Peter Greenaway is British, of course. So:

Draughtman's Contract
Drowning By Numbers
The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover
Prospero's Books
The Pillow Book (ruined by Ewan MacGregor being awfulShock)

Faez · 30/01/2015 19:07

Keeping Mum (2005)

mummybare · 30/01/2015 19:09

My husband liked Wild Bill and Attack the Block - both British comedies.

(I actually quite liked them too, although they're not my usual type of film.)

sergeantmajor · 30/01/2015 19:30

A Matter of Life and Death.

It's my favourite film and terribly British.

Cockbollocks · 30/01/2015 19:41

I really want to watch 'Filth', not sure if its any good but I love James Mcavoy.

Cockbollocks · 30/01/2015 19:44

I'm looking forward to watching 'Pride' too, don't think its out on Netflix or DVD yet though!! Unhelpful

cedricsneer · 30/01/2015 19:45

Sorry if these have been done -
16 years of alcohol
Eden lake
Dear frankie
Sweet 16

Thehoardernextdoor · 30/01/2015 19:45

Has anyone recommended Sightseers yet? You can't get much more British than Crich Tram Museum

cedricsneer · 30/01/2015 19:47

Oh yes to dead mans shoes and the wicker man.

OverAndAbove · 30/01/2015 19:48

Ooh and one that I think hasn't been mentioned yet:

Chariots of Fire

jennybluetree · 30/01/2015 19:55

Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz - good comedies. Starred Up is a recent good prison drama.

BOFster · 30/01/2015 20:03

Shifty. Brush urban thriller.

BOFster · 30/01/2015 20:04

Tyrannosaur. It's a hard watch, but definitely very good. Peter Mullan and Olivia Colman.

elQuintoConyo · 30/01/2015 20:34

QUADROPHENIA

Sorry for shouting!

And, technically, no, Rebecca isn't British, but all the accents are so it's good enough for me Grin

BagelwithButter · 30/01/2015 20:36

Oh YES to The Draughtsman's Contract. Such an amazing film, loved it so much and haven't seen for years.

And YY to Chariots of Fire. So British and lovely.

Is Sightseers the one where they go on killing spree around Britain? I wonder if it's on Netflix

SconeRhymesWithGone · 30/01/2015 20:37

The Angel's Share

BOFster · 30/01/2015 20:39

I believe the rule of thumb as to whether a film is on UK Netfilx is "Do I really want to see it?" If the answer is yes, then it probably isn't Grin.

TroubleAttMill · 30/01/2015 20:41

Another Simon Pegg/Nick Frost one is 'Paul'. Set in UFO-ey Nevada so not exactly British...but really funny.

Also Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels-anyone mentioned that yet? How about that and Snatch as a double feature, OP?

beachyhead · 30/01/2015 20:48

The Tall Guy. - Jeff Goldblum, Emma Thompson, music by Madness... Very underrated film including an excellent love scene with Emma Thompson getting toast stuck on her bare bottom. Smile

Alya81 · 30/01/2015 20:51

Any Shane Meadows, but particularly A Room for Romeo Brass

CrazyTights · 30/01/2015 21:09

YY to Local Hero (been in that phone box!) and Chariots of Fire.

Last Orders. Was on TV a couple of weeks ago. Amazing cast - Michael Caine, Ray Winstone, Helen Mirren, Tom Courtenay, David Hemmings, Bob Hoskins. Loved it.
