Why are there petitions to take Amber Heard down?

Why are people not accepting that they are mutually abusive? Why is everyone acting like Johnny Depp is an innocent victim? Why is it that when Chris Brown BATTERED Rihanna the world forgot real quick and he went back to his world of glamour, babes, money and success?

Why is society soooooo hard on women? Like when a mother goes on holiday it’s ‘oh she left the kids, why isn’t she with the kids?’ Or ‘oh he cheated, probably because she’s such a handful or doesn’t take care of herself anymore,’ or ‘why is she always working, she has kids to take care of.’

Society is tooooo damn hard on women. I’m not by any means claiming that she is innocent, but over two million people have petitioned to have her removed from her movie, people are boycotting the woman, and quite literally acting like Johnny Depp is an absolute saint.

Mutual abuse is real, it is quite possible for two people to both be as bad as eachother :-/

But he’s ‘sorry now’ although this crap RARELY happens once.

Do you think Amber Heard will receive anything other than a huge backlash if she tries to ‘apologise’ for her wrongdoings? People will neverrrr let her love this down

Burn the witch mentality. She hasn't even said anything yet and the mob want to string her up
Depp is hamming it up for the cameras

She's ruined his career, but she's just as bad (if not worse) than him. She should be taken out of her upcoming movies as well.

And nobody forgot about Chris Brown at all. He's not been able to escape it ever, despite being about 19 at the time. Maybe bring up Penn, Gibson, Cage etc....rather than take the lazy Chris Brown route OP.

He did that by morphing into a weird Mickey Rourke lookalike.

I think they are both very very damaged people who shouldn't be playing this out in Court, they should both be in proper therapy.

Johnny Depp has already been dropped from movies though (Pirates of the Caribbean, Fantastic Beasts etc) so if both were mutually abusive as you say, why shouldn’t Amber Heard now be dropped from Aquaman? Both are abusive therefore both should lose work, surely? I don’t understand why calling for Heard to experience the same consequences as Depp (in terms of bring dropped from movie franchises) is society being too damn hard on women, especially when you actually agree they were mutually abusive.

I personally won’t be seeing any movies with either of them in it.

She is actually a very bad example to use to argue double standards around this issue.

Depp lost gigs because he failed to prove he wasn't abusive.

Heard has been arrested for domestic abuse. But she is still working, and actually got an op-ed on domestic abuse published in WaPo.

I mean society, people have completely taken his side 100%.
The movie directors may have dropped him off of films, however, the people are very very much on his side.

Unless I’ve missed the petition signed by 2 million people to have him kicked out of Hollywood also?

Do you agree that as a whole, society holds women much more accountable? I’m not talking about the legal system I’m talking about the social system within communities? How we are as mother’s, wives, how we dress etc

I am not saying by any stretch of the imagine that she is innocent, I’m saying that the global opinion on the case is almost entirely in favour of Johnny Depp. We are not acknowledging them as equally twisted and in need of therapy.

The amount of ‘poor Johnny, what a brave man he is for living through all of that’ I’ve read is making me feel sick to my stomach. They both need help, I agree entirely with the previous post that this is not a matter for the courts, it’s a matter for a psychologist!

The way she's being spoken about by a lot of people is appalling.

Depp is playing the mild mannered abuse victim successfully, which is completely at odds with evidence of his attitude towards Amber/women in general. He is a violent mysoginistic abuser. Amber is not a perfect victim, as it seem she is also abusive and in desperate need of vast amounts of therapy, but I beleive her testimony of the sexual violence inflicted upon her.

People also seem to be forgetting that it is Johnny dragged this all through the courts, and is the second time now he's done this. He is the one who has made the choice to be there and I sure she would much rather be doing anything else. This poor Johnny shit needs to stop, it's sickening.

I've been seeing lots of different opinions all over social media, but the general consensus does, in this case, seem to be that Amber is the villain in this. They're both toxic, for sure. But there's a mountain of proof that Amber has been both physically and emotionally abusive towards Johnny (and towards some of her previous partners) whereas the same hasn't been discovered for Johnny. Yes, it's come out that he's said some awful things, but quite frankly I believe that given the situation, it's understandable and I'm sure many women the world over have said equally disgusting things about their spouse in the midst of physical and emotional abuse.

So yes, I do think "poor Johnny" and "fuck Amber" based on everything I've seen so far. JD has lost jobs because of this, AH should (and deserves to) as well and I don't think that in this case people are being harder on her because she's a woman. They're being harder on her because she's guilty.

He ruined his career.

No one should be taken out of their workplace for problems in their personal life. I’m sick of women’s careers being attacked. If she’s committed a crime, tell the police, if she’s done libel, sue her. Leave her job alone.

I don't think that's true. He's defending his name, which he wouldn't have needed to do if not for Amber.

I dont have a side but personally they should both lose their careers and have a lifelong time in therapy. It is just hideous all the shite from both sides. He has lost his career, why shouldn't she? It then sends a message to all abusers of either sex that abuse will not be tolerated.

Is it worth pointing out Depp lost all his movie roles before anything at all went to court, based on Amber's words alone.

Now it's been established Amber isn't innocent or honest, she is still being given roles in major movies.

I don't think that fact is sitting well with many.

It's quite simple really OP. Sure there are JD fans who will be chanting for AH to 'pay' etc etc but in the main, most people are getting irate about AH because she portrayed herself to be a vulnerable victim of abuse and used that narrative to carve a career for herself and become ambassadors of women's DV charities etc. This court case has shown that she is essentially, a compulsive liar. There are so many holes in her stories from everything to not being allowed to drive (dozens of pictures of her driving cars at the time) never having seen JDs films and so wasn't won over by his fame (minor point but photos all over internet of her in JD film premieres years before meeting, using a specific make up palette to cover DV injuries (that didn't exist at the time) and now finally, she have several interviews where she said she HAD donated her divorce settlement to charity and that was untrue. If I remember rightly, one of the reasons why she won the UK court case and why many people sided with her at that time was that she insisted she wasn't trying to gain any financial advantage, as she actually donated her whole divorce settlement.

She is clearly a toxic, manipulative, deceitful abuser and I'm quite frankly worried for her child. JD is not the first partner she has abused and I can't imagine he will be the last

People aren't petitioning for him to be removed from films because the studios made that decision and had already removed him. They both seem awful, I don't see the issue with people wanting her removed also. Of course people could just not watch the films she is in, but seems unfair on the rest of the cast and crew.

As a side issue, she is due on the stand today and if her fake sad faces already seen in the courtroom are anything to go by, we are in for an Oscar performance

It's also worth remembering that this entire situation isn't the "norm" we're used to. When women talk out about abuse, some people won't believe that they're telling the truth about that person, whereas when men speak out, there are a lot of people who simply don't believe that it's possible for a man to be physically abused by a woman. So for a lot of these people, their go-to is to believe that the woman is the victim regardless of evidence, which is part of what JD is facing right now. The best thing to do is to look at the facts and evidence that are coming from this trial and take it from there and currently, things aren't looking good for AH in the slightest.

Did you see the messages they showed between Depp and his friend, Paul Bettany, about burning her as she's a witch and doing the witch test in his pool?
