Is the trans movement trending out?

Yatzydog · 25/01/2025 17:03

Reading another thread prompted this. As a teacher, I have noticed that there are no trans kids this year. I teach in a middle school in europe: 3 years corresponding to years 8 - 10 (!). As the last academic year ended, the last trans kids left the school. No new ones coming through the school.

Has it trended out amongst the kids, leaving the older teenagers / twenty somethings? Then in 20 years' time only the hardcore, like seeing an 60-year old punk?

Shame. Those poor blokes will have to prance about in private now with their willies encased in leather and their buttocks hanging out.

Yeah, 2025! Get those gays back in their box. Fuck me.

If you think that is what being gay is about and that is what the Gay Liberation Front (precursor to Gay and Lesbian marches) fought for, you have a very porn-addled and disturbing view of what being gay is about. Gay men themselves will be the first to tell you that they did not fight for this.

TooBigForMyBoots · 06/02/2025 12:56

Yes I think it is @Yatzydog.
Thank fuck.

UnbeatenMum · 06/02/2025 13:16

My teens still seem quite bought in. Lots of NB friends. They're both ND so it probably makes sense. I'm not sure they know anyone who actually wants to transition though.

ThePolarBearWhoLostHisCrown · 06/02/2025 15:35

I note that a number of my lesbian friends have rebranded themselves as queer. They are openly TWAW although none of them are actually dating a TW.

How old are you?
The only people I know who describe themselves as queer are either bi or NB.

I'd have no particular issues with this. We're all NB basically - because gender is bullshit. If they're not seeking to mess with their bodies in any way, does any of it matter?

Supersimkin7 · 06/02/2025 15:56

Was it only ever a fashion in some circles?

Most girls at my DN’s East End school
are Muslim and they don’t have any truck with it. There’s been no transing teens, unlike at the huge local comp where changing back has already happened.

ThePolarBearWhoLostHisCrown · 06/02/2025 16:15

We are all in our 50s.

Enough4me · 06/02/2025 23:16

Saying I'm "nonBi" or "I'm queer" now seems to be a way to say "I'm quirky" and doesn't seem to link directly to sexuality or the made up concept gender.
It used to be "I'm crazy" as in, not dull and involved dyeing hair green or purple and wearing nose rings.

I think it matters because I don’t want children (or adults) to have to declare they are “non-binary” just because they don’t adhere to sex stereotypes. This non-adherence is and should be available to everyone.

Also some NB people insist that they are neither male nor female. Which is clearly nonsense. They get upset when people say it’s nonsense and we don’t need more fragile, detached from reality, people like that in the world.

So yeah, I think ‘non-binary’ needs to go as much as ‘trans’ needs to go.

Waitingfordoggo · 07/02/2025 07:57

@LostittoBostik I agree that pretty much everyone is NB- in terms of our personalities/preferences/clothing preferences etc.

But the problem is that some of the youngsters who choose this 'identity' are going on to have surgery- and funnily enough it mostly seems to be young women having their breasts removed. The male NBs don't seem to need surgery. 🤔

Waitingfordoggo · 07/02/2025 08:08

I saw a Mermaids post on FB yesterday about a fundraising event. The post was a few days old and had just over 100 likes, and about 8 comments. That is pretty low engagement I’d say. Maybe FB likes don’t tell us much, but I feel sure it would have been a lot more a few years ago.

Well, gender is bullshit, but when someone says they’re non-binary they’re reinforcing the bullshit because that still plays into the concept of gender.

👆This

If someone says they're NB, they're effectively declaring a belief in the validity of regressive stereotypes of what it means to be a woman or to be a man.

They imply that those stereotypes are the correct way to define what it is to be a man or to be a woman but because they are special, they don't fit those stereotypes.

Whereas the feminist position is to say that the stereotypes are bullshit and that the only requirement to be a woman is to be an adult human female and the only requirement to be a man is to be an adult human male.

AuthenticVoice · 08/02/2025 11:22

I firmly believe it's trending out.

Now that Trump has changed legislation in the USA.

In UK the clinic at the Tavistock has long since been shamed and shut down. The big corporate money sitting behind this ludicrous ideology will be pulled out. There'll be more successful law suits. Plus the detransition movement has shown us clearly how it's played out for so many people - it's not ending well.

There's no formal follow up studies but the level of suicides and bodily harm is phenomenal IMO. At street level, people know this.

Too late for my family. My daughter is now a "boy" and living with her affirming, abusive dad. It all started when she was 11 and she is 16 this year. Haven't seen my baby girl in 2 whole years.

Transed in secret at school.

I am so sorry. My child is 20 and thankfully still in contact with us but it is so, so hard. Her dad is a twunt as well.

LovelySunnyDayToday · 08/02/2025 22:41

My kids told me about 2 children in their school today who think they are cats / dogs.
I asked them what they thought about that, they said they think they are weird.
I asked them if they thought these kids got the idea from the internet. They said yes probably.
Strange world.

i recognise this thread is a couple of weeks old but hope some of you are still following. I just wanted to make parents aware that the teachers union in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is very much active in pushing forward a trans agenda - for want of a better term - there is a hardcore of more than 1000 LGBT teacher activists across the country. They are pushing trans-friendly union policies at conference, that pass (because ‘being kind’) and are then disseminated to the thousands of teacher members. When you want a union to support you legally in the workplace your representation might depend on you supporting these policies. Please do what you can to keep communication open with schools and your children. Ask if they do staff training with organisations such as Allsorts or if they’re working towards any flagship awards. Check out acronyms for school clubs your kids may attend - they might have more than one meaning.

TheaBrandt1 · 15/02/2025 06:49

My super cool teen eye rolls about it now. A few years ago she was a passionate “be kind” er. It’s seen as something done by annoying attention seeking teens. Gen pop aren’t interested any more.

TheaBrandt1 · 15/02/2025 07:02

That said Una the way teens are surely that’s the death knell?! If teachers are pushing something most self respecting teens then scoff and do the opposite!

Oblomov25 · 15/02/2025 07:19

Hope so!

Sskka · 15/02/2025 07:35

@TheaBrandt1 This checks out with my experience, but it manifests in different ways. In my 15yo’s cohort the girls are still into it but the boys are now full-on reactionary so far as I can tell. For my 10yo it’s only the too-online girls who like it, everyone else hates all the woke stuff (though they still squeal when a fictional character turns out to be gay or whatever, so the rainbow stuff does still seem to be a hack into female support at some level).

The ‘attention-seeker’ line is one I hear from them too, and the cat thing must be a myth as we hear the same round our way too.

What I enjoyed was hearing about a discussion in 10yo’s class where the kids were openly saying things like “I identify as a Ford Focus” – ie clearly lines fed to them by derisive parents. It’s funny to imagine the bewilderment of their well-meaning ‘be kind’ teachers, who’ve reached working age believing things only ever get more progressive, but are now encountering what must to them look like a generation of mini Nazis.

oh I hope so, I actively encourage critical thinking and dissent.

TheaBrandt1 · 15/02/2025 07:59

Last year this came up in PSHE. Dd (state girls school) spoke up and said people can do whet they want but girls need single sex spaces. ALL the class agreed. Middle aged female teacher got weepy and said “I’m not allowed to say that but I’m so proud of you girls”. My work is done!

I don't think it is trending out, or ever will. In my country, 10% of trans people die from murder and 10% die from suicide. Ensuring that their needs are met is a human rights issue. Thankfully, where I am from, the awareness of trans identity is becoming more normalized. It always helps to become more educated on the issue, like taking a LGBT class at one's local college.

Which country is this ?
