Katie Price & victim blaming

Katie Price has been assaulted and has a "split eye".

However, the comments on Twitter are horrendous:

So many people calling her names, saying she probably deserved it because she's gobby etc.

Poor woman. I hope that she gets the help that she needs.

There’s a horrible thread about this on tattle, she hasn’t always made the best choices, but this is awful, especially for her two youngest who I think were there in the house.

I really like Katie Price. After all the shit men have out her through she keeps going and supporting her kids. I hate the negative press she gets when the fathers co-parent - as if it is a bad thing that both share responsibility. I hate that it comes down to how many husbands/partner/babydads she has had (3). I have so much sympathy for how she deals with a severely autistic child

I hope she is Ok and that someone is looking out for her tonight.

if person has been arrested, which being taken away by police is, then the matter is sub judice, and we should not be discussing it.

I like her and hope she finds happiness.

Whilst I do not condone the abuse she had got. I can understand her not being very popular when she is millions of pounds in debt but going abroad for all sorts of body work, driving a flash car and living in a big house.

Katie is the exact same age as me and I look at her life and my heart breaks for her. My eyes really opened up during her documentary with Harvey. She is a wonderful person and mother. I hope she gets over this trauma.

I feel sad and angry for any woman who's experienced assault. But I don't think it's wise to be speculating on the circumstances or identity of the person being questioned by police.

I don’t follow celebs, so I know little about Katie Price. But I think there was a thread here about the documentary on Katie and her son Harvey. I watched that. She seemed so in tune with Harvey such that I wondered whether it was her instincts, plus the confidence to listen to her instincts, or whether she’d had some SN specialist training. Either way, it was very impressive how she dealt with all of Harvey’s needs.

Then she was on Celebrity SAS, and I watched that. She didn’t last very long, mostly because (from memory) she couldn’t conquer her fear of heights. But she had a good go at it, which is an essential part of special forces training.

I don’t know about the bad choices she’s made, but I gather that she could probably gain a lot from a Mumsnetty intervention and support. Whatever the reasons why she’s ended up in her current situation, what she (along with every woman on the planet) doesn’t deserve is to be assaulted. That’s a choice a man made. So when we’re talking about bad choices, I don’t think Katie’s bad choices involved a fist in the face.

It’s what SN parents do, and no, there is rarely any training involved. 🙄

KP was beaten because there was an abusive man living with her. Like many other beaten women in this country.

If she posted an anonymous thread on MNet, saying she'd been assaulted, called the police and gone to the hospital, posters would be giving her encouragement. Mention that it's Katie Price and suddenly this battered woman must somehow be to blame.

I feel sorry her mum too seeing as she has a terminal illness. Kate must cause her so much worry. You would just want to leave the world knowing your children were safe and happy.

I think from when the dad of Harvey ditched her said it wasn't his baby etc when she was Pg IIRC. I mean what a bastard. The press treatment of her. I mean they're awful. Stalking papping getting stories etc I mean it just be terrible to be famous.

She's just hated isn't she. One of those people that loads love to hate.

On victim blaming well that's standard really. I remember a USA porn/ ex porn star was raped and beaten by an ex. Read something somewhere. So many (mostly men) absolutely gleeful about it.

When I saw this news earlier I thought boyfriend/ ex/ crazed fan. I don't follow so don't know if single or not etc. But I saw injured face hosp and thought Christ hope it's not acid or cut her face up. So pleased to hear that it's not like that. Only seen on here hope no damage to eyesight etc.

Yes lots of people love it when women get attacked especially if they don't toe the line/ play their part. And she doesn't does she. So yes she's hated.

A friend of mine did a spot of ghost writing for KP and spent quite a bit of time with KP and PA. She started out by expecting KP to be a nightmare and PA to be a long suffering sweetheart. She got it very wrong. KP we actually lovely and PA was surly and pretty unpleasant.

I think KP has a lot on her plate with her mum and it must have been difficult with the total lack of input from Harvey’s father. It’s a shame that she has so many narcissistic and inadequate men buzzing round her. I hope she’s ok.

Yes she's always come across as nice to me.

I mean not that I know much about her other than the stuff that gets in the MSM and I'm old enough to remember from when she first became famous.

I do think it was how she was treated by Harvey's dad that I thought well fuck poor woman. And the way she was desired and vilified.

She has never played the game. She's got a big personality. That is not what men want from sex objects.

She was very nice when I met her by chance a few years ago. We are the same age but have very different lives so I don't follow her publicity, but she certainly seemed very pleasant.
