I've tried .

I've really tried to engage in the fwr board but it's so hostile.

I really wanted to explore more but I just feel attacked whenever I speak my truth.

I don't know what came of the Caroline what's her name thread because I hid it . I really wanted to try and understand what was happening there and try to offer insight and engage from the perspective of a woman in the police .

But I just can't get through the "your all bastards , Wayne cousins, watching me , agenda , trans rights , you're all bastards cos some forces are talking bollocks stuff .

I agree with most of everything but when I'm trying to engage and proffer my support all I get is you behaved badly because you said police should patrol at nigth and have the audacity to LOOK at a woman out at night . The. WC gets brought up like the majority of the police force men and women are some physical threat - when he was the absolute definition of exception not the rule.

I get insulted time and time again and I still tried . It's just turned me off the whole topic because no one will actually talk rationally with me .
And if I ask why all I will get is sulky replied about how police are all shit with some anti feminist agenda when I work in a drive that has never ever had that agenda - no stonewall training , no lanyards with rainbows or cars with stickers - yet when I say this is not my experience while respecting it may be yours - I get told I must be a man .

Last night I posted in a thread and asked what is the issue with police patrolling at night and looking at people who are out ?

Result : your behaved badly . You said it wasn't an issue . You said that's what police are meant to do . (It is actually! Police patrol at night because that's when most crime happens like burglary and car crime )

The reason I'm posting before anyone says something really witty like do t let the door hit your arse on the way out
Is because I wanted to engage and be included in chats that involve women . No
Matter what their job is . I have no trans agenda - I have always said and always believed you are born with either an x or a Y chromosome and that determines your skeletal frame , and your sex . And that cannot be changed.
I'm horrified by the tales here of thought police and wrong think .
I'm in that job and I could actually raise this . The more I learned the more ridiculous it seemed . But I can't even talk about it without jibes or civility.
The fwr board is really really hostile . As a woman I feel unwelcome to even discuss anything .
This will cause more offence and a round of fuck offs. But I really wanted to learn what the issues were around fwr and policing . Its like an exclusive club that no one can gain entry to unless you absolutely comply with the narrative- and I don't even know what it is !
I really wanted to try and understand and learn and possibly - possibly try to raise some of the issues from within .

Anyway - please please don't pile on - this is constructive criticism.
And I won't engage . I've hidden the fwr board now because I don't feel I can be included or add anything of value .

Please don't prove me right by being vindictive or abusive .

I just wanted to learn , help , engage.

I really wish you luck in what ever you hope to achieve .

OP, have you been following all the legal challenges, court cases, tribunals that have been going on? In each and every case the woman/victim has had to raise funds by asking for donations from other women. The men persecuting the women get lots of money from dubious organisations. It is an absolute uphill battle.

Seen the Harry millar case - not seen any others.

Surely they should be neutral?

On women's rights? There shouldn't be a neutral, change that to being neutral about paedophiles? Or racism?

stillvicarinatutu · 09/10/2022 04:06

Funny you should say about men demanding women search them .....

Best practice is always men search men women search women .

That's best practice.

However I have had to do the cursory Pat down in custody of a man .

And I have experienced this as clearly they get slightly turned on by that - searched a man with a semi on before now .

I did manage to ignore it but after that I asked for a male officer and if one was y available I asked for a male detention officer to conduct the search . It is rather unnerving patting a bloke down with a hard on .

I wouldn't do that again . I was pretty young in service.

I also look after the women in my life . It's a sisterhood. I'm best mates with my neighbour who used to be a prison officer and now works with addicts - she's a lot like me . I cook for us every night. I take a portion of my Jamie Oliver round WinkWe look after each other . I think that's really important- we're both single and we support each other . I feel very strongly that we need to look after each other because no one else will ! I will lurk a bit more on the fwr boards . It is educational, just slightly scary !

OP posts:
sashh · 09/10/2022 04:35

I can imagine you not wanting to do a pat down, and I would not be happy with a male doing that.

I often use a wheelchair at airports so I always get a pat down, for those who haven't it is more intimate than you see on TV, eg they run their fingers across the bottom of your bra.

It's the same in other countries I have visited so seems fairly standard.

