Essbee when I was pregnant I had hideous itchy rashes, and the chemist recommended calamine cream (not lotion) - really thick stuff, and I plastered it on like cream cheese on toast! It was the only thing that helped me.

Hope this has eased off by tomorrow anyway, if not you could try this at the chemist.

How much bicarb did you put in the bath? When the boys had CP we put bicarb in the bath; when I told the GP that we put a couple of spoonfuls in she just laughed and said for any effect you'd have to put half a tub in!

Didn't someone on here put porridge oats in the bath recently for CP?

Also you can get a lotion at the chemist, we got it for DS2 when he had a sun allergy type rash, begins with an E - will go and look in a min. Itchy rashes are foul though, lots of sympathy for you .

essbee - I know what I'm talking about on itching - so listen up.
Make sure you have a sheet under your duvet on your bed tonight- if you flap it up and down it will cool your skin. Cold wrung out flannels placed on the really itchy bits will help. Applying a very liquid body moisturiser and dancing around naked will also help to cool your skin. (And it is impossible to feel low when dancing naked) If you happen to have any peppermint flavoured body lotion that is good too. The piriton will kick in eventually, and your body will rid itself of the drugs quite soon - try drinking lots of water to flush it through

Eurax lotion - "stops itching fast - works for up to 10 hours". Gives a long list of rashes including allergic rashes. Its Sunday name is Crotamiton:

"How does it work?

Crotamiton belongs to a group of medicines which relieve itching (pruritis).
Itching can be caused by physical irritation or chemical changes in the skin caused by disease, allergy, inflammation, side-effects of drugs, or reaction to irritant substances. It is a common symptom of skin disorders e.g. ezcema."

OTC price was £4.69 3 or 4 years ago.
