I see Hope and Glory has been mentioned a couple of times; for me it's the pinnacle of British Film. I also love The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and Cold Comfort Farm

Don't fall for The Descent 2 though - it's just not as good. The Descent is British and an all female lead cast.

Hobbit, he's not fussy really.

Not rom-com or period drama. or animations. Wouldn't come and watch Paddington with me Sad

Other than that horror, sci-fi, comedy, drama, blood & guts & gore, football related. He'll give anything a go usually.

msrisotto · 29/01/2015 22:31

Great thread op, you should get it moved to the film section so it doesn't disappear.

If you can find it, Invasion Quartet is brilliant. It's a parody of The Guns of Navarone starring Spike Milligan and John Lewis Mesurier, amongst others.

SteamTrainsRealAleandOpenFires · 29/01/2015 22:56

Ealing Comedies

JaceyBee · 29/01/2015 22:58

It's got an american director and lead but An American Werewolf in London is set in Britain (funnily enough!) and is a great film.

JRShotMe · 29/01/2015 22:58

They've probably already been suggested but I love both Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. Wasn't as keen on World's End though.

28 Days Later/28 Weeks Later or The Descent if he likes blood and gore. Dog Soldiers is hilariously funny.