Vicar it has been really heartening to see you, er, 'come round' isn't the right term but you are listening now.

stillvicarinatutu · 09/10/2022 04:44

Yep - I'm listening.

I think that because I've been quite sheltered from some of the reality in other forces I've found it a little hard to get my head around some of the issues . It's actually made me appreciate how good my force is in terms of these issues - a woman chief constable who's sent forcewirde emails on what being a woman in this job means , how she was dismissed when she was tutoring a male officer despite being the more experienced when people automatically looked to her male colleague , and she's very in tune with the feelings of women since WC . I'm really lucky . We have no affiliation with stonewall and we don't have any of that shot associated with it - we do kind of stick to the letter of the law in terms of rights. It's made me really really glad but also made me really think about what's happening in other forces . I have quite a bit of experience now so I'm very used to standing up and saying "no" when something isn't t right. But what I've heard here does bother me . It truly does . When the police are politicised then we are all in trouble . One of our greatest saving graces in this country is that we police by consent and we are neutral. If that changes it's a slippery slope indeed.

OP posts:
stillvicarinatutu · 09/10/2022 04:55

And yep
A search - even a cursory one is quite Intrusive. We are taught to do quadrant searches - but yes it means feeling around the Bra and right up the leg to where people might secrete something- it's not easy to do or have done to you . Even worse are strip searches. We had it done to us in training so we know what it feels like. It's something I've always found difficult yet necessary- you found out how necessary it is when you E done a search and then find a detainee smoking a fag in the cell cos they've hidden a lighter and some fags Confused. Some people also secrete weapons like razor blades in their mouth one person I know actually had a pouch cut into their cheek where they hid blades it was to self harm but - it's difficult to comprehend when you are a perfectly law abiding woman or man .

OP posts:
stillvicarinatutu · 09/10/2022 04:57

But men should search men , women should search women if that's a necessity.

OP posts:
stillvicarinatutu · 09/10/2022 05:07

And thank you. I really mean that . I was feeling totally dejected after trying to engage in other threads . I am really really happy to listen, and post just as a single woman , but maybe with a unique insight if it ever helps .

I really dont expect deference because of my work - if anything I think admitting my job has made it more difficult to post. But it gives me an insight into both sides of this fine line ....as a woman , a single older woman standing absolutely on my own two feet , and being a woman in a very traditionally male dominated job . I hope to continue to chat and learn .

@stillvicarinatutu I'd trawl through some if Glinner's posts over the least few years on his substack. You'll get a lot of general info about why these boards exist and also the number of police visits various people have had instigated by others.

I tagged you in a Mermaids post about how we can get it escalated to a criminal investigation (there are some really sinister Paedo links coming up) but no response (bearing in mind Mermaids have literally trained all the local forces) but no response.

it’s fine to just name change and engage on mumsnet like any other member, but if you post about your job you are going to get comments that relate to your job, and we feel let down when we are dismissed or completely ignored.

Just be a normal mumsnetter, most of us don’t mention our jobs. You can still use mumsnet to canvas police opinions, but you won’t have the personal pressure of hundreds of women hoping you can actually DO something about it.

@stillvicarinatutu "And I have experienced this as clearly they get slightly turned on by that - searched a man with a semi on before now" yes half of my uggh (and it is strong) - at the airport and police search direction of travel is that under current ideological demands any man can at any time demand that the woman police officer / security guard performs his search.

The only way to not be compelled to participate in his fetish is not to do that job making it harder and harder to recruit women to do these jobs which it is sooo vitally important that women do too. (or call bullshit and set boundaries) For me the choice is clear.

You can't learn or read about what has been going on within the police if you hide the board that contains all the information.

And Mermaids have done 'training' for some Police Forces and are 'supported' by some Police Forces @stillvicarinatutu .

I believe PC Gul of Humberside had been on one of their training sessions which led him to tell Harry Miller that sometimes a foetus with a lady brain grows the wrong body parts.

These people have been TRAINING THE POLICE! 😱

Hi @stillvicarinatutu could I dm you in confidence with a question about police investigations? Not GC related!

Thank you for reflecting and coming back to FWR. I think you are a really valuable ally of women.
