sprained ankle as it was so dark walking to the house

NelAllan · 25/06/2015 18:01

My worst date ever was with a guy very obviously on the rebound who went on and on about his ex and how he was feeling so low since she dumped him. He actually began to cry. I offered him a tissue and made my excuses.

Flossiecrossie · 25/06/2015 19:07

I was on a first date at an local Italian restaurant. My date was clearly nervous, although I tried my best to put him at ease. During the meal he left the table and on his return he misjudged his seat and fell to the floor puling the table cloth and contents of the table to the floor. I did my best to stife and seemed to get away with. I'm just grateful we weren't eating a curry & drinking red wine. I'm happy to say nearly 8 years my clumsy date is now clumsy husband, so the date obviously didn't turn out to be that much of a disaster.

lucyrobinson · 25/06/2015 21:37

I haven't seen it. My first date was lunch at the pub and a walk through the woods. Must have been good as we have been together nearly 10 years. x

eleanor73 · 25/06/2015 21:55

My worst first date was with this guy who was really boring and just talked about himself and his recruitment business for ages. We went for a few drinks after and he was being a bit 'couple-y' so I thought I better be honest and tell him that I felt we would be better as friends and that I didn't want a relationship with him. He then burst into hysterical tears and cried for about half an hour!

piggypoo · 25/06/2015 22:02

The most memorable date was with my other half, he'd had a bit too much to drink, we decided to get him some air and sat by the side of a fountain, we were chatting when all of a sudden, he fell backwards into the water, surfaced, threw up and I had to take him back to mine to dry off. 17 years later, we're still together!

Torialou78 · 25/06/2015 22:23

My First date was awful, they took me to MacDonalds nowhere else and did not even offer to pay. It was a friends boyfriends mate who had asked if I would go out with him, never went out without knowing someone since ha ha

JWalker23 · 25/06/2015 22:29

I have not seen it yet but looks great :)

fluffyblueberry · 25/06/2015 22:47

I haven't seen it - no - but I will!
The best first date would have been with my now husband.
We just didn't stop talking & laughing, there was just a very strong instant connection. So much so, we didn't leave each others side from then on for several months - it was a whirlwind romance! (We've been together 14 years this year!) x

srobbo71 · 25/06/2015 22:51

Best first date was with my now hubby, we went to see a rubbish film, got lost on the way home but we both knew by the end of it hat we were meant to be together

bc1616 · 25/06/2015 23:04

My first date was with a guy who was shorter than me and I had nagged my parents so long for a pair of high heels which they had just bought me...I never wore them because of the guy I was dating

GatoradeMeBitch · 25/06/2015 23:20

Worst date - The supermarket security guard I got set up with. He drove me 75 miles to the city he lived in, and when I said we'd be getting back very late replied 'Oh, I'm not taking you back tonight.' Being 18 and always the nice agreeable girl, I didn't really know how to object. So we saw a film, had dinner, and went to sleep in his flat sharing a bed. (I'm as sure as I can be that nothing happened.) I called my DF to let him know where I was, hoping he'd say that he would come out and get me but only got a disapproving 'oh'. It was so awkward and tense that I didn't even feel I could ask him where his toilet was, and in desperation eventually had to pee in the bath... I was relieved (no pun intended) to make it home in one piece!

itsali · 25/06/2015 23:23

When I was about eighteen, the chap I was meeting turned up late and said it was because he and his friend had been hijacked on their way home by a couple of men who had threatened them and he had been at the police station making a statement. It actually turned out to be true, lol.
